With only 4 days until the iPhone launch, the build up continues.

• We are collecting iPhone Questions for early adopters in our active iPhone Forum.
• For those unwilling to wait in line for an iPhone on Friday, Craigslist offers ads for people willing to wait in line for you.
CultofMac claims that Apple employees are being a bit free with their iPhones in public, with another photo of an iPhone at use at a party over the weekend.
• The first iPhone shipments have reportedly arrived in the U.S. with armed security.
• Apple Store security is at an all time high, and there are reports that Apple may prohibit overnight camping and even line formation until later in the day.
• Someone posted a Youtube video of the iPhone kiosk at AT&T stores.

they have guards already outside the chicago flagship store's side entrance i think. i saw two of them, possibly armed. although, they could have just been chilling out there

Armed security! I want to see some price plans first anyway!

I'm with you. The only way they are going to get any kind of crowd on Friday is if the monthly voice/data plan is in the $70 range for the starter 400min, free nights & weekends, unlimited data.

That said, Verizon did turn Apple down based on the terms they were asking for. I haven't seen anything so far that would be a deal breaker, which means that the last Steve Jobs "One more thing..." may just turn out to be an affordable plan rate. After all it's a 2.5g Cingular network. And that can't bring premium pricing over a 3g higher speed networks.

So if comes down to a reasonably priced monthly plan. If a $70-75 / month plan comes out, you will see ALL the complaints of the iPhone disappear.

Following that link was a waste of time...

Armed with what? iPods? Altoids? :D

Steve has the RDF generator in overdrive for the past 6 months. I hope it doesn't burn out...

Armed Security already on shipments into the USA! From what I hear the iPhone isn't that good!:p

Lol!!!!!!!!

This is the funniest thing I have ever read!!!!!

Armed guards for an IPOD.......LOL!!!!!

New York?

All those cities/areas mentioned and no one in NY is going to meetup?

Im not so bought on this engadget report, it just seems too bitter.

yeah me either, they pretty much ripped on every cool feature and said it sucked.

it was probably some 60 year old cynic with huge fingers testing the unit...

haha, just kidding

The Engadget piece doesn't sound good. Typing is difficult and browsing is slow.

The Engadget piece was written by the same Ryan Block(head?) that wrote back in May the iPhone would be delayed till Oct. causing apple stock to tank for a bit.

All because he got "insider info" from a trusted source.

I don't buy any Apple rumor these bloggers post anymore..

What im unsure of is why not include a keyboard calibration setting, so it can find the center of your fingers to detect what button you are pressing.

OK, for real, is there really NOTHING else going on in the world that the freakin iPhone is such a big deal? 6 months ago, it was a cool product, but they have been dragging on and on, and now with four days to go, you'd think the world is ending.

Especially around here!

That's too bad if the keyboard really is a little kludgy, but I personally never expected it to be up to par with a Crackberry. I'll bet it's not really all that bad, probably more a 7 on a scale of 10, if 10 is a Blackberry. Occasional email with friends is all I'm expecting, not constant messaging to correspond with business associates, so I expect it'll be just fine for my purposes.

Also, since the keyboard is all software-based, there is a lot of room for Apple to make improvements, such as adding a larger, landscape-orientation keyboard or whatever. And if Apple doesn't do it, you can be sure the mod community will!

My friend works at an Apple store and he said he's searched for any sort of communication device like a phone (camera or no camera) just to keep things from leaking.

I'm assuming 3rd party accessories are arriving before the iPhones?
