I would try to the Apple upgrade program. As long as you have an active line, you should still be good.

It didn't make sense to me because i'm going to be using my credit and credit card to pay for the apple program. but my line is on my mom's account. so they said i would need to open a new line in my own name for the apple upgrade program to work.

I'm not sure if this is true but I was at the verizon store trying to upgrade to 6s. I'm an authorized user on my moms account. However, they wanted me to put down 40% for the iPhone (they use my mom's info to determine the 40%). i told them forget it i'll try the apple upgrade program using my credit. They said either way i would still have to put down 40% at the apple upgrade program because they use my mom's info for the account. is that right?
They are probably mixing up Edge with the iUP. The first payment is 1 month + sales tax.

Shouldn't need to. You'll need her account information but that's it.

My sister got hers today with the program. She pulled up her credit report and it did show hard pull. Ive seen maybe 50 to 1 people saying hard pull so I think its a hard pull.

I have two of those from both loans I got this weekend. This might be a different charge. No information, called "OTHER/MISC", and an address in NY. Searching for the address brings up First Data Merchant Services. I'm hoping its related but still aren't completely sure.
Same here. That mystery charge from that same location is the exact charge for month 1 on my receipt (finally found it) for the first installment and tax.

Why it's marked with things that no one would recognize is beyond me. Not from Rhode Island (where Citizen's is), not with their name, lol. Did they already outsource the payment collection?

And the other three month charge I got is, as we thought, pending, and should evaporate.

They could have done this a lot more simply and transparently.

Now it's said all they want back at the end of the year is the actual phone? That's cool, but I had fun yesterday getting everything moved to the new phone. Would love to be able to not have to give it up before I restore the new one. As was said, I'd love to preorder, deliver by mail, and get 'credit' for the old phone in some reasonable time period (i.e., mail it back). But that's probably too much to ask, since we are starting a new loan every year.

More details to be worked out.

It is indeed a hard pull. Mine took a day or so to show up but sure enough checked Credit Karma yesterday and there it was on my Equifax CR.

What is even more surprising is I have had way too many hard inquiries on my Equifax this year, so Citizen One must not be basing eligibility on the number of hard pulls on record. Also my score overall isn't that stellar either.

I had no problems signing up for the IUP with my Barclaycard, more than likely because I contacted my credit card company ahead of time.

Took me long enough to figure it out. It really needed to be clearer on the transaction.

I'm assuming that they'll want the phone in person but it could change. I believe the carriers let you ship your old phone back (T-Mobile does). So it's possible this can happen. It's interesting that there's no way to initiate that through Apple right now (not that there would need to be one yet). Next year will be an interesting experience.

Any news on using the AUP and not being upgrade eligible? I would imagine that being separate programs but I have read two different stories about this.

Did anyone that is *not* upgrade eligible successfully do the AUP?

Me. My line with AT&T is not upgrade eligible and I did the AUP with no issue. All you're obligated to do is finish out the terms of your existing contract with your carrier (mine is up in May 2016). I'll sell my iPhone 6 that I bought subsidized with a two year contract a year ago. As far as AT&T is concerned it's a Bring Your Own Device and has nothing to do with contract or eligibility.

The Apple Store wouldn't even let me apply. My drivers license has a different address than my AT&T account. They said they needed a utility bill with my name on the carrier address, but because I rent, none of the utilities are under my name. I had to use AT&T Next instead. Ridiculous. Just at least do a credit check first.

All of this was in the reservation email. You have absolutely no utility in your name? Internet, natural gas, electricity, water...nothing?

But on that note, I never had to produce the additional documentation. My ID does not reflect my current address but I had my electricity bill every time.

Did the iPhone Upgrade Program and paid using Amex. I had no issues I was in and out in 15 minutes.

Finally worked after 3 visits!!! :)

1st Visit (Friday):

Spent 2.5 hours at the store trying to get approved, but the apple employees didn't really know how to do the upgrade program through T-Mobile, and then got declined because of Citizens system not working. Finally told them I just wanted to buy the phone, but they somehow ended up financing it through T-Mobile...

2nd Visit (Saturday):

Was at the store for 1.5 hours and iUP was working, but there was a glitch with T-Mobile so they could not get iUP to work for T-Mobile customers. Was about ready to give up at this point.

3rd Visit (Sunday):

Went back today and spent 2 hours at the store. First there was an issue with returning the phone (got an error saying returning the phone would not cancel the T-Mobile finance agreement, so had to call T-Mobile and sort that out). After that was all taken care of and they could process the return, signing up for iUP and getting approved took 10 min.

Happy finally worked out and I didn't give up. For reference, my credit sore is 775, and used my Discover card to sign up with a limit of $5600 and cash back limit of $400.

If Citizens Bank underwrites loans on a lot of other stuff like this, they may be soft pulling the people with whom they have an "already existing" relationship with (or at lease think they do). That's what soft pulls are for.

I had a very similar experience to you, except that I ended up buying the phone outright after spending an hour trying to get it done through T-Mobile. I made another appointment for yesterday and they told me that T-Mobile was still down and they still couldn't do it. So I left and went to the T-Mobile store just to see what they could do. I found out that I could get a 64GB 6S Plus for $99 down and $25 a month on their Jump on demand program. So I just went ahead and did that. When I get it I'm just going to return the one I bought from Apple.

Correct. I live in my fiancé's place, so every utility is under her name. This has been a learning experience about adulthood lol.

My DL address is different from my home/billing address. Successfully did 2 AUP (one yesterday and one today). Never did they use my DL for anything other than just verifying it was me. Just confirmed that the billing address on their device matched my CC billing address before pressing submit!

It was a breeze. So no, the different address thing isn't correct.

Same here, my address on DL is not my home (it's work). Did 2 AUP...never had to produce any additional documentation :)

Figured this could indeed be the case... But I held back cause of you know who.

My Mother decided to go with the iPhone 6S+ and after doing the whole AUP received two charges, one for phone and one for the Apple Care. My Mom was taken aback by this, because her and I both thought the Apple Care was included in the monthly price of the phone. Has anyone else had this experience?

First Data is the largest credit card payments processor in the country. Merchants (Apple) send their transactions through card processors who split the amount (fees+charges) between the merchant, the acquirer (the bank), and the association (Visa/Amex)

That's how it should have been. Are you sure it's one for the phone and one for AppleCare? What are the names?

Yep. Just caught some of us off guard as it was processed the day after.
