The Power Button rattling should not be news... bad Apple! That would've never survived the SJ test.

I have an iPhone 5, and now an iPhone SE. Never once noticed it rattles. Now, after shaking and holding it to my ear, it does faintly, but really... Is that an issue to even comment on?!

If it is the camera, then shaking it would probably be a bad idea. Does the camera have moving parts?

Never knew power buttons rattled on 5S's. Are we sure that's not the camera lens/assembly? They are right next to each other... and they are known to rattle.
Neither did I until I read this news item. And sure enough, my SE's power button has a faint rattle. I can hear it if I shake it next to my ear. If I keep my finger on the power button and shake, no rattle sound. So it's the power button or something in contact with it.

Never would have noticed without trying though. Pretty minor thing. Loving my SE otherwise (upgraded from 5C).

There are varying degrees of the rattling button. In my case, it was loose enough that rotating the phone while video recording even picked up the noise of the button. It's definitely unacceptable in many cases. Some tolerances obviously have to be allowed. It concerns me because the only iPhone I ever had break was the result of my iPhone 5's sleep button ceasing to work.

I'm replacing a iPhone 6 (which went to our son) and so far I am quite impressed. I did a lot of side-by-side testing before handing over the 6 to him and the performance improvement is quite noticeable. Biggest one was the Facebook app which seems to take forever to open on the 6. When I tapped both at the same time, the SE was open and running at least 50% faster than the 6. Other apps showed varying degrees of differences with the SE always coming out faster.

The comment concerning the yellowish screen is interesting ... I noticed that right away when I had it side-by-side with the 6. At first I thought it might have something to do with the new Night Shift, but it's my understanding that the color shift to warmer colors is completely OFF during the day. (I have mine set to engage Sunset-Sunrise only). I'll have to look into this a bit more.

Overall, I really like the smaller form factor. I didn't mind the 6 (although I totally rejected the 6 Plus as being way too big), in fact I had grown used to it, but this does feel better to me. No problems at all with "quality" issues ... and no rattle!

Cheers!!

Ken

Power button on iPhone 5 and 5S and even 4 and 4S has no issues so same 5S parts for iphone 5S has power button rattle ??????? God these people are like my bitch wife. Have mercy on their soul.

I just tried it and I did hear the faint rattle -- but only when shaking the phone lengthwise. It was definitely coming from the home button, not the camera. Odd. However, my iPhone is not a can of shaving cream, so I should be okay.

Love my SE. Really miss using a phone with one hand. I, for one, have small hands so this phone is great for me. Haven't noticed the power button rattle problem. But I didn't use it without a case neither.
[doublepost=1459551861][/doublepost]I also do think battery has been improved. I used it heavily today and managed to get out of work with about 25% more battery than what I normally had on my 6.

One of the primary reasons I like the iPhone SE form factor is because I don't need a case with it. Especially after using a 6 and 6S, it didn't at all feel like it was leaving my hand and taking a fall. Therefore, putting a case on it to stop the rattle/wiggle isn't an option for me.

I'm glad everyone isn't bothered by such things, but I have a very high sense for details and noise. Also, it's clearly possible to make the buttons have a solid feel and click. My 6S has absolutely no play in the buttons and makes a firm click when using them. It would eliminate a lot of stress in my life if little inconsistencies and errors didn't bother me. Guess my sense for errors and risk is why I'm in Compliance!

i always knew about the rattling on my 5s, but it never occurred to me that it could be the power button. I pretty much confirmed it by resting my finger on it while i shook the phone.. and there was no rattling.

Somewhere on this planet, someone is in tears over this rattling power button I'm sure!!!!??? Now on to the next real world problem.

Easily the best phone Apple's ever produced.
If thats the best, the rest must have been pretty darn woeful.

What about the coating coming off on the 5, no problem either, these things are supposed to be the BMW of the phone world, not the Hyundai.

I noticed that on my 5s the NightShift did not turn of one morning for some reason. I checked all the settings and it should have been off, so I ended up restarting my 5s. So it's entirely possible that's what you were experiencing since it's the same screen hardware.

So it's the power button that causes the rattle?! I always thought it was the camera lens on my iPhone 5.

Amazing they haven't fixed it after all these years!!

The lack of 3D touch is just lazy and negligent. I like the 4" size but it's a no-go for me until they bring it up to par feature-wise. Fragmentation!

Could some of the parts in these phones literally come from swapped out/old iPhone 5/5S phones? Might be a stupid question. I'm just curious if that would be possible.

Wake me up when there's some solid Mac news.

OK Rip. Have a good sleep.

Ohhhh... So my friend who just got the SE was asking me, "What's that rattle?" I thought he was asking me, "What's a battle?", and I thought he was an idiot. You see, I have a cold, so I hear my "R's" as "B's".

Get well soon Siri. :D

Honestly, that rattle you're hearing might just be the camera inside.
Actually I'm pretty sure it's probably the SIM ejector arm not the button or camera at all. I've opened them up a lot and that is the only thing that can move freely, also I just tested it by holding the button while shaking my 5. Same noise. On a side note, it takes quite a bit of force so I'm not sure how someone would notice this in normal use.
