Definitely not a good beta for normal everyday use. I am back to 3.13 and will keep 4.0 on the test devices until network connectivity, camera, etc. work properly. Not surprised since it's beta but it would be nice to use it in everyday situations for testing.

You could always revert to the pre-iPhone days and carry two devices. ;)

Is it really that bad?

in apps, for instance when looking somthin up in maps, an calling it from apps , there is a new animation when the app switches to the phone app..

this happens when any app

Wasted an hour and a half downloading the SDK... and now another 40 minutes to install, only to find out that this second beta is unusable.

I think I'm going to downgrade to 3.1.2/3

It's not unusable but it's frustrating. I have a lot of internet connectivity issues with both 4.0 betas and now that the camera is not working it kills it for me on my daily phone since my wife's birthday party is on Saturday and I want to use the phone in case the digital camera dies or is being used by someone else. Oh well.

wow i think this might be worse than beta 1 lol. it reboots more often than beta 1 was

just loaded up beta 2. its not too bad other than the camera not working. do you think apple would release a beta correcting the camera issue (i mean it IS a pretty big deal) asap or just wait another two weeks?

Likely in two weeks. Apple doesn't get out schedule until closer to launch.

I think the issues in the beta are evidence that 4.0 was rushed a bit.

I think I an going to keep beta 1 on my phone for as long as possible if this is as buggy as everyone says.

Imap Idle?

For those of you using IMAP for their mail, has Apple introduced the IDLE extension which immediately sends a notification when there is a change in a folder (ie new mail).

My mail provider offers IMAP and offers the IDLE extension and I get notified, without any fetch command, instantaneously of new mail. My old Sony Ericsson K790a of a few years ago supported that.
