Correct me if I'm wrong but I also think Orientation Lock, which can be handled by any device, Is also not supported by the 3g... I'm severely disappointed that Apple wont give something as basic as Wall Papers and such to the iPod Touch 2g I have.

Pretty much one big scam by Apple unless something changes between now and release.

I never bothered jailbraking before but this whole mess with the the barely dated version getting screwed is making me think otherwise.

I think its more of a way to get people to upgrade. Even the first iPhone is probably more than capable of running OS 4.0 (maybe not as fast but they could optimize it) but if they give every feature to everyone then most people wont want to buy new hardware. I can sympathize that you feel cheated but this in no way a scam, they don't have to give you anything, but they were kind enough to give 3G users a few features. Be grateful. Then Jailbreak ;)

*nod. I think we all agree on the reasons for the neglect of cross compatibility but don't agree in the very act of doing so.

This decision sort of puts a bad taste into my already sullied mouth........but I get why they're doing it.

in setting>general the Home Button option has changed to Spotlight search :)

PS: beta 3 is great va kheili dusesh daram :D

Remember when 3.0 came out? They tried to make us believe the original iPhones radio was "incapable" of sending mms? Jailbreaking community had it enabled rather quickly with not much work and it worked perfectly for me. Just like backgrounder worked perfectly on it as well. So yes it's "business" but say that. Don't act like were mindless idiots. Wallpaper? Seriously? That's even more ridiculous then mms. Btw i'm a 3GS user that will be getting a 4th gen when it's released so it doesn't even effect me but I remember when I had the original when 3.0 was announced I was pissed.

Beta 3 is really nice - smooth and relatively bug-free. After using the betas for a few weeks now I feel like I can't do without the app switcher. It makes leaving an app so much less disruptive. Now whenever I use my iPad I find myself wishing I had an app switcher.

I skipped b2, but Gmail settings now has an Archive Message setting. On - messages archive when trashed. Off - previous delete function.

just wondering what is that green bar with the arrow on top in the status bar?

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3GS (OS4.0b3): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.4 Mobile/8A260b Safari/531.21.10)

That's the Apple bluetooth headset.

It's actually a Jawbone Icon, which I believe is currently the only non-Apple headset that uses the battery indicator.
Right on, I didn't realize there were any other BT headsets out there which displayed the battery meter like that. The Jawbone Icon, right?

How to reply to emails

Am I missing something or have the reply/forward/move/trash buttons missing from the bottom of the mail app's screen?? I can't figure out how to send a reply to an email using the new mail app. I'm on the 4.0 beta 3 on an iPhone 3GS.

Beta 3 seems to be chewing the battery on my 3G iPod touch like nothing else. I don't get a day of standby out of it whereas it lasts for ages on Beta 2.

This is a known bug that happens after reading attachments. You need to power cycle the phone to get them back. I have already submitted it to Apple.

Alternatively, you can kill Mail.app in the multitasking pane. It really seems like killing an app in multitasking has the effect of killing the app process as a whole.

Multiple spelling suggestions seem to be in, but not 100% right. I found if you type a word wrong (or sometimes right) leave a space or punctuation and then backspace to it, it will bring up a menu of words to select from. But it seems to only work in mail.

Start a message in mail. Type "year.". Then backspace over the period and it will popup blue text on black the word "uear". What that is, I have no idea.

I found that typing "Thisa " (tell it to ignore the spelling replacement) then backspace over the space at the end and it pops up with the choices, "Thus | Thuja | Thus a". The last one is interesting because it realized it was two words.

This does nit look fully implemented yet and I have had a hard time gettin it to pop up consistantly. But it does look interesting.

If you have a 3G here is no multitasking menu. Thus power cycle is the only option.

Why doesn't Apple just charge people with the original iPhone/3G to upgrade?

because it's too much to code for the older hardware.

plus, imagine all the threads about multi-tasking slowing down your phone. not only here, but on the apple forums and @ the genius bar.

Anyone having issues with mail after viewing an attachment. You use all the controls to reply, forward, etc.
