iPhoneRingToneMaker 1.3.2 puts the ringtone on the iphone but the phone does not show the ringtone. Expected I guess. :(

I suppose existing 3rd party cables/video devices don't work yet? iLounge has been pretty vocal about the TV Out being locked on the new iPods unless Apple's cable is connected. I'm guessing the iPhone behaves the same way?

What's your take nagromme? Is there a valid reason for this behavior?

Edit: I agree about including the chargers with the cables, seems like a money grab.

Yes, valid I'd day: the dock connector video-out system has changed to support component.

There is no Apple lock-in, just a feature change that affects some (not all) older video accessories. iLounge jumped the gun I'd say. The idea that Apple wanted to lock this certain tiny SUB-segment of video accessories makes no sense--it would affect Apple's profits hardly at all. I've even heard of some "authentication chip" Apple wants to sell video accessory makers--but I believe this to be an often-repeated fiction.

Expect new 3rd party accessories to support the new video-out system.

I have a question

My music library and everything else is at home.
I am at work right now but i want to update
By me doing the update from work where i have no contacts music etc.

Will it delete everything i have on the iPhone Right now?
Or is it safe to update without worrying about loosing my
data?
Going to new york right after work dont have time to go home
thats why im asking.

You should ONLY update your iPhone from your home computer (if that is where you activated it from). Your office computer probably won't be able to recognize your iPhone. I wouldn't do it. Plus, it won't let you do it anyway.
Sorry.

EDIT: Sorry for the bad advice. Actually, if all you are doing is UPDATING the software, and iTunes at work recognizes your iPhone, you should be fine. Just DON'T "Sync" it. Otherwise you will lose all of your info.
The only caveat: If updating runs into some problems, iTunes might want you to "restore" your iPhone, then it might be a problem. Let us know how it goes.

I was in the same situation. Updated perfectly still have all my stuff

not that exciting but i have to say all of the changes are very welcome...
crazy that these modifications are 154MB...must be mostly the WiFi store.

This doesnt mean it was 154MB new stuff, many of that could have been just overwriting/updating other files.

Version 1.0.2 was a little over 90MB IIRC so there's 50-60MB of new stuff in there if 1.1.1 contains everything 1.0.2 did.

Pretty lame update. Fixes a few things (sms tones, itunes wifi), but that is about it. Where is iChat, individual email check times, custom wallpaper, notes, todo, mms... All the things we wanted. Does SMS notification even vibrate or just play the tone?

Thnks for th info. General. I wish itunes had more songs available as ringtones then I would update in a heartbeat. I just want one song but they don't have it avail. as ringtone. Guess all I can do is wait to update and bombard apple with requests to make that song a ringtone. :(

I don't think the iTMS will ever make a sound clip of my friends telling me who they are and to asnwer the phone as ringtones, so I'll wait to update... I don't need those updated features anyway.
Why isn't there a way.. on the phone.. to record a short sound clip as a ringtone?:(
or record sound at all? I mean, it's not like it doesn't have a microphone or three.

STILL no gawd darn Exchange Direct Push and still not open to business customers...

EHHHHH

I get vibrations with my SMS notifications in 1.0.2. I doubt it's been removed from 1.1.1.
