No.

That slogan, typset with the lines that way especially, makes little sense. iPod would be the useful brand to tie into, not Mac. And certainly NOT iChat!

You're right about the iChat part. I have to disagree about the iPod bit though, because Apple is too smart to muddy the waters in this area--at least they should be. The iPod and the iPhone are discrete product lines, and Apple would want to sell as many as possible of both. But I think intrinsically you're right, Apple would market the iPhone with iTunes--certainly not iChat.

Apple's designs value Simplicity and Elegance.
Agreed.

As much as it would be nice for this to be real, it probally isn't. I just cant see Apple not putting a better text input interface together.

The standard phone-text input is crap, even with T9. Its not simple and it's not elegant at all.

What it needs to be:

3G
Capable of holding at least 2GB of music
Full iTunes compatibility (photos, music, contacts, calendars)
Use SIM cards (we have CDMA here but it's on its way out)
Not exclusive to any telco (we have different rules here, the ROKR was available from everyone at launch, it's now a cheap pre-paid mobile phone)
Good battery life
Idiot-proof UI

Here is an interesting thing the moment this comes out it could be out of date seeing as cingular is planning to move to WCDMA-UTMS technology. And I heard on the news they are charging users $5 fee because of the move or something but I am not to clear what that fee exactly is for.

Since this is probably a fake and there is no "iPhone" section yet I thought I would post this here for your fake proving expertise:

Sorry if this is a repost but I looked around and couldn't find it.

From Engadget

Sorry... I just threw up a little in my mouth.:(

iPod uses the golden ratio I believe, or something like it. this phone is so far from the golden ratio it's not even funny. It isn't apple-like at all, and I'd be upset if this is what they come out with.

Personally, I think Ives is slipping anymore, the MacBooks weren't so hot in my book, and the 5G iPods aren't either... so in that regard, this could be it:(

If this is what Apple is going to offer as an iPod cell phone, I'm sticking to my nano and Sony Ericsson W900i.

It's obviously a fake....I truly hope so:eek:

Not anymore!

Until downtown Portland is blanketed in a WIFI cloud (soon, supposedly) I would never use a WIFI phone; just not useful enough, so I really hope this comes out as a "regular" cellphone.

On a different note, to poppe, I discovered Tor through your EFF link and am most happy! Thanks!

Now, back to the topic....

You discovered Tor? I suppose I'll have to check my link out. I dont know what that is...

will apple make there own Phone service? or will they make a deal with someone like Cingular?

Most likely with someone else. They'll have to find someone not greedy enough to demand profits and buying stuff from iTunes...

If they couldn't then they would have a big problem...

Ok I figured out what Tor was. Better not mention to much on here. I'd hate for this thread to get thrown in the political batch.
Thanks for showing me that though. Gonna use it now!

Vomatrocious.
What a horrible looking phone.

Great name though...

With the right OS it is possible to do video chat on a phone just look at the new Nokia N series some of them have two cameras, and one of them is for self-portraits/video chat.

Besides if Apple wants a camera to sync with iPhoto I think they need to have at least 2megapixels or greater to be useful.

Sure, it's available, requires a phone that costs more than most consumers want to pay, and requires two cameras. Not something Apple wants to get into with a consumer-grade phone... yet. They'll want to price this thing at around $200-$400 for it to be successful.

Doesn't the V3x have two cameras? One on the outside for photos and one inside on the hinge for video calls?

*checking*.... yes it does. It has a 2.0MP camera and a VGA camera.

You can get a V3x here for $0 on a $20 per month plan which is very cheap so I don't think 2 cameras is out of the question.

Mind you I still don't think Apple are doing a phone - I think they're working on a mobile version of iTunes that works waaay better than the crap they put in Moto's iTunes phones.

Way off in terms of Apple's current design trends. I really think we ought to be looking at helio in terms of our expectations for the iphone. Especially since we have alredy been told about possible agreements between Apple and them (Helio). quite frankly, helio's designs are not that bad, and very decent functionality to boot (got to to around with their Hero model recently).

www.helio.com <-----wortha look at least before you call me crazy

Sure, this is a fake. Not really an interesting debate.

But my hope is Apple is about to release a phone.

It's impossible to buy a good phone nowadays. Either you go with the decent OS (Sony) or decent casing (Motorola) or you have a generic hunk of electronics (Samsung, etc.)

And there are so many missed opportunities for greatness.

I need a new world phone. I'm hoping Apple is going to deliver one soon, because clearly no one in the market today has gotten it right.

That phone from my understanding isn't available for north america and is on UTMS standards.

Sorry for the blurriness, I just had a little time when apple reps were talking turned away from me.

Nice mod, noob! LOL...

Regardless, the alleged phone is ugly as sin. No thanks! :(

the lack of serial #s and legal junk on the back is what caught me first. second, who would be able to use the outer buttons of the shuffle type thing? either it is way to small, or the rest of the device is way too big.

ichat mobile??! stupidest name ever, by the way. misleading, too long, ichat is SOFTWARE... common apple.. you know you want to call it the iphone.. just do it..

thought just came to mind: maybe they will buy a provider. sprint can't be too pricey..

well whatever they do, i know it will kick ass and will dominate the market. i have had enough with this doubting apple junk. it seems everything apple releases, or is rumored to release, people have a bunch of problems with it.. but they all eventually learn to love it and buy one. (just look at macrumor's origional ipod thread... "ipod.. ipoop")

I am not suggesting that the white iChat mockup is real...or fake. Having read through the thread, however, the arguments for it being a fake are not very compelling as they sometimes are for other fakes. Having read everything here, I have no idea if this mockup is an actual Apple phone.

It's hard to believe

How BAD the mobile service sounds in the States!!!!!! Unbelievable. You guys need Apple to start up some service to compete with the cr@p it sounds like you're getting! CDMA! Phones only available from certain service providers! Service providers interfering with the features/operating systems of your phones!
