That means it's included.

My interpretation of included meant it was complimentarily included. I get it, I'm not mad. I just think Apple could have explained it more clearly. The rep and store manager agreed enough with me that they gave me a free case. So, I'm cool with it.

Not proud of it, but on the road to redemption.

Same here. I'm up to 640-650 and continuing to work hard to get to 700 land.

I'm curious if mid 600's are approved. I was approved for AT&T Next but I think since I've been a customer for over 15 years that the credit score may not count as much.

Strange. I just applied and got declined. I have upper tier credit (788). Doesn't make sense. Only reason I can think of is I used to have a fraud alert on my credit report. Oh well. I just paid for it outright. Now I will patiently wait for the rejection letter explaining the reasons. They said I would receive in the mail in a few days. I haven't been declined for credit in 20+ yrs - made me feel young :)

One more screen shot with other hard inquiries from my credit report. View attachment 585715

mjfriend is absolutely correct. These are hard pulls on the credit reports.

This is a big negative to the program, in my opinion. Sad that millions of people are going to be taking a hit to the credit reports for this program by the hard pull, new account and depending on the credit profile, a hit to the Average Age of Accounts.

I heard that this program will not work with prepaid accounts. Is this true? I have AT&T GoPhone service.

This is what I was told at the Apple Store when I went to use it today. I'm on Straight Talk and they said the IUP required "an established account". I was helped by a deaf/dumb employee so I wasn't sure if it was just miscommunication or not, but it sounds like that's the case.

Deaf/dumb? Wow.

But it's not surprising. Almost every credit check is a hard credit check. It's the same as applying for financing or a credit card essentially.

How accurate is Credit Karma?

Accurate. It pulls from TransUnion and Equifax.

Where's your proof to back this up?

Not true. A lot of credit applications do not do hard pulls now.

There might be some but the majority still do. It's dependent on the financial institution.

Yes but I think many of us were hoping it would be a soft. Companies are able to retrieve out credit profile with a soft inquiry so why not use it with this program. Especially since these phones can be financed through the all the major carriers with no credit check. Of course that if you already have service with them. Bill me later only performs a soft inquiry and you can finance items over a time period.

The difference is that the major carrier already pulled a credit check for you when you established service. So with a clean history of payment there is no need to run it again (unless things have changes). A soft pull would have been awesome. Just saying it's not surprising since it's essentially a lease.

Where is my proof that these are HP's? I know credit reports very well. I am extremely familiar with the difference between a SP and a HP. What mjfriend is showing is absolutely a HP - no question about it. If you are asking how I know about the new account and average age of account dinging credit scores, that is true anytime a new account is added. FICO looks at any account that is under roughly two years of age as a "new" account. And having a new account brings down the average age of all accounts a bit, however this can vary depending on what a persons AAoA account is, how many trade-lines and such.

In regard to the earlier comment about hard pulls not showing up that fast, they actually do. They show up instantly. Depending on the credit monitoring service that a person has, it is not at all uncommon to get a notification within hours that the HP has shown up on the credit report.

The screenshot shows nothing regarding it being a hard or soft pull. Stop using circumstantial evidence as proof. Back it up.

So the next thing we will have to wait on is if Citizens Bank will report this to Credit Bureaus each month. I am sure some will want it to since it could help out their credit rating but for me it will hurt. It will bring down my AAoA as EW800 already defined earlier.

I have pretty bad credit with some old bad activity (nothing recent). 587. My appointment is at 1pm CST. I'll report back what happens. My *hope* is that they will let me still purchase the phone cash even if I'm declined credit and I don't have to order the phone online and wait (wanted the upgraded camera for vacation). Really curious of the experience of someone who was denied, if they were still offered to purchase full retail. Please report back, there is no SHAME *ding ding, ding ding*.

I'm also on a business account, my boss is supposed to meet me there to make sure activation goes smoothly.

Warbrain, I am not interested in arguing this with you. As more and more reports of this come through, you will see that these are HP's. I do know what I am talking about, with many years of experience in this area, and it appears that mjfriend knows what he/she is speaking of as well.

It is sad that Citizens is doing HP's. It is absolutely their choice as to how they want to "code" the inquiry, whether HP or SP for this program.

I'm not sure if you're just really hoping for soft pulls, but there's enough evidence floating around here, as well as enough common sense to know that when you're applying for financing of any kind that you can expect a hard pull.

It will continue to be confirmed throughout the day and next couple weeks. Might as well get on the hard pull train.

Do you work for the company that provides soft pulls and have a bonus you are hoping for?

Most credit cards do hard pulls. Why is it so hard to believe that the credit card company Apple is using would do a hard pull?

Harder to believe that they didn't. So you prove they are doing soft pulls instead demanding others prove.

Just curious if you ever seen a credit report before. Most credit reports do not show soft credit inquiries. If they do they will not be with the hard inquiries. They will have their own section.

I agree. If they report monthly, this could really be a shot in the arm for people that are approved and perhaps have poor credit or just starting to build credit. The positive trade line history will help a lot! I am right there with you in regard the the AAoA. My AAoA is about 12 years, and trying hard not to let anything bring it down. This program will bring AAoA down.

What happens if you have a grandfathered unlimited plan on ATT. The plans offered on the upgrade page seem to be only Next plans.

I'm guessing that I'll be forced to pay full price.
