Best use case for me is likely those pesky 2FA apps like Microsoft Authenticator that I have to use for work all the time. Although I don't know how that would work since it needs FaceID to unlock? There are many times I get the authentication prompt but my phone is not close by.
Just because it uses Face ID by default, that doesn't mean you cannot login without using Face ID.

Even on beta 3, it doesn’t seem like authentication is very consistent. Seems like it’s better than beta 2, but haven’t been using it as much as I was at first.

As I journal everyday, when I open the Journal app on my mirrored iPhone, the Mac should normally display an authentication screen, where I can type in my password, use Touch I’d or my Apple Watch to authenticate. Seems like every other day, this does not work, that screen just doesn't show up. The workaround is to go to the iPhone itself, and open the app from there, then go back to the screen mirroring. It got to the point where I’d rather just use my iPhone with my old Bluetooth keyboard again.

I’d personally like them to give me the option to switch to landscape/portrait modes. If I open a video from Safari on my iPhone, it’s in this tiny little screen with massive black bars on the top and bottom. And some apps, I just like working in landscape better.

It would also be nice if protected video can play. My only option to use Fitness+ on my Mac is to AirPlay from my iPhone. This wouldn’t be a big problem if it didn’t take up the whole screen and I saw my on screen metrics. The Mirroring application solves this half way, I can see my metrics, but the video itself is black. Why the Mac doesn’t have its own fitness app is beyond me.

Anyway, this app is better than what we had previously - some third party apps attempting this but just worked horribly. I also think this app would also be ideal to run on an iPad, nothing more natural than controlling an iPhone app with a touchscreen.

Maybe it's a bug, but this doesn't scale based on resolution/monitors. I have a 27" that I plug my Air into and it stays small without any option to enlarge the screen.

I can't say I personally have much use for this, as I use my laptop much more than my phone, but maybe some use case will present itself.

I get how this could be interesting for developers (I think).
But for the average user, what function does this serve? It's a genuine question, I'm not tryin to attack anyone who finds it useful.

I just can't think of a use case - primarily because my phone is never particularly far away and I'd find it easier to just use it directly.

I already use my Mac for everything I can. When I'm home or at the office my phone is mostly just sitting around not being used. Would be great to just leave it in my bag and use it from my Mac for few the things it's required for.

I'm assuming that combined with AirPods I could even take calls.

It might even entice me to get the Pro Max next time since when I'm actually using it I'd want the big screen, but wouldn't have to actually wield it most of the time.

How do you take a screenshot

Could this happen with the Apple Watch too in the future?
You can mirror from AW to iPhone using Accessibility features.

Awkward limitation: Does not work while mirroring the mac screen to Vision Pro. Would have been very useful there.
Can't wait to be able to mirror my Apple Watch onto my iPhone onto my Mac onto my Vision Pro.

As a developer this is going to be a godsend for device testing! I am so excited for this! This kind of thing has been a pain for 15 years. There are solutions of course and you can use the device itself but it will just be SO much easier and simpler and more convenient to have the “phone” right on your screen beside your code.

What is the use case for this feature? I have never needed or wanted to see what is on my phone on my computer.
Well, I can give you a couple of examples that I've been using this for over the past couple of years (on those "other" platforms, which has had this feature since at least 2022):

1) I use a bluetooth temperature probe when I'm barbecuing meat in order to monitor both the grill temp and the internal meat temp. The probe's bluetooth connection doesn't quite reach the end of my house where my office is, so I will mirror the app on my desktop while I'm working and leave my phone in the kitchen where it gets a BT signal and WiFi just fine. Kind of a hacky workaround, I know, but it is really helpful in this case.

2) I implement and support an enterprise software that includes mobile warehouse and field service applications. When providing remote training and support for the mobile apps or just demonstrating the mobile apps to prospective clients, I can mirror those apps on my screen and show what they would look like for their warehouse workers and field technicians.

These are the main two areas where I have used phone/app mirroring and it has proven incredibly helpful.

A use case. I'm a Claris/FileMaker software developer. Many of the systems I create must be useable from computers (laptops or desktops, PC or Mac) and iOS devices like iPhones. The layouts for iPhones are quite different from those on the Mac. I do all the development on a Mac laptop and then need to unlock my iPhone to see how the display looks there and if there is any degradation in performance - very tedious. Being able to see the iPhone display and speed live on the Mac alongside my development windows would be fantastic.

So I take it you still can’t re-arrange the Home Screen from the Mac? Damn shame too since that’s one of the weakest points of home screen management

It's too early in the life of this new feature introduced with dev beta 2 to glean all the functionality that is possible. This upcoming dev beta 4 on Monday (since all the seeds have been on Monday) might show some fixes/improvements to this mirroring.

A interesting point is that the following:
After spending a week with iPhone Mirroring, I was left with one surprising takeaway — Apple absolutely needs to copy this on iPadOS in the feature. Hear me out — iPhone Mirroring proves that you can use a regular cursor and keyboard to navigate iOS. When you connect your iPhone to a Mac, you don't get that weird circular iPadOS pointer that morphs into buttons and action items. You just get the standard macOS pointer we've been using for decades, plus the regular Mac keyboard. And it just works.
IMHO this affords developers a new way to look at how their apps work on the iPhone while coding on a Mac, so the possibility of being able to see a similar resolution (PPI) representing of a iPadOS screen with mirroring using MacOS 15 does sound appealing and exciting to some of us. Although it not what some iPad users would like which is the opposite its perfectly doable IMHO with this smooth running iPhone mirroring using bluetooth paired with Wifi, however not at the same time due to the limits of networking bandwidth.

I would 100% use this

Does not work in EU !!!!!

I still don't understand why this great feature is not shipped in EU. There is no obvious reason for it.

Because the EU could hit down on Apple pretty hard due to the fact that it’s only the iPhone that can be mirrored.

Not any other phone (Android) which goes against EU regulations.

I mean it’s pretty easy to use google and read up about the reason.
