I'm a M.D. and went to medical school for 4 years on top of my Bachelors. Using your logic, I should feel sorry for myself if a photographer, like yourself, has the same phone as me because you didn't work as hard to receive it.

See how dumb your reasoning is?

Does anybody else feel really good about their iPhone and know they work hard for their toys and then see a little 15-8 year old with the same phone, and get that feeling...

Im ranting I know, but I can't be the only one. I don't feel the "privilege" as I once did 5 years ago with a Palm Pre and when no "kids" had it. Now you go to a party and their kids have the same phone you do. WTF. YES mommy and daddy pay for it, but it shouldn't be, I feel. Why not make the iPhone $1k and have it be more expensive so little teenie-boppers won't have it.

IMO Apple should've release an iPhone Pro edition, and an iPhone Basic. Pro would have more GB, better resolution, the dual cameras, custom carrier pricing etc whatever.

And the iPhone Pro would have a more practical contract via the carrier and you had to have job in order to use it....
What do you mean by "custom carrier pricing" or "more practical contract"?

kids that have iphones or ipads is just an oversized pacifier . rich parents buy them that instead of a DS or any kinda gaming system so they can txt god knows who at 7 years old and play games and watch the same movie over and over while the parents go about there way .

My kids that don't even go to school are happy intelligent kids who use every Apple product in the house.
If you want exclusivity then go and make you iPhone gold plated, I always wondered who were capable to pay for things like that.

There are educational as well as entertainment reasons why a kid can use an iPhone.
Why would you think that only "Pros" can have one?

I wish that :apple: required a contract against denigration, before selling you an iPhone.

Oh Jesus. Come on.

Heaven flippin' forbid you don't feel elitist. Stop worry about what everyone else has and use the iPhone. If it bothers you so much, then go buy something else that does make your ego larger.

In all honesty, I'd prefer you didn't use an iPhone so that the snobby stereotype you exude doesn't trickle to Apple users.

+1.

Guess what OP? To deflate your ego even more, I'm a lowly cashier in a pet store and I have an iPhone 4. Three of my co-workers also have iphones (one of them being an iphone 4).

Oooooh... your image must be getting really bad knowing that even us lowly retail slaves have iphones!

And I've gotta fully agree with the I wish you'd go find something else to use as your "status symbol" (I'd say something else but that would be crude ;) ) because I don't want to be associated with your attitude. (Sadly, I think it's too late for anyone who likes Apple products cause people like the OP have stood out and a lot of people see Apple products as just things people like him own to be elitist).

Sorry, but it's a ****ing phone! When you see little kids wearing Armani Jeans, D&G sunglasses sitting on the top of their Ferrari playing with their iPhone, then you can moan!

I thought I was bad when I saw people with iPod Touches and I had my iPhone. This guy right here..

Who cares what everyone else is doing? People buying more Apple products only makes me money regardless

So let's get this straight: You want Apple to charge $1000 for the iPhone just so very few people could afford it, even though it doesn't cost them anywhere near that to produce and they would make less money because nobody would buy them. Why would they possibly need a pro version when they can make it as good as it is now for $200? What kind of advanced specs does a 'pro' like you need in a smartphone? They would pretty much be selling the current one for $1000 and then making a crappy version for us commoners to afford.

You might as well affix $100 bills to the back of your iPhone 4 to make it stand out.I bet no middle schoolers would have that. (and that would be because they aren't morons)

I dislike spoiled kids to, but tough. Get over yourself.

lol ... just to appease the OP maybe Apple could make the iPhone tied in with the Drinking Age ... 21 or you have to use an Android

Kids deserve iPhones also

You know what you need... An engraving on the back of your iPhone. Perhaps "iPhone Pro". Then all the little 'teenie-boppers' will have a normal iPhone. And of course, you will have the iPhone Pro. So maybe this will allow you to sleep better at night.

Thoughts?

What feeling? Are you seriously jealous that a teen has the same phone you do? What if they earned it? I have the iPhone 4, and in my case, I have straight A's and am on the National Honor Society, not to mention on a biomedical pathway in school. Do I not deserve the same phone you have?

Im ranting I know, but I can't be the only one.

