AT&T told me that they allow upgrades beginning on the first day of the month that you are eligible for an upgrade, which in your case would be September 1. Unless this info is wrong, you should be able to pre-order online as long as you do it via AT&T (i.e., I don't know if it would work if you order from the Apple site). Also, I just called about two of my lines which both become upgrade eligible on September 14th. I navigated to the automated eligibility part and got a message that I am eligible to upgrade with a 2 year contract and a $40 upgrade fee. This confirms that it's already properly in the system. You should call and confirm, but the AT&T rep I spoke to said this was definitely the way it worked and based on the above, it looks like it works for me.
Even if this didn't work, couldn't you order it at the higher price and then just return and repurchase it later in the month since there is a 15 day return window?

Can't upgrade at full price on Apple's website. You have to purchase instore or from Verizon.
Base models unlocked for T-Mobile:
$649 for iPhone 6

Ive heard you cant order the new iPhone on apples site Friday at full retail. If you are in a contract and have an upgrade avail it'll make you choose the upgrade.
Interesting. Thanks for the info. I wonder if Verizon pre-order will allow me to pay full price and not use an upgrade? I really don't want to go wait in line at the Apple Store after work next Friday. I did that with the iPhone 5. Took about 2 hours.
This is what I just found out!
I just called Apple and AT&T and they both said even with the next plan available and I still have a year left on my contract, we can still order at the full price. Apple said it won't show that now on the apple store app, but once preorders are available it will show then. This is the same thing that happened to me when I bought the iPhone 5. Hoping this is all true. Anyone hear any different?

Is there any way to order a Verizon iPhone 6 from Apple's website without a contract? Or am I supposed to just order the T-mobile version and put in a Verizon card?

If you have an account/line with Verizon, you either a) are eligible for an upgrade and pay the cheaper subsidized fee or b) pay full retail for the phone ( this will not extend your contract ). However, Apple's system will force you on the cheaper price, you don't get to choose.

Exactly. That's what people are asking. "Can you order an UNSUBSIDIZED full priced Verizon iPhone from Apple's website?"
If the answer is no, then that is it. If there is some way that we are not aware of, that is what we want to know.
(3) phones for me, the wife and the nipper. Eligible for Verizon upgrade so will purchase for contract price through them on 9/12. Service sucks, so after 3.5 weeks will change to ATT and pay the $1,050 early termination. Should still save $210 ($100ea - $30ea upgrade fee) and not have to wait 2mo for the Apple factory unlocked sim-free units.

I've heard that the address has to match the billing address of your carrier (AT&T, Verizon, etc.)
Can anyone actually confirm which one it is?
