I would imagine the iPhone SE is less profitable for Apple so, despite customer satisfaction, I expect Tim will kill it along with the iPad mini. At this stage Apple's No. 1 goal is shareholder profits. Anything less than obscene profits is fair game for the axe. After all, Apple knows best!
Really hope you're wrong... :(

Despite it's popularity here, you have to imagine most owners of the SE are not particularly tech savvy and have much lower expectations than owners of the flagships. It's a small iPhone but that certainly doesn't make it better than even the 6S.

For some, good is good enough. For others like myself, we prefer moving forward a little faster.

Still using an iPhone 5, but it's barely holding on. I thought I might eventually move to an SE, but now I'm a bit torn. I got excited by rumors of an all glass iPhone again (the 4 was my favorite), but the so-called 8 looks like it's going to be slightly bigger than the 7s and I really prefer the smaller form factor.

Here's hoping whatever I pick has the longevity that the 5 did. I'm past the need-to-always-have-the-latest phase-- now I'm at the point where changing devices is more of a pain than its worth. The 5 already does everything I need-- calls, texts, email, browser, music... Only giving it up because it's starting to reboot if I try to update more than one or two apps at a time-- think it's a temperature issue...
Right now, you could find a used SE, in great condition, for a great price, on CL. Get one of those, and just hang out until the 8 drops. If you like the 8, trade in the SE; if not, welcome to the club!

No surprise here to anyone except Apple, who seems to be intensely focused on creating products customers don't want.

I know Steve Jobs liked the quote about skating where the puck will be, but this can be taken too far.

You state that in a thread praising and showing the top notch sales of a product that Apple created which it seems EVERYONE wants.

Logic fail, contradiction win.

I love the form factor of the SE, but geez it sucks being punished specs wise because of this. I wish I could have the latest iPhone at this size instead lagging a couple gens behind. It bums me Apple doesn't do it.

What do you use your iPhone for, DNA sequencing?

This thread makes me regret so much the fact i sold my SE last week and got replaced by an Iphone 7 bought on the second-hand market. I thought that more powerfull device and having the top of the line product would be better but i was wrong. I found the tiny SE so much more convenient, easy to handle in one hand and it has such a beautifull design. But it's to late, i did a mistake and I don't want to waste money anymore so i have to keep my Iphone 7 and cope with it for a while but if another edition of the SE is planned and finaly released that's gonna give me another chance and i'll get it without any hesitation !

It's been my job title for 30 years. I have never heard anyone refer to product design as industrial design except on this board, where I see it constantly.

We don't say "I'm going to industrial design this cockpit/bike frame/furnishings set". It's ridiculous.
Well, yes that's ridiculous because you're using wrong. You're using it as an adverb.

You mean the camera bump gives you love on the 7+ and the 6+ is tasteless? Aha.

Except of the black color what else is different? And don't tell me the missing headphone jack :)
clean design in better color options. cleaning up and tightening up a design is always better design. Vs sloppy and tacky design elements.

There! You learned something today. Go tell the other kids and pat yourself on the back.

How is the LG G4, LG's biggest lemon over the past 5 years, their one phone on this list? I guess maybe just the timing of this report and the failure of the G5?

I replaced my iPhone 6S Plus easily with the iPhone SE. It is a very capable smart phone. I do now have an iPhone 7 Plus and the incremental updates since the iPhone 6Plus was introduced have made it one of the most feature rich and optimally specced iPhones I've owned. But I am still going to take the sim out of it and put it into my SE for the summer, because it's hard to beat the form factor of the SE for comfort if you want to keep a smart phone with you while wearing light summer clothes, especially if you're a petite person.

There is a side of me that does also crave what the "phablets" have to offer. So I will also have my Galaxy S8+ on hand. And I'll be returning to my 7 Plus in the Fall.

I'm pleasantly surprised that the SE beats the 7s Plus in customer satisfaction. I absolutely love my SE, so I'm glad to see it's getting the love it deserves.

Or maybe the reports of failure aren't representative of owners in general. It could be the same reason why Samsung phones rank high on this list despite the opinion here of "Samdung" phones. ("Samdung" being the "Microshaft" epithet for a new millennium)

I will never leave the SE. I got a 6 plus on launch day. Downsized to the 6s when that came out because I thought it was too big. Handled an SE in a store and all the memories came back to me with how convenient it was. Got an SE a couple weeks later. I have a 7 in my bag for work but haven't turned it on in weeks. I couldn't image leaving this size and form factor.

Really surprised to see the iPhone 6 Plus ranked so high. That was by far the worst iPhone I've ever had, and I've owned most of them. I must have had a lemon.

My wife loves her iPhone SE. Swapping out her iPhone 5 for SE last year was a great call. The cost to performance ratio was insane. I hope Apple continues to update it at least every two years.

More so then a better contrast screen that's up to par with 7, alongside that I wish outdoors visibility was a lot better. In the day the screen is nott that bright outdoors

You like the SE that's great. But no need to knock everything else.

I have a 6 and a work issued SE - I much prefer the 6. My wife has a 6s, she's 50/50 about preferring the form factor of the SE or that of her larger phone - she has smaller hands. Unbelievably, different people like different things.

I also like my AirPods (the biggest "wow" moment tech wise I've had since Touch ID), iPad Pro (especially for work use) and Apple Watch from my other Apple products which were released recently.

Ah I'm part of this crowd, love my iPhone SE :)

I used to be a huge fan of big phones too, I was on the Galaxy Tab 7 (7" phone), than the ASUS PadFone (11" Laptop/Tablet Phone), than the Xperia Z Ultra (6.3" phone), than iPhone 6+... and finally went back to a super small phone (iPhone SE).

The main reason I went to smaller phones was simply because when I'm home, I'm on my iPad/MacBookMacMini, when I'm at work I'm on a MacBook... so it didn't make sense to carry a bulky phone around.

Although I wish the Apple Watch had a SIM so I didn't need to carry my phone around, than I finally have nothing in my pockets (my money is on Apple Pay, my phone is my watch).

/end of my long boring story

My story is the opposite. Really didn't like the thought of bigger phones (except for better battery). Thought I would miss 1 handed use. etc.

Bought the 6 at launch and after a few weeks (where I almost sold it) it really grew on me. Was going to get the 7 Plus last year but as the 6 is working so well and rumours of a 2017 redesign I held off. I also got an SE as my work handset, it's nice, but I much prefer the 6's screen real estate. I've found I use my iPad and MacBook less as a result of the bigger screen.

I'm glad Apple provide a choice though. Everyone can pick what works best for them. Hopefully the SE gets an update for those that prefer its form factor.
