I'm coming from an iPhone 6. I missed the"firm in hand without a case" feel from my old 4s. SE is just about perfect. 3.5" display would be even better, but I'll solider on somehow.

Someone's opened a can of stupid, but they shook it up first, and now it's spraying out all over the internet. "Rattles"? Really? Has no one stopped to consider that the focus & OIS mechanisms required to focus the cameras, require the lens elements to be suspended on thin metal strips, so they can move around? By shaking your iPhone like a crazed fool, you're probably slamming those mechanisms into one another which is what is rattling.

Here's an image of a CD lens autofocus/autotracking mechanism - older tech, but exactly the same principles and tech are used - a stator magnet(s) that remains fixed, whilst the lens elements are moved around by being suspended on mounts which are affixed to flexible supports, and when the coils (pink) are energised, they repel or attract the stator magnets, moving the lens:

My 6S rattles too, so it's not just a iPhone 5, 5S or 5Se issue. Never noticed it before. I can live with it. I am kinda accustomed to the larger size so I don't think I will be picking this up...but maybe

When you say "iPhone SE power button rattles", guess who you'll attract to your thread like bees to honey? ALL the people (a miniscule percentage of the iPhone customer base, I'll be bound) with rattling power buttons (or so they think - as I said, it may be the autofocus suspension rattling) but that doesn't mean ALL iPhone SE units have this issue - this just magnifies the (non) issue and makes it appear to be FAR WORSE, since you're getting a skewed perspective, and you're NOT hearing fronm the many hundreds of millions of people who DO NOT have any rattling.

Imagine: "I just noticed that if I touch the oven door when I am cooking, I burn my finger and it hurts" - the snowball effect begins... the "me too" comments... wow.

or...

Imagine: "Did you know that there are millions of bacteria on the surface of your skin, ALL the time?"

And so the madness continues.

Button rattle seems annoying, but I never noticed this in my 5s, but I did experience button collapse, where the button doesn't protrude as it once did and while still being completely serviceable, it is not as easy to trigger as when it protruded more.

The iPhone 5s and SE are both excellent devices. I don't consider the power button rattle to be enough to call them anything but excellent. Why exactly does this matter so much to people? Is it hurting them in some way, or seriously detracting from the experience? Last I checked, the iPhone 4, 4s, 5, and 5s all pretty much had the same exact power button, they all rattled a bit, and I don't honestly recall anyone making a big deal out of it until the 6 was released, and everyone suddenly noticed it...

I don't like that it doesn't come with 3D Touch. If Apple is really serious about 3D Touch it really should be a standard across their range of phones, tablets and computers.
The rest of it looks great and I would love to own one!

nothing is rattling on my iPhone SE. All buttons work as they should. Stop this.

Unfortunately there seems to be a trend of people trying to find imperfections and then when they find something minuscule they blow it up to something absolutely huge that apparently requires pages of pontification by the self appointed experts on Mac Rumors.

Just a quick chime in. Stopped into my local Brick and Mortar yesterday. Evaluated the SE. Full Disclosure: I use a 4.7".

I'll admit I had not picked up a 4" iPhone in a long time. But something happened when it fit so perfectly in my hand. The longer I used it the more I could see going back to this from 4.7". It was very light, and blazingly fast. Now, admittedly I do not use Face Time on a phone, and have not used 3D touch as I own a 6.

However, I'm big on initial impressions. The SE had something that kept me wanting to walk out of the store with one. Most likely being the entire time during my demo my (L) hand was never required. :apple:

This is a plain as simple clickbait, absolutely every title on every subject must have a negative element, even something that should be overwhelmingly positive.

You could have a title like: Guy cured cancer and made millions from cancer paitients"

Yeah, button rattles. If I lightly hold my finger on it, the sound goes away, remove the finger and a small rattle.

Small compromise (among the other more technical compromises) for a fast phone I can grip easily again. I remember when I got the iPhone6 missing the 4" model for how it felt to hold. I wonder if I'd like the 6 as much if it just wasn't as slippery to hold?

Small size is perfect? What, for the chap writing this rubbish. Ever heard of the word subjective..

Larger screened phones are perfect. Who's right? None of us, it's all up to the individual to decide.

The second I read that headline I knew it was a biased piece of fluff journalism.

I think for the market they were targeting Apple did well. My wife went from a 5C to the SE because she really really liked the size. If you look at it from the perspective of people who would be moving from those devices like the 4S, 5, 5C, and 5S then it makes a lot of sense. By using the same display assembly really from the 5S Apple also saved on cost. I mean to me the biggest story here is you get a modern iPhone for $400 which is right in that sweet spot for Android phones as well. And this thing is no slouch in performance.

Overall I wouldn't trade my 6S for it but for those users who really liked the smaller form factor (Like my wife) this thing is perfect it hits all the most important bits that they would want I think.

Wow ... people are ecstatic over a reincarnation of an older model.
No, some are excited for a "classic" design with the near-latest internals.

My last iPhone was a 32GB iPhone 4. I thought it was terrific. By the time I was ready for another phone, all that was available were the 6 and 6 Plus. I wasn't a fan of the iPadization of the iPhone body nor the larger size nor the price. So I switched to Android for a season. For me the SE looks great and the unlocked price is excellent.

This Summer (maybe sooner) I'll be getting one... still haven't decided between 16GB or 64GB, but I had a great experience with StraightTalk and the iP4 and look forward to getting back to an iPhone.

haha the apple influence is so amusing.... and the people out there so thirsty to soak it all up... everyone seems to be gushing and raving over a phone that just 2 years ago we where screaming to be over... so in 2 years going back to a 4" phone is cool and exciting... seriously??? And these are the same people that where whining that the 5s was too small and apple was foolish for taking so long to make a bigger phone... We are at a point in mobile technology that mobile software has hit a ceiling and it doesn't really mater how many cores are in ther are software still is what it is. and ios is not very demanding nor are the apps it runs... yea the new iphone will run games better but i cant imagine gaming on such a small screen to be enjoyable...

sorry for the long post but point is its hilarius how apple can backtrack and get praise for basically giving people a product they just whined about and have them love it.

Hint: The iPhone SE is a computer in the conventional sense.
Lol, this has been debated so many times , the iPhone is as much a conventional Computer as a smart tv. You can add bits to it, but that's it.. next you will be saying the ipad Pro is a professional device.

Played with one at Best Buy. May get one for my wife later this year. She has a 5 and wants nothing any bigger. I am large screen only. She may also try one of my son/daughter-in-laws 6's as they may get the 7's in September. Not sure if she wants a 4.7 though.

Impressions--No issues with keyboard size and I have fat fingers. Typing was just as accurate as on my 6sPlus, at least for the time I tried it. Screen resolution is fine for that size screen. Web pages rendered very nice for the small screen. Better than my Samsung S's I owned.

I think with the new camera and Apple Pay it would be worth it for her. All IMHO :)

I just shook my SE and heard the rattling for the first time. I am pretty sure it is the iPhone SE's vibration motor rattling. It seems to be coming from the top-left area of the phone not the power button. If that's the case it's a total non-issue.

You really think the 3.5" display is better? I kept my 4S for sentimental reasons (first iPhone) and every time I update it, I wonder how I could have used such a small screen. Same story when I help my mom with her 5s, but worse with the 4S.

People, I don't mean to sound rude. It's THE SLEEP/WAKE BUTTON that is rattling. If you put your finger on it and the move the phone around, I PROMISE you that the noise will disappear. If it doesn't matter to you, that's great. However, don't try to say that it's not the buttons.
