Don't understand why they would use a 6.1" screen compared to a 5.4" Mini screen. A 6.1" display with the latest A chip (if it follows the SE trend) and low price would likely canibalise sales from the mainline 6.1" models for people that just want a regular camera.
OLED vs. LCD. The XR 6.1" LCD screen already exists. For the mini, they would either have to use the more expensive (and more premium) OLED screen, or they’d have to design and set up production of a new 5.4" LCD screen. The larger battery probably also facilitates whatever adjustments they make to the internals.

I'm sure many people who would never buy an iPhone SE are happy to hear about these changes.

Those of us who have an iPhone SE aren't so happy, I'm certain.

That said, if Apple want to provide a 5.2 inch full-screen kind of phone with under-display Touch ID, I'd be willing to buy it. Otherwise, I might keep the 2022 iPhone SE until it hits the Obsolete list.

6.1 inches??? THATS HUGE!!

I still had hopes that this upcoming SE wouldn’t be so huge, at just 5.7”. At 6.1 inches, I’ll buy a discounted 14 in the future. If my hand can handle it.

If Apple updates the SE every year, that'll be the iPhone SEX

(Apple's going to use a roman numeral for 10 like they did on the iPhone X and macOS X, right?)
Apple never used numbers on the SE. It’s just the SE (20xy).

I thought it was meant to just be a rebadged iPhone XR with some upgraded internals?

I thought the point of the SE was to offer a small phone as well as an affordable one.
Apple cares about how it can position specs and features so you clearly understand how little value the SE is compared to 11, 12/13 and end up spending more.

But Apple doesn't care about the physical dimensions of iPhones unless the size is too big or small to be attractive to the mainstream consumer.

Giving consumers something like an iPhone 8 Plus sized SE would narrow the gap in value between an SE and a mid-tier 11, or 12/13 too much and start to mess up Apple's sales strategy.

I prefer the current design. I like the bezels, home button and size (and headphone jack, why not, still on 6S).

It would be so cool if they would use 12 mini design and camera system for new SE with touch id side button from ipad mini instead of face id and maybe even a smaller notch (cutout is probably asking too much) for front camera.

But they will probably just use XR body with modern chip and a price hike. Which makes me wanna get current SE while it's still available, even though I'm really not a fan of 8 design and it's missing night mode/ultrawide camera. But at least it's not huge and still has touch id.

That’s sad. The 11 was too large*.

*for me. But of course that means the majority of the public will love it 🙄

By the time this comes out, Face ID will be nearly 6 years old. It's time to bring it to a $429 iPhone.
And by that time, Apple probably will increase the price to $450 or even $500, with FaceID being the main selling feature.

$500 for a XR running an A16 or A17 probably is not too shabby.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought the whole purpose of the notch was to house the True Depth camera along with front facing camera? If they plan on keeping the Touch ID to “keep costs down” then there’s literally no point in having the notch, just go for the hole punch design for the front facing camera. But seeing as Apple has never done that I can almost guarantee that if the new SE has a notch then Touch ID will be gone.

And you thought right.

I don't comprehend why these analysts repeatedly spread these fantasies about Apple giving SEs mid-tier or top-of-the-lineup features like Dynamic Island, new designs, Touch ID side-button, etc.

When have SEs been anything but the most boring, predictable and inexpensive iPhones in a given line-up?

An Xr/11 with A16, A17, or A18 depending on which year it drops. That's SE 4.

Are we still getting those rounded edges and overall shape that were introduced 8 years ago on the iPhone 6?

I know it's mock-up and not a leak, but seriously?
