I’m still rooting for an iPad price reveal. “Leaked” price estimates keep going higher and I think this is an intentional move to make the final (lower) price seem much more reasonable. $2300 is a non-starter, even after all the inflation we’ve recently seen.

$2000 USD for the entry level model is probably as much as the market is willing to bear. If Apple can get that to $1900 or even $1800, they will make a statement to the industry on what is possible in that form factor at that price. Look at what they just did with the Macbook Neo.

This would sell about as well as the Vision Pro at that price.
Not really because Vision Pro is hampered by a lack of use-cases for it. The apps are few and far between. This is an iPhone capable of doing everything an iPhone can do but in another format.

Also there will be carrier deals for this unlike the VP.

The prices are high. But not astronomical.

I like iPad minis. I’ve got a four year-old iPhone and a mini 6.

I’d like to upgrade both. 🤔 This is probably too high, but it’s not a no yet. It’s a wait and see.

I'm in the same boat. I love the idea of consolidating my Mini and iPhone, but with the Mini being $399 and an iPhone about a grand, the rumored price is a bridge too far at the moment. Especially if the Mini gets OLED in the next year or so. But we'll see what Apple does down the road - maybe as these things get popular we'll see some sub $2000 models.

I will eat my hat if those are the US prices. I don’t think pricing has leaked because I don’t think it’s been finalized yet.

I suspect this is nothing more than the “given what we think components cost and add what we think Apple’s margin will be, then add the 13% VAT” price.

I’ll be shocked if it starts above $1999. (Though I suspect that one will have piddling storage so most everyone posting on MacRumors who go for it will opt for a more expensive one).

Apple didn't launch a $599 laptop and a $2,300 phone independently. They extended every ladder in both directions simultaneously. Neo anchors the bottom of the Mac lineup. MacBook Ultra anchors the top. iPhone Fold anchors the top of the iPhone lineup. iPhone 17e anchors the bottom.

This is what a complete product architecture looks like. Every rung deliberate. Every gap intentional. Every price point defended by what sits above and below it.

The most revealing thing about the iPhone Fold's price isn't that it's expensive. It's that it makes everything below it feel more accessible by comparison. That's not an accident either.

Apple isn't launching products. They're calibrating desire across an entire ecosystem simultaneously. The $499 student with a Neo and the $2,300 Fold buyer are both exactly where Apple wants them.
And a huge, bloated lineup is what almost killed Apple back in the 90s.

I don't get the use case of this phone.
Crazy expensive. Less features (cameras) than the Pro Max

If you want screen real estate, get an iPad mini. iPhone 16 Pro Max + entry iPad is cheaper than this

People who buy this likely aren’t replacing their iPad. They want a bigger screen everywhere they go. Having slightly worse cameras isn’t a deal breaker not when iPhone cameras aren’t exactly amazing as it stands

Except the iPhone Air, where the price makes no sense.. But your entirely right.. I still believe trifold is direction to go here and not bi-fold.. seen a few videos of that and it makes more sense to have a complete iPad in your pocket then some weird square thing..

I'm a foldable owner, and money is not a concern, but the iPhone foldable had better be unbelievable if it ends up starting at $2300 + tax. I picked up the OnePlus Open, the Honor Magic V3 Global, the Oppo Find N5, each for around $1600 out the door, and they all came with a case and 80-88w fast charger and cable in the box.
