That sucks. I hope they'd still deliver the phones on launch day and give us a couple weeks to trade in the old phone vs having all AUP people going to the store on launch day. They have our credit card info so it's easy enough to charge the remaining balance on the old phone if it isn't returned.

It could all change before next year. I think, glitches from a new program aside, this went smooth. I don't mind not having a phone on launch day - especially after seeing just how much inventory they had yesterday - if I'm able to upgrade every year and not be beholden to my carrier.

I got a charge last night for $120.37 which is the first payment per Citizens agreement was to be made "Three business days after your Apple Store purchase is complete."

Since it's a pending charge I assume it will be final by Tuesday/Wednesday so yeah 3 days.

I have two of those from both loans I got this weekend. This might be a different charge. No information, called "OTHER/MISC", and an address in NY. Searching for the address brings up First Data Merchant Services. I'm hoping its related but still aren't completely sure.

Oh ok. The only charge I had Friday was the test charge for the 3 months payment that was debited and credited immediately. Last nights was the actual first payment called "IPHONE CITIZENSONELOAN"

I never got the test charge. Maybe that's what this is. Was it a generic name?

Pretty sure the iPhone upgrade program and Apple Watch Edition are the beta test for future Apple Car purchasing.

No both the debit and credit were labeled "IPHONE CITIZENSONELOAN"

I figured this out. Keep an eye out for these extra charges as they are what you are actually being charged at the store.

I had to look at my receipts and compare to what the charges are. Sure enough, both are the first installment plus tax. Those others, like you said, are the first three months. I would have preferred a little bit more information on these transactions.

I just did the AUP.

Reserved a phone this morning and went into the store when it opened. Basically gave the guy my credit card and driver's license, agreed to a bunch of stuff and it went through smoothly.

I have AT&T with unlimited data and am mid-contract, *NEW# says i'm eligible in April, the AUP doesn't affect the contract at all. I didn't have any issues.

How did they activate the new phone on your account if you aren't upgrade eligible? Did you add it as an additional line and swap SIMs?

I also have the grandfathered unlimited data plan with AT&T and they treat this transaction like a "BYOD" (Bring Your Own Device) since the new phones are technically unlocked. So essentially you aren't using a contract upgrade or making any plan changes, you're just swapping your device.

I'll keep posting this from time to time for newcomers to the thread, Apple answered the Hard a Pull on upgrade renewal with verification from Citizens One Bank.

That's his carrier's upgrade eligibility. The iPhone Upgrade Program isn't affected by that.

Ahh, "grandfathered unlimited data plan" - I guess that's different, because I'm on a 2 year contract and I'm 1 year in. I don't think I'd have the same results because my iPhone 6 purchase from AT&T was subsidized. I'm thinking they'll make me add the IUP iPhone as an additional line...

No, they won't. You can upgrade your phone as long as you keep paying for the phone you bought from them or buy it out. I've done this under contract before.

So when Apple says you "must activate" the IUP iPhone in store during the purchase process, they just mean you need to have an valid carrier account to put it on?

Yep. This is you upgrading your device separate from your carrier. You should be able to do it even when ineligible for a carrier upgrade.

And every time I say that we all have different answers.

Just take your "win" and be happy. Like I stated yesterday, everyone is "supposed" to get a hard pull on the first phone. This comes from Citizens One. Not everyone will for one reason or another. But the vast majority will receive the initial hard inquiry.

Nothing else needs to be said. Maybe you got to be a lucky one of the few who didn't. But you should have.

I don't consider mine a win. What I want people to know is that there are no solid answers this entire weekend. We're expecting proper answers from a loan processor over the weekend? Holy ****.

Your answer came from an Apple rep who may or may not have this information. We will all have different experiences and answers. If people are so in the dark about what happens when applying for a loan they shouldn't be applying.

I'm not trying to get in a playground dispute with you about anything. But Apple did contact Citizens One yesterday to get the definitive answer. They are "hard pulling" credit. There are some like yourself where this won't happen. But the intent from the Bank is a hard one. This is a Solid Answer!

It should be considered a "win" for you because the intent is a hard one and you didn't get it. Sooooooooo...

I am currently using the T-mobile $30 prepaid plan, and I don't really want to sign up for a new plan. I heard that you can sign up for a plan at the Apple Store and just cancel it right when you walk out, and then stick in your sim. Is this true? Anybody try this yet?

I'm not sure if this is true but I was at the verizon store trying to upgrade to 6s. I'm an authorized user on my moms account. However, they wanted me to put down 40% for the iPhone (they use my mom's info to determine the 40%). i told them forget it i'll try the apple upgrade program using my credit. They said either way i would still have to put down 40% at the apple upgrade program because they use my mom's info for the account. is that right?

Not trying but perpetuating.

I would try to the Apple upgrade program. As long as you have an active line, you should still be good.
