This quandary is getting annoying. The "which is best for me" kinda thing is so silly. Resale values are almost identical (do a bit of research, you'll see)... not like the old days where verizon fetched a premium. What I don't get is how so many people question their decision as to which to buy. Do you REALLY forsee yourself switching from ATT\TMO to VZE\Sprint in the one year ahead that you'll likely own the phone? If you're really that unable to forecast if you may be switching, maybe THAT decision should come before deciding what to buy, because clearly deciding on a service provider is far more important than picking which model within a phone you're going to buy.

I have a line on TMO and one on ATT. I can't imagine not knowing if I might switch to Sprint or Verizon in the next year. Do people really carrier-hop that much?

Because the discounts might vary from carrier to carrier, some people throw a fit when they can't get a "free" phone (under subsidy) and instead get the "free" phone from the other carrier. It used to be that Local Number Portability didn't exist, and if you switched carriers, you lost your phone number. Once that went away, the only thing keeping people chained to the network was the device lock. With that gone, the only thing keeping people with any carrier is the constant offer of discounted phones.

Although Wireless is most known for it, it also happens with Cable Television, and Wireline DSL service. Sometimes you only get a better deal by switching carriers every 2 years. Out here, if you want the latest TV/PVR box from the TV/Internet provider, you're almost required to switch every 2 years because owning the equipment locked to the provider (some costing nearly 1000$) is a rip off and you're better off renting the equipment and turning it in every 2 years when you switch. If you move to a city that doesn't have that provider, you can't use your equipment you paid for anyway.

This page shows four model numbers:
http://www.apple.com/iphone-6s/specs/

but yes, two of each look the same. I have read here and there though that there are differences between the AT&T and TMO models. Not sure if there's any truth to that though. It's annoying wondering if I got the wrong one, and even more annoying that just indicating that I use AT&T as a carrier means I only have one possible option as a shipping address!

The only thing that happens when you select a carrier on the page is that is the SIM card you get sent. The Apple SIM , AFAIK is only sent in the "GSM" model in the US, the rest of the world gets the carrier's SIM. When I bought the iPad a few years ago, I was sent the carrier SIM card.

In Canada... I don't even recall getting the option to pick a carrier. It was just pick a size, color and apple care. That was it.

One model is the iPhone 6S, the other is the 6S Plus, in CDMA and non-CDMA models. An AT&T/T-Mobile/GCI model is the same device. The CDMA models are LOCKED to their carrier because that's just how the CDMA radios work.

I think I smell a 256 gig configuration next year. Lol! In that way the 128 gig will be the one I get lol! We will see. In the meantime enjoy your upcoming new 6s in the nice Rose Gold!

Really not the case with wireless. People jump ship from cable companies because the monthly cost changes after promos end. Wireless really doesn't. And cable is cable as far as where you live. Wireless you generally have 1 or 2 carriers that meet your coverage needs best.

Not a good comparison.... but we'll go with that. And even if we go with it, doesn't one known when their contract is up? And wouldn't they know what carrier they'd be switching to within 1-12 months? And even if not, everyone offers subsidies and trade-in programs for phones.

Rose = Girl

Gender-associated colors are for infants and only to make people shut up asking you if its a boy or girl. After they grow a little and take on male and female characteristics, such a statement is downright ignorant.

You know who wore pink? The Hart family. And they're quite masculine. So did Gatsby in fiction, and he was a gangster.

Really though... It's just a color. My favorite is purple. I'm a boy. I see neither man nor woman when I look at it. I see purple.

I wish, but I doubt it. Apple has a vested interest in keeping people streaming and using iCloud. That sort of storage may be for future iPad Pros and such. But it will be a while before it makes it to phones.

Few people are buying this phone if there's still stock available. Demand just isn't there this year.

I think the low sales count has to do with the following:
1. Lack of interest for this years model
2. Not much of an upgrade
3. No 2-year option on Apple site

For me it was 3 & 2. Even now, almost 3 hours later I can still get a Space Grey 64 and have it by 25 September.

1. There is no factual basis for this. To the contrary, S models have generally had better availability since they share components with model already production.

2. From a hardware standpoint it is as large as upgrade as going from a 5 to a 6. Taking the time to educate yourself will help you a great deal when making decisions.

3. There is a 2-year option

Agreed, the are 9 am reservations at my local Apple Store for most models including a 6S 128GB in Rose Gold. The demand is not as great this year as last. Only so many reservations can be handled per hour no matter how many iPhones a store has.

With a 4k camera and HD movies, nothing less than 128gb should even be considered.

4 minutes of 4k video is about 1 GB, so a 64GB phone is sufficient for a few hours of 4k video.

That being said, the average person is not going to care or use 4k. Even those that do aren't going to use their iPhone to produce full-length feature films.

I think this is an inaccurate statement. I don't think people are going out to shoot the next block-buster with an iPhone. 64gb total storage is plenty for most needs and is completely in line with Dedicated 4K camcorders costing over a grand, such as this that only come with 64gb (although it all gets used for video). If you use 32gb of the space for video recording and the other half for your Apps, depending on compression and frame rate, you should still get up to 65 minutes of recording. And it isn't very hard to off-load the video to a laptop or desktop for archival and edit. So unless you are really serious about shooting a lot of 4K (not very useful for social media yet), 64gb will serve most users just fine if only half is used for video.

Where I got the data: Since I know nothing about actual bit rates for 4K on the iPhone, just that it also shoots 4K at 30 fps like the GoPro 4. So I used the GoPro HERO4 Black as a reference. The top end video modes of the GoPro HERO4 Black edition record data at a rate of 60Mb/s, which is a bit under 8MB/s for 4K video recording (3840 by 2160) at 30 fps- the same spec as the new iPhone (resolution and frame rate). At that rate, the GoPro gives 66 minutes on a 32gb card.

Apple has provided zero sales figures yet people already know demand isn't great. Of course if all phones were sold out people would just say Apple limited supply so they could show them as sold out on their website and make them look more in demand than they really are.

I feel sorry for myself next year when I go for the iPhone 7. I'm still licking my wounds for getting the 6 plus last year. Everybody wanted a plus! This year I took a break and decided against the 6s in favor for the IPad pro. I like the non "S" versions but I hate the high demand for them.

Probably not for the T-Mobile rose gold unlocked version.

I didn't order one this time around, but the excitement around this launch seems as much as any launch. Can't wait to see these in the wild. Rose Gold!
