Fine, but even if they had 100,000 per state, I'd bet they would still sell out.

I mean, just because they sell out doesn't mean they only had 12 for sale on opening day. People seem to be so hung up on the drama...

Apple called today. My wife's will actually be ready for her on Friday. No need for a time. Just has to say she's part of the upgrade plan. She'll then get her phone.

As I'm getting the jet black, I have to wait a couple weeks.

Apple, so very happy with you right now!

Yikes. Lol @ starting an upgrade program and then not having enough initial stock on hand to honor it. That's bad.

Will they switch out to the model you wanted if you have a reservation for a model you don't want already? I tried calling them and talked to a rep who said that because I have a reservation they can't change it? Anyone in the same boat?

We were both able to reserve an iPhone 7 Black 128gb at 3:20am EST 9/9; however, I had wanted a 7 plus (black/jet black 128/256gb) and my partner a Jet Black 7 128gb. So I called in yesterday and it took about 30 minutes to get to the iPhone sales and about another hour to make it into the secret iPhone Upgrade department. I explained our preferences; however, that we would settle, in order to avoid future payments on our current phones. I was explained our current reservation would remain unaffected - if they find something in the next 48 hours, they would let us know and at that time alter the reservation. In total I was on the phone for over 2 hours... The follow up email was delivered with the top secret rep's direct number and email address. Originally I had thought maybe on launch day they might have some stock left in store that I could switch to, though our appointment is after work and would assume the stock would all dry up by then.

It sounds like you didn't get transferred to the IUP team? You might need to try again. My guess is that they'd let you switch if they have the phone you want available, but if you don't talk to one of the specialists there's no knowing if they will.

Well I just passed 48 hours. Now what?
[doublepost=1473795714][/doublepost]

Did you try a call? It kinds of looks like no one is getting calls today.

I tried calling my rep about 20 minutes ago but no answer. I'll be sending him a follow up email as well. I think you're right, doesn't seem like anyone is getting call backs today

Passed the 48 hr mark but haven't received a call either. (Called 11:30am PST on Sunday). Maybe we got pushed to the 72 hour mark? I'm still encouraged though based on some of the previous posts..but I would love to hear the "you may go into the store on Friday" call!! :)

Scratch that. I just received my call about 54 hours later. And the news so far wasn't that good. He said thus far, there were no phones around my area so no magic "go in on launch day" (I ordered the regular black 128 GB Verizon model). But he said he'd keep checking. He said, he'd give me another call within the next 24 hours (so technically total 72 hrs from when I initially gave my info). Nice of him to call and let me know though. So..we'll still see!

Yeah this is ridiculous. I got no call. Good thing I have a preorder with AT&T Next that I might receive on launch day or next week. I'll be more than happy to keep that and sell this phone and pay off this POS upgrade program. Apple really screwed up on this one.

Yeah we've had a bad experience on order day and now they've set an expectation (we'll get back to you in 48 hours) and then not delivered on it. I expect I will get the "we're still working on it but no luck so far" call tomorrow, a day after they promised a call back. This is an example of how not to deal with customers.

It should not had been this much efforts on our end had they allowed us to the same opportunity as new people signing up for IUP. It's ridiculous. They deserved that law suit.

Misc. updates (2.5 hours on the phone today):

- the person who promised me the 48 hour call back on Sunday has been fired (extension deactivated)
- another rep told me she would have been the only one who could help me with my existing request
- subsequently I was told there was no record of my request anywhere
- one rep tried to put the 7+ into the Apple Store shopping card for me - which failed. Then she transfered me to help desk, which had a "business hours are ..." [right now], then disconnected
- if you dial the Apple #, every other time you get "this person has a voicemail that has not been configured ...", then hang up
- I was told that the Apple Store and hotline will not be able to make outbound calls until after launch day
- in the last hour, the procedure changed again - now I am being directed to the preorder link, with launch day pickup availability for all models except Jet Black (this is in Bellevue, WA)
