Century City mall in Los Angeles was a complete nightmare. The line was long as crap, and I ended up with about an hour wait. Once I was in and working on the upgrade everything was smooth as possible.

Took about 90 minutes in the store, wait to get to a person was long and the T-Mobile site is a nightmare. Approved in no time and done.

Waited an hour at the Flagship San Francisco store. Successfully purchased via Apple Upgrade Program on an AT&T FAN account.

What's not fun though is immediately after on my way to the airport I began getting a dozen calls from loan sharks/organizations thanking me for my loan inquery and to call them so they can finish the loan applicatio process. What is up with that? Are these sales scare tactics or did I get my identity stolen??

Why don't they allow the upgrade program to be done online and then you just come pick up the phone via reservation? People are queuing up only to be denied and it seems like a waste of time.

I agree. I hope they change to an online check next year at the very least. I'm sorry to hear about all the rejections -- especially of people who have a case for being approved -- but I imagine the worst part is to take time off, stand in line, and get denied in person with no recourse.

Weird. That didn't happen to me at all. All I got was an email from citizens giving me my loan summary.

Was in Durha North Carolina. Waited about 30 min. And got to a sales guy. Had originally ordered silver 64gb but I changed my mind and they let me swap for a black. Very easy and quick. Approved with a 660avg score

Although anyone using the loan program. You have to pay the tax on the first payment installment. So 35 month plus 65$ in my state

Tried to do the upgrade plan, but the T-Mobile app on the ipad they were using would not process my info. They gave me excuses like there may be a limit to how many upgraders are on a single cell account. (two of my lines earlier today used the upgrade program fine) Now when I went to do it, being the lead of the account wouldn't work. So i bought the phone outright. Just ticks me off how poorly T-Mobile was prepared for this, and no rep was on site, they "couldn't make it in".

That's disturbing. I don't know if I'd worry about a stolen identity just yet, but you should keep an eye on your accounts just to be sure.

There's absolutely nothing there suggesting it's a hard pull. Sorry. All it shows is someone checked your credit, not if it was a soft or hard pull.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Hard pulls appear instantly on reports and trigger updates on any CRA subscriber (like other banks, credit sesame, etc, etc).

Credit Sesame only shows hard pulls as CRAs don't push updates for soft pulls.

No surprises here since Citizens is providing you with a personal loan.

I was told more than once by an apple rep before today that this would not necessitate a hard pull. Reading this thread from the beginning (took an hour btw) it appears that most have been hard inquiried although some have not seen any hard inquiry yet.

I'd love to know those that haven't seen an inquiry yet, if they still won't a few business days from now.

Also, if they are indeed supposed to be hard inquiries, how could they do this to people each year just for upgrading? Seems counterproductive and a definite negative for joining the program.

After reading this thread, I'm less excited about the whole thing.

I plan on reading this thread for another week before deciding how to proceed.

Thank you everyone for your input and time today! Very informative ( but frustrating).

The employee helping me had to switch over to a laptop for the processing to work correctly.

Except guess what?! I don't have a hard pull after getting approved. Thanks for being an arrogant dick.

They won't be hard pulls every year.

And guess what? No hard pull.

Wrong.

You're spreading misinformation with poor knowledge of how the credit system works. There are enough posts *showing* hard pulls to disprove you.

Please pull fresh copies of your 3 reports to prove your no hard pull claim.

Why would anyone extend you over $1000 in credit without a hard pull?

The wait was pretty long (75 or so minutes in line), but the upgrade process itself was painless. Easy, quick approval.

The guy I was working with said that this process was the same each year, aka a new credit check each time, but he said they were all told that they'd be soft credit pulls. I don't believe it, since it's applying for financing like anything else, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Other than that, was no issues, and walked out with a 6s+ activated an ready to go.

Showed up at 2:55 for my 3:00 appointment. Was out of there by 3:15. Longest time was waiting for the phone from the back. I do have 2 pending charges for $134.73 so I'll have to check on that later.

I don't even have the charges they said I would. Just the one from today.

I have a charge for $0.00 and a charge for $109.. Neither of which are the correct amount that my first payment should be. Seems very odd to me as well..
