iPhone Is Losing Popularity(Facts)

About the TV and movies thing, why hasn't anyone mentioned 30 Rock yet? Everyone on there has a Mac and iPhone this season.

But to the OP, you obviously don't watch enough television if you think that Ugly Betty is the only show to have iPhones in it. The iPhone is probably the most seen phone on television.

I can't decide which point was the dumbest, but the TV one was up there. Just on what I've seen, I know I have seen an iPhone on: How I Met Your Mother, Chuck, One Tree Hill, 30 Rock, and Moonlight. Oh yes, The Colbert Report as well. Other people have mentioned other shows I never watch, like ER and Nip/Tuck.

However, I just noticed "the App Store is more popular than the iPhone." That's kind of hilarious considering you need an iPhone or iPod touch to use the App Store.

Commonly known in the trade as "Product Placement" - just another form of advertising and nothing to do with 'real life' situations. Thank goodness, this practice is banned in the UK.

FACTS

  • [*
  • Blackberry Storm has been recently been shown in many T.V shows; Gossip Girl, 90210, Law and Order SVU, House, Samantha Who, and more. iPhone has only been seen ONCE on T.V. on one show, and that's Ugly Betty, who watches that?
    [.

  • It was on journeyman actualy left in back in time made some problems for the present!

I imagine in the next few months sales will continue to fall. Why? Because people who are waaayyyy more patient than I could ever be that want the iPhone have probably done research on them. In that research they probably found all the talk about the(very good) possibility of a new iPhone this summer. So they're waiting tell then. As we get nearer to the summer sales will continue to fall. As long as the economy doesn't get even more ******** I would say after the next iPhone is out sales are better than ever, beating all of their previous records.
Just my 2 Cents:D

Lets hope Apple has something revolutionary coming.
What does that one have to do with anything?

What, because Blackberry is desperate because the Storm is a royal turd, so they have to pay these shows to show it, makes it more popular?

When Apple discontinues the iPhone is when we know that an iPhone killer has been created.

Apple managed to surprise us with the original iPhone. My guess is that they have a few surprises up their sleeve with the next generation iPhone. :)

I certainly hope you're right. I would like a little more justification for the inevitable purchase than faster CPU / more RAM. :)

Don't forget Eleventh Hour (the chick is always holding the phone upside down). I know I have seen it in a few more.

The OP (conveniently banned already) doesn't know what he's talking about. Even shows in his own list have iPhones in them. I don't even own a TV and I've seen it. House: Wilson owns an iPhone, and for secret Santa, one of the lackies gives House an iPhone as a gift, and Cameron has one as well and uses it. But as so many people pointed out, does this really matter? As Steve Ballmer says: "Advertising, advertising, advertising, advertising!"

Selling 4.4 Million phones in this economic environment is a HUGE SUCCESS.

You need to put these numbers in perspective. How many Blackberry Storm phones were sold in the same quarter? LMAO!!!!

Heavenly Bored was obviously a troll. He joined in april and this was one of his first posts. He joined and april and got banned in april ;) The economy is hurting all smart phone sales. I read an article of people canceling their data plans. With cheap services like cricket, boost mobile, etc. hopefully cell service prices lower due to more competition.

His replies, to refute the many criticisms of his original post are cospicuous by their absence!!! :D

Since the Storm is only available in the USA, let's look at those numbers:

The iPhone sold about two million in the USA in the last three months of 2008 (Oct 1 - Dec 31).

The Storm sold one million in the USA in its first two months (Nov 21- Jan 27).

So the Storm sold about 500K per month, versus the iPhone with 650K per month.

[*]iPhone sales are down:

So a sales spike when the new model was released? Typical of any device. Sales were still higher YOY.

[*]Fido has discontinued 16gb iPhone
Doesn't look discontinued to me
http://www.fido.ca/web/page/portal/Fido/iphone

[*]Finding the iPhone page on Rogers website is nearly impossible
So the TWO links on their homepage aren't easy to find?
http://www.rogers.com/web/Rogers.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=WRLS_HOME

[*]www.celebrityblackberrysightings.com is updated daily, www.celebrityiphonesightings.com (same owners) hasn't been updated since July 2008
Looks like an avandoned website to me. Any proof it's because there are no sightings?

Wrong, off the top of my head two and a half men and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, CSI: Miami and How I met your Mother to name a few show it. A lot of these shows have contracts with carriers to show their latest phones. If that contract isn't with at&t you will never see it on the show.

[*]Apple hasn't updated the iPhone page of their site in months, and look at this picture:http://www.apple.com/ca/iphone/gallery/#image2

When you don't have a new model out you don't need to update your website.

[*]Best Buys and Wal-Marts in my area used to have a whole section or kiosk of about 20-30 demo iPhones that could be used, now it has been reduced to about 3-5 and the section has been replaced with other phones.
Also wrong at least in regards to Best Buy, I work for Best Buy and we have only EVER had 2-3 on display at any given time 2 in 99% of stores.

[*]The Apple Stores have taken down the huge tv. iPhone displays in the window.
While this may be true Apple refreshes displays to match their newest products. iPhone came out last July it's not their newest product.

[*]iPhone is no longer listed in Best Buy's weekly flyer.
Most ad items are vendor funded sale items. If Verizon is paying us to put their phone in the ad that will get priority over a non vendor funded item.

[*]iPhone App Store is more popular than the actual iPhone.
Doesn't that prove the popularity of the iPhone since it shows tons of people are using it?

[*] iPhone used to make up more that %80 of Engadget and Gizmodo's posts, after emailing some of the editors, they revealed that iPhone now makes up about %15 of posts.
Again, it's not the newest kid on the block anymore, Palm Pre is a number of their posts because its new and not released yet. As soon as apple updates it will reign king again. With technology blogs you have to post the latest and greatest of you lose your readers.

[*] iPhone is still not available in many countries, and Apple hasn't expanded availability since the release of iPhone 3g.
Show me any phone that is available in every country?

[*] Rogers has introduced 3.5g speeds, and of course, iPhone 3g doesn't support it, but Blackberry Bold and Curve do.
That has what to do with popularity?

[*] Rogers is also ditching the 16gb iPhone
[*] Rogers is wrecking 6gb accounts: http://www.theiphoneblog.com/2009/0...cking-6gb-accounts-fido-ditching-iphone-16gb/
One is speculation the other if anything is just a crappy business practice from their carrier.

[*] Nintendo is launching their own DS store, which will be available to the 100 million plus DS users.[/quote[
Again, what does this have to do with iPhone?

[*] Apple has discontinued the iPhone Bluetooth Headset.
Probably because a new model will launch with the new phone or it will become a convertible headset/stereo headphones or quite possibly because it sucked? One last time, headset being discontinued is no indication of iPhone popularity.
