The new GAAP rules just made it so that you can hold back reporting a smaller amount of revenue; they didn't didn't actually say that you don't have to hold back any at all. Clearly, going forward, any new sales can take advantage of the new rules to allow them to show a balance sheet that's closer to reality.
But are those GAAP changes automatically retroactive? That is to say, we're talking about devices that were sold more than 2 years ago, and by now their held back revenue has already made it off the books. Would Apple be able to just arbitrarily start applying the new rules to old sales that happened several years ago, with no explanation for what had come before? Or would they have to submit revised financial statements for the last few years to change their accounting of the amount of revenue they'd held back?
1) By REAL network I assume you mean one that can handle simultaneous voice/data and has the fastest 3G speeds, like AT&T?
2) Yeah, totally, the iPhone has a monopoly on shattered screens. Oh, wait:
3) By 1997 tyco toy I believe you're referring to Windows Mobile 6, which was seemingly released sometime around 1997?
Troll Different.
What about the following:
- Full quality in the YouTube app on 3g cellular (remove the AT&T limit not valid in Europe)
- A common file system for sharing data between apps (or more apps that uses the Dropbox API)
- Indication of accumulated 3g cellular download in the status area in the top of the screen
- Fast on/off of 3g cellular
- Flash support...
- Go to end of long page in Safari
Free for owners of supported iPhones (3G and 3GS).any guess to purchase price?
$10...$20?
The user interface will no way get a complete overhaul.
If anything, some glossy UI improvements like iTunes 9 came with.
I like it how it is now, easy to navigate, but still.. small changes
never hurt anyone... actually I take that back since I'm posting on MacRumors.
My guess is that it will not be available to consumers until this summer. Is this likley to be released soon or will it be in the summer when a new phone might be released?
And how did Microsoft respond? It reminds me of the first Zunes to hit the market. Everyone bashed them and compared them to the iPod then called them massive failures, but few ever picked one up and used it. The UI in the Zune was MUCH better than the one on the iPod, even today.
Isn't it time we finally move past the folders analogy? How many folders have you put in your pocket lately? How long do we have to continue replicating the archaic paper office methodology on our electronic devices? Forever?
How many shirts, socks, ties pens, paper clips etc do you put in your pocket? That stuff gets stored some how. When you have alot of the same thing, you tend to need to store it some how.
What would you suggest on how to manage alot of the same thing? If the idea is good I am all for no folders.
Folders, folders, folders!
Thumbs up. Thumbs down. My "eyes" are getting crossed with all the speculation!

Done.

This is great news. Now how about a new physical iPhone to go along with it...
What I'd lve to see is a way to respond to a text from the notification window without leaving what I'm doing.
You can readily do it for a long time with jailbreaking + biteSMS
anyone elses 3g run slow? many times i start up an app and there is probably a 5 second lag till i can actually start typing. even after that, the typing isn't exactly synced up.
