So any details on the yearly upgrade plan (contract free)? During the keynote, Phil mentioned about the monthly instalments, but it does not add up to $749. Is there any downpayment ?

Nothing groundbreaking in the 6S. 6 is just as fast for you daily needs and you are nt part of SETI or cancer research with your phone. Maybe camera, but it will not be key for most people. Average Apple customer will not tell the difference.

Thats what i think. I don't see 6s as a substantial upgrade.
yeah because 2gb of ram and faster CPU and gPu are nothing as long as the outside looks the same, its not any different!

Well Apple has promoted a culture where appearances matter way too much. Thankfully these days Apple backs it up with more important changes than stuffing a G3 into a cube.

Not true. The 6 Plus struggles with its lack of RAM. The phone can slow down at times. The 6s Plus should not have this issue.
Please try and read my post better. I'm not saying that the phones have similar performance or specs, but that most people do not upgrade to the 6s from a 6 and that therefore spec comparisons between these models do not make a lot of sense from the customer perspective.

For everyone that owns a 5s or earlier, the 6s (or the 6 for that matter) is a giant leap forwards.

no you can't... there is no unlimited data plan with next.

Untrue. I have Next upgrades on two lines that still have their unlimited data intact and a third line that is a 5GB w/tethering.

Next is just a zero interest payment plan on your device, nothing more. It does not require giving up a grandfathered unlimited data plan up. If your AT&T rep is telling you that it does, they're lying to you.

If you're willing to go to a mobile share data plan, you can save a few bucks, but with a 3 month average data usage of 45.32GB /mo and a 3 month peak data usage of 56.84GB across my three lines, I'm not giving up my unlimited plans until I'm forced to, and I'd be leaving AT&T most likely.

Oh lol, the "hey look at my BRAND NEW iPhone!"-guys strike again. gold is soooo 2013/2014, rose gold is 2015 baby!

Would have been one of them though (;)) if the rose gold would be more like copper :( Was disappointed it's so pink/salmon.. :(
I'd like a real copper iPhone, that, when it aged, would get that greenish hue to it. I suspect that Apple won't make one, but, for whatever reason, I like Cu.

That is good news on that...

iPhone 6s/p do very well. It's sold out in most countries now for almost all models. Which is strange, because this is not supposed to be the upgrade cycle yet. On the side note, I love the 3D touch which has been designed well and potentially save a lot of time.

This all seems very confusing. For those with AT&T grandfathered unlimited plan, it seems that keeping a two year contract would be cheaper. Right? Changing plans would end up losing the grandfathered unlimited plan correct?

Correct, $T is not allowing 2-year renewals anywhere but through $T channels, web & stores. They are promoting their payment plan which includes no subsidies. For those with unlimited data plans, the 2-year renewal is by far the least expensive option as the $40/month data sharing isn't charged.

Also, I was up playing XBL and realized, oh look at the time. I went to $T website and pre-ordered 128 space grey 6s+. Shipping was quoted as 2-3 weeks. I had spoken to $T representatives earlier in the week to clarify if 2-year contract would still be an option and was told only directly through $T.

Finally, I ordered AppleCare+ at the time of my preorder through $T and I was charged $99. It appears $T may have been undercharging for that as I'd seen that AC+ was now $129 on 6s+. I would have, and could have, ordered a 6s+ at apple.com available for ship or store pickup on 9/25. No 2-year option made this the first year I've purchased away from apple.

For those who've been using the iP6/+.. do you prefer 6 or 6+?

I have both right now. The Plus I've had for just a few weeks. The 6 is without doubt much easier to hold. Holding onto it as a backup phone, currently running the iOS 9 beta. I got the Plus since the screen is just so much easier to read. I'd say if you don't mind using two hands, get the Plus. Keep in mind you'll be making the Plus even bigger with a case. I don't feel comfortable not using a case.

I would probably do it on a case rather than the actual phone, but there are kits to add patina to an object. Paint with minerals in it and then a topcoat to cause the rusting reaction. I've done the copper one on the solder I've used for stained glass and it's totally legit. Probably should do a clear seal so it doesn't rub off on your hands.

Ordered a 128GB 6S in Space Grey yesterday through Verizon's website with no problems. Says it will be delivered on the 25th. I'm coming from a 64GB 4S, so this will be quite the upgrade.

I think the truth is, the iPhones have gotten such a big market share now, even if only 50% of the owners are ready for a 2 year upgrade, it's enough to cause record sales and running Apple out of stock.

Carriers like T-Mobile are advertising that people are eligible for upgrades after 12 month of payments on an existing phone though, too. So really, the "upgrade every 2 years" concept is fading away. These days, it's more like "Upgrade every year, as long as the new phone offers something you'd like to have. Pay off what you owe on the existing phone and resell it to cover what you still owed the carrier on it, plus a little bit more in most cases."

One good thing (I hope) is that I just got this text from AT&T

just got the same text myself.
Even though My order confirmation shows midOctober, I'm hopeful for quicker for my 6+ Gray 64gb. Knowing Att, I'd bet I get it before mid October though

I got the same text from AT&T and they charged my Credit Card for the phone, however my ship estimate is still Oct16-23.

My delivery date still says 10/16-23 but I think it will be earlier. It seems that everyone who ordered a 6S+ from AT&T their delivery date was 10/16-23 so maybe that was their default. I think this week our delivery dates will move up. (Hoping)

A good indicator is when it shows up on supportprofile.apple.com