I think you might be one of FEW. I've never heard of someone getting upset that a teen has an iPhone because you FEEL they haven't worked 'hard' for it.

I don't feel the "privilege" as I once did 5 years ago with a Palm Pre and when no "kids" had it.

What privilege were you feeling in the first place? If you feel you need to have an expensive phone that no one else has to feel good about yourself, you need a reality check. This is the real world, get over yourself.

Now you go to a party and their kids have the same phone you do. WTF. YES mommy and daddy pay for it, but it shouldn't be, I feel. Why not make the iPhone $1k and have it be more expensive so little teenie-boppers won't have it.

You're the first person I know that goes to a party and analyzes what phone 'teenie-boppers' have. Just be happy you have the iPhone in the first place and shut up. Who cares what other people have?

Also, $1,000 for a phone? Who in their right mind would even spend that much?

IMO Apple should've release an iPhone Pro edition, and an iPhone Basic. Pro would have more GB, better resolution, the dual cameras, custom carrier pricing etc whatever.

And you don't think there would be kids to get the 'pro' edition?

And the iPhone Pro would have a more practical contract via the carrier and you had to have job in order to use it....

So when you buy your kid (who keep in mind is going to be texting and surfing the web like no tomorrow) an iPhone, you don't think it should be practical? Are you saying you want to be charged out the ass so your kid can have a crappier version of the phone you have? So you can feel special?

This whole thread is just...wow. I understand the fact that you worked hard for your stuff but just because you see a teen with the same phone doesn't mean they haven't done something to earn it. Even the ones with the rich parents, what business is it of yours what phone they have?

Just be happy you have the phone.

In my family we all have iphones the newest is actually my sons my hubby get's the hand me downs
my son had his 1st mobil phone when he was 4 and iphones for a few years now he is 10
He also has the most expensive Computer in our house his cost more then mine and hubby's together
Every situation is different and you can not judge people by what they have and not have. Not every child is ready with 4 or even 10 to have a phone. Mine happened to be a gifted kid and he learns more from his electronic devices then some people in their lifetime. So I say you may not be smart like my kid (god knows I am not) and not get as much use out your devices like my kid does and still you have an iphone and computer should I start a thread about it?

OP, you need to let that gigantic ego go, it's not healthy.

There are some 'kid businessmen' as well :)
I bought my iPhone with my own hard-earned money and I don't exactly see what is the problem with that!
Good on you!!!!!

I hear your frustration OP. I felt the same way when they started selling fractional shares in private jets. Suddenly everybody could fly on private planes. I didn't feel the privilege I once did.

You're like the guy who buys a 3 series BMW or a C class Benz and thinks they're big balling it. Yeah it's a nice car, but it ain't exactly a big status symbol.

Wow, bro. It's just a phone. A. phone.
If you want to feel special, then go buy a gold plated iPhone or something. People don't need to pay $1000 for a phone just so you can feel confident about yourself.

I haven't seen anyone with this yet.

Let us know if the bumper scratches the band on this phone.

Dear OP,

I see from your signature that you are a photographer. Therefore, I must ask you to cease and desist from using the term "professional" in requesting an iPhone "Pro." Historically, professionals were limited to those with degrees in one of the three learned professions: divinity, medicine, and law.

As a professional, I feel really good about my education and know I work hard for my status, and when I see someone with comparatively little education using my title, I get "that feeling."

I'm ranting, I know, but I can't be the only one. I don't feel the "privilege" as I once did 5 years ago with a title as a professional and when no "photographers" had it. Now you go to a party and photographers have the same title you do. WTF.

Sincerely,

SooneratND, Esq.

P.S. See what I did there? Your post suffers from the same problems.

I can't +1 this enough!!

Get over your cute little "ego" line. So original. So why doesn't Apple make ONE Macbook and One Monitor and have everything the same? Why make the 30 inch Cinema Display the same as the Samsung Pricing?

I guess I don't settle for mediocre. Thanks for the personal jab tho. I'll be sure to put it next to my earned trophies. Go to China if you want to "live" just like your neighbor. I guess you took a personal favoring to the "kids" note.

I'm trying to have a logical discussion, and why Apple doens't make a PRO edition of their iPhones....

"I agree" is for followers.

Oh the irony.
