I didn't see much of an upgrade other than camera. I ended up going from 6 to 6S+. Figured I'd try the bigger screen although I hope I dont regret it. My 6 is already big in my pockets.

Same here got the email confirmation at 2:07 AM CST and says 10/13-10/26.

I am still hoping to get my 6S+ on 9/25.

Atleast I better. I mean order complete and paid 7 minutes after opening.
It's why I just closed the ATT order and went straight to the Apple Store app. I'll get it on the 25th through there.

Preordered the Space Gray iPhone 6S (128Gb). Going from the Space Gray 6 Plus (64Gb). I miss being able to use my phone one-handed, and Apple never truly utilized the size of the Plus. I'm paying $42 a month for the Plus, and this new phone with the extra storage is actually the same price since it's the smaller one. As you can see, I thought this through.

Really, I think there are two possibilities: 1) Apple increased production on the iPhone 6s (which isn't all that likely), or 2) We're seeing a typical off-year release following a major one.

The move from the 5 to the 6 was substantial, and I imagine most people took advantage of their free subsidized upgrade last year to make the jump. The 6s isn't a major update (though I think the changes are still substantial), and the impetus to upgrade is smaller.

I ordered off-contract (ouch) because I am done with Android for now, and made a mistake with my last subsidy. Next year I will likely upgrade again with subsidy for the 7 Plus, and stay on the two year cycle like everyone else.

That is if you can still get a subsidy a year from now.

I had iPhone6 Plus for a years thinking to get 6S this time but end up order 6S+ anyway . Screen size was great for email, game ,reading, photos viewing, youtube,iBook, map etc . Things to be consider holding it with one hand, putting 6S+ in your pocket are fine(I know its big phone). I got use to it getting in and out form my front pocket easily. Not sure Matt Bonner still used iPhone 6 ha ha,

iPhone 6 with 100 bucks price reduction is a much better value.

I'm not so sure about that given the number of upgrades the 6s got. The 5s only got two meaningful upgrades, basically a 64-bit A7 and TouchID. With the 6s, pretty much everything inside has been significantly upgraded: performance, RAM, body strength, both cameras got the biggest upgrades in years, display with the addition of 3D Touch, faster LTE chip (if you have T-Mobile, forget the 6), 2nd gen TouchID, multitasking, etc. I think all of that is easily worth that extra $100 which I'm sure 99% of people considering the cheaper iPhone 6 could easily add to their credit card. For a phone you're planning to keep for at least two years, it's definitely the better value.

Because you know... You get a hell of a lot of function too

(You're telling me people would not care i they had a car that's twice as resistant to impact even if it looks the same as the year before?)

Those functions are:

- Must stronger shell, aluminium 7000
- The case is even thicker by 0.2mm
- 3D Touch + Haptic
- Stronger screen (latest Corning tech)
- M9 in integrated in SOC which allows a always on Siri, a major upgrade
- Probably 2G of Ram
- Faster Touch ID (hw upgrade, not just software)
- Bluetooth 4.2
- The A9 is a big jump in performance in both CPU and GPU
- Major improvement in Camera 12MP, Live Photo (hw based), 240 fps, OIS for video too.
- Major improvement in Facetime camera and highly customized adaptive flash for it
- 802.11a/b/g/n/ac with MIMO
- Supports faster 4G LTE (LTE-A)
- New color

That's one hell of number of upgrades

The screen resolution and form factor is basically the only thing that hasn't changed!

Guys, you are missing the point. All I'm saying is that majority of the people care a lot more about the look. If you are here on Macrumors, you are a small group of people that knows what the tech has and know what they want. That is not the case with the general population. Like I wrote in another reply, I personally have the iPhone 6, if I have the money I would upgrade as well. However, most people (pretty sure none are here), focuses more on the looks. Keep in mind, there is a huge group of people that will simply buy Apple as a status symbol, to show that they have the newest/coolest tech, if the form factor is the same, that won't work for them. Nothing groundbreaking in the 6S. 6 is just as fast for you daily needs and you are nt part of SETI or cancer research with your phone. Maybe camera, but it will not be key for most people. Average Apple customer will not tell the difference.

Thats what i think. I don't see 6s as a substantial upgrade.

That display using flash for the selfie photos is nice.

Your uncle could get the rose gold and show off that to his friends.

So because the 6s looks the same as the 6, it's pretty much the same phone. I spoke to a neighbor who bought an iPhone 6 in May and he's actually mad he didn't wait for the 6s.

My iPhone 4 basically stopped working about 3 weeks before the 5S was announced and wasn't under warranty, so I was essentially forced to buy the iPhone 5.

I was very hard on my poor iPhone 5, which, to it's credit, did it's best to be a good phone. I dropped it on the cement pavement twice and in water once. Now the screen is smashed and falling apart and the battery drops from 100% to 30% in like two hours.

TL;DR: I snagged a Gold 64GB iPhone 6 and I absolutely can't wait for a new phone and the stunning new cameras. Woot!

I can certainly see the appeal. Although using my 6 Plus is pretty much flawless now, for the first couple of months it was riddled with crashes and half the apps not being optimized for the Retina HD Display.

Someone going straight into 6S Plus will have snappier experience, and all the apps will be optimized out of the gate.

With the iPhone 5 and 5S, it was opposite. The 5 still runs great, and has held up through iOS updates fairly well. The 5S had a lot of issues at first from being the first 64 bit phone.

With that said, its good to see Apple having better yields this time around. The 2 month waits were complete non-sense and embarrassing last year for the 6 Plus.
There are still many apps potentially refuse to support iPhone 6 Plus, such as "My Optus" app and "Dictionary" app. And SharePoint Newsfeed app doesn't support iPhone 6 Plus yet.

I think, if iPhone 7s comes out, most still updating apps may choose to support Retina HD display.

I believe some people like the S versions for a simple reasons. One being that most/all cases fit right out of the box including battery cases/externals. Maybe the just update every two years and jumped on during the 3GS?

2) Everything, but the resolution? Are you sure? Say, that phone looks um...rather identical to me.

People in general are extremely visual, why pay again to get the same form factor?

Come on, seriously. Reason this together. it is not that hard...

Everyone, EVERYONE knows Apple updates their phones in terms of design every two years. And they do a major design every time they do it. Contrast that with the galaxy line that has remained very similar for the past few years (at least the past 5), besides the Edge, but that is a separate line.

In addition, the absolute overwhelming majority of people upgrade their phones in a timeframe that is longer than 1 year, meaning that they either go from 4->5->6 or from 4s->5s->6s. So there are precious few people that pay for the same form factor. And those that do get sequential phones are not in it for the form factor but are usually after the spec upgrade.

"Groundbreaking", probably not. Substantial, definitely. However, I agree no one needs to have every new phone that comes out. If I had a 6, I certainly would not get a 6S. The "gotta have the latest" attitude is crass consumerism.
