It will be easily above £2K in the UK but I don't care, I just don't buy so expensive mobile phones. However I can't wait for the first rumors regarding the price of that high end MacBook Ultra.

Please don’t tell me this will need a case. Finally let foldable phones be what helps us get rid of the terrible need for cases

People need to stop sticking their noses in their phones 24/7. I have never been in line at the grocery store and NEED a bigger screen to do something. Or even at the doctors office. As a society, we need less screen time. Take breaks and have micro-detox tech breaks. On plane rides, doctors office visits, etc I rarely bring out my phone.
“Everybody should be like me, because it’s the right way to be and everyone else is doing it wrong”

It’s absolutely not a worse experience—especially for typing, reading (especially responsive Web sites), and editing that are all far better with more real estate for the same reason there was justification for an iPad mini.

Calendar, spreadsheet, and productivity apps are all improved with such versatility.
Larger screens are good for viewing larger things, yes, but not for on-the-go usability, in my opinion, since I constantly have to be changing how I'm holding the phone and worrying about dropping it one handed. And that's not even to mention the lack of actual screen real estate usage that has happened now that we have larger screens. A 4.7" iPhone has the same number of viewable apps on the home screen as a 6.9" iPhone, and all that means is they're just spaced out more and slightly larger icons. Same applies for apps like Music and Mail, where the text is just larger, and doesn't actually give you more content for the larger screen compared to older, smaller iPhone screens. I'd rather have more usable space for things like that if I'm forced to get a larger screen for my phone.

I wanted the device soooo badly. But I wanted a pro max that opens up along with face id. I’m not going back to touch id
if you have an Apple Watch, that can be used to unlock the iPhone and perform other tasks which will make not having Face ID a little easier

I bought a Pixel Fold 10 Pro as a secondary phone. The folding phone experience is a gimmick that wears out fast. I'll stick to single slab phones as it is more convenient.

And carrying my 32” 4k monitor and desktop with me everywhere would be even bigger and better than an iPad, if we are talking about devices that don’t fit in my pocket.
That's the thing, we're no longer talking about devices that fit in pockets... even the iPhone Air is too big for a pocket 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have no real problems with them fitting in my pocket, the wider and less tall Fold will fit even better though. That’s the appeal, unfolded it’s iPad mini sized and folded it fits better in my pocket than my Air.

Won't fit in my pocket so I can't carry it that way. Any rumours of very reasonably priced wheels that I can option at point of purchase 😀?

You’re a luddite and the world of pocket computers doesn’t revolve around your limited use cases nor mine

if I use the current conversion rate, add taxes, the total ends up being $3071 CAD, assuming the starting price is $1999usd.

Curious to see how Apple positions it, but at this price point (which isn't out of the realm of possibility), for people like me who often have both the latest iPhone Pro and iPad Pro, the value prop here is pretty small. At this price this would seem to be a device that would replace both, instead. I love my iPad so not sure I'm willing to make that switch just yet.

The Ultra or Fold is going to be the most unique and evolutionary iPhone in over a decade.
People will line up to get one just because it's new and different.
Alas, people still line up every year to get basically the same phone we've had for the past 6 years with just a better camera... hahaha

Is it going to be better than the z fold? Because that crease sucks. And the screen looks great at night but during the day looks like a thin plastic piece of crap. I’d rather walk around with an iPad mini in my pocket personally.

Our society is collapsing. Kids these days have zero attention span since they just browse TikTok all day. We need to step away from our screens.

For $1999 it should start at 512GB. But with current SSD prices we’ll be lucky to get the 256GB.

Also I don’t get how you can call it Ultra when it has an inferior camera system to the Pro. And it probably won’t have full water proofing. Imagine if they somehow put an M6 in it, though, with 16GB memory, and you can connect it to a display like the iPad Pro for multitasking and keyboard/mouse use. That would make it more appealing for the enthusiasts who are more likely to purchase this.

A little worried about the passport/book style. The passport style looks unusable folded. There's a reason why all the Android alternatives slowly moved to the current "normal phone" that folds out style (Fold 7, N6, Vivo, Honor Magic, etc)

Apple could do with waiting for the Fold 8, which has both designs. Then go with whatever customers want

I am sure Apple will charge Fold 8 price +$100...
