Apple is likely to sell over 20 million iPhone SE 4 units this year, making it the most popular iPhone SE model ever, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

In a new post on X, Kuo said that the fourth-generation iPhone SE is expected to see shipments of approximately 12 million in the first half of 2025 and 10 million in the second half of 2025–which is apparently better than previous iPhone SE models.

The new device will reportedly reduce the impact of lower iPhone shipments at this time of year, as well as "accelerate the penetration of models that support Apple Intelligence."

Kuo also noted that the iPhone SE's custom modem may be the source of patent litigation from Qualcomm. The company apparently believes it may be able to obtain part of the patent licensing fees from Apple's custom modem to reduce losses from cancelled component orders.

The new iPhone SE is expected to debut as soon as next week, featuring the A18 chip, a larger 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, a USB-C port, Apple Intelligence support, and more.

The first SE was my favorite one.
Then friends and wifey gave me the iPhone 11 refurbished, which I'm still loving it, despite the aged battery. I'm not a huge phone user, so no problem. If I had to buy one in those days, I would had bought the SE 2, but the 11 is really great.
With the imminent launching of the new SE, I think I will buy one! It is simple for me: I would buy refurbished, and pay 500€ maximum. If I can get this new technology, I guess it will be a great improvement over this 2019 phone. But let's see. I also love buying refurbished.

For comparison, the iPhone SE was projected to sell 15 million units in 2016. (Total iPhone sales in 2015 and 2024 were approximately equal.)

I had the first SE 2016 which was amazing and had very few compromises compared to the current flagship. Then came the 2020 SE, I was hyped at first and planning to upgrade to it, but begrudgingly had to pass since the camera didn't support night mode. I bought Pixel 3a instead and didn't regret it considering how many great photos I made in less than ideal lighting conditions over these years.
Let's see if this one can challenge the likes of Pixel 9/Galaxy S 24. I doubt it'll surpass SE 1 on value, but I'm due for an upgrade and it could be a genuine option if Apple delivers.

I agree. Even though a vocal, but tiny minority keep saying that they want a small phone with Touch ID, a huge portion of the user base sees a small budget phone with decade old design as not worthy to buy.

A lot of people want something cheap with a decent screen size, that doesn't look like it was designed in 2015, and they go and pick a cheap Android phones. Now Apple is finally (hopefully) offering something for them.
