Does anybody else feel really good about their iPhone and know they work hard for their toys and then see a little 15-8 year old with the same phone, and get that feeling...
What feeling? Are you seriously jealous that a teen has the same phone you do? What if they earned it? I have the iPhone 4, and in my case, I have straight A's and am on the National Honor Society, not to mention on a biomedical pathway in school. Do I not deserve the same phone you have?
Im ranting I know, but I can't be the only one.
I think you might be one of FEW. I've never heard of someone getting upset that a teen has an iPhone because you FEEL they haven't worked 'hard' for it.
I don't feel the "privilege" as I once did 5 years ago with a Palm Pre and when no "kids" had it.
What privilege were you feeling in the first place? If you feel you need to have an expensive phone that no one else has to feel good about yourself, you need a reality check. This is the real world, get over yourself.
Now you go to a party and their kids have the same phone you do. WTF. YES mommy and daddy pay for it, but it shouldn't be, I feel. Why not make the iPhone $1k and have it be more expensive so little teenie-boppers won't have it.
You're the first person I know that goes to a party and analyzes what phone 'teenie-boppers' have. Just be happy you have the iPhone in the first place and shut up. Who cares what other people have?
Also, $1,000 for a phone? Who in their right mind would even spend that much?
IMO Apple should've release an iPhone Pro edition, and an iPhone Basic. Pro would have more GB, better resolution, the dual cameras, custom carrier pricing etc whatever.
And you don't think there would be kids to get the 'pro' edition?
And the iPhone Pro would have a more practical contract via the carrier and you had to have job in order to use it....
So when you buy your kid (who keep in mind is going to be texting and surfing the web like no tomorrow) an iPhone, you don't think it should be practical? Are you saying you want to be charged out the ass so your kid can have a crappier version of the phone you have? So you can feel special?
This whole thread is just...wow. I understand the fact that you worked hard for your stuff but just because you see a teen with the same phone doesn't mean they haven't done something to earn it. Even the ones with the rich parents, what business is it of yours what phone they have?
Just be happy you have the phone.
