Few questions. I called this morning and the rep sounded like it was the first time he had heard about the program.

  1. Do you have to trade in your current iPhone? He said yes...I found that hard to believe.
  2. Will being on iOS 9.1 beta 2 have any issue with restoring from a back up to the new phone? I should probably bump down to iOS 9.0 again...
1. I do not believe that's the case. Almost positive.

2. You'll likely have issues, I would get the phone, let them activate it, then update it to the beta, then restore.

Didn't think of that. Now I've given up the phone. Legally they have to send you a letter stating why, right? So frustrated. And the manager of our store was a complete jerk about it. Acted like I must not truly know my credit score, and how I was declined. Plain and simple.

I asked if he thought it was weird that every single person was being declined. He said no. Not weird at all. Jerk.
I'd complain to Apple Corporate. Try again with the store as they hold the reserved phones for 24 hours.

Got denied trying to use a business account. Their reasoning made no sense to me. Basically said they can't activate a business phone without the business account info. I told them to call verizon to active and they wouldn't.

Anyone else have success getting them to activate using a business accoint?

Can I get an answer as to whether or not they will let you purchase the phone through AT&T Next if you get declined for the upgrade program?

Are you the business account owner for the business account?

I'm hoping to be able to do the Apple Upgrade Program and I'm on a business account. Verizon says I'm aloud to make purchases, but not sure if Apple will let me. I have the login information for the business account, so I'm hoping that will work for me.

I believe so, yes Ive seen a few post about people getting declined for the upgrade program and then going through the Next, Edge, or Jump

It is a system error on the leasing bank's end. It is all over Reddit now and another thread on this site. Apple and Citizen are working to fix the problem. Unfortunately, it wasted a lot of people's time and resulted in a credit pull.

Is it fixed now? I'm in line and will be pissed if I'm declined because of a system error.

I am not the business account owner, but I have limited access to the account. Apple asked me for the billing zip code and social security number for the business owner. I told them I had the login info for the account but still denied me. What I find odd is I can purchase the phone in full and activate it on my own but they would not let me do the same for the upgrade program. All they had to do was call Verizon to make the upgrade plan successful.

Saw a similar report on reddit. It is a bummer

If indeed it is a hard pull, I'm glad I decided not to use the IUP. Not worried about my credit score, just don't want too many hard pulls in a single year.

Ok you can go ahead and try but I know the difference between a soft and a hard inquiry. This is 100% a hard inquiry. This service I subscribe through is through USAA and it does not show my softs. I do know of certain backdoor methods to see my softs and I may or may not used to participate in methods to increase my soft inquiries in order to bump off my hard inquires. I am not sure why you think it takes a day for it to show up but it does not. Sometimes you may get a delay in notification from you credit monitoring services but if you actually check your credit then it will show up.
I don't trust USAA. USAA is 100 points lower on my Fico than Discover, Capital One and American Express.

I'm going to try to use a bank card with CC logo. If that doesn't work I do have other cards, but some I only have on my phone and watch through Apple Pay.

I don't know if it's been fixed yet. Sorry. Hope it works for you!

I guess we'll know if everyone started getting declined all at once!

It actually looks like they haven't started selling phones to anyone yet at my store, despite them saying they'll be open at 8. So maybe they delayed because of these issues.

I got declined on the first attempt because I tried to use a business credit card. I think it had to do with my address on the business credit card is not the same address as my residential address. My FICO score is very good (790), so I was surprised it was declined. I figure it had to do with fraud check or something, although the decline is a generic message with no detail.

I had them run it again with my personal credit card using my personal address and it went through perfect.

Interesting...not opening your phone...They didn't make you activate before leaving? I'm asking this because I'm on T-mobile Postpaid and i really don't need to check in with t mobile to "activate" my phone i switch sims all the time.
Mine was activated without replacing the sim in the new phone. I'm with Verizon.

When I called Verizon Business Support a couple of days ago they told me the "ssn" for the business account is the last four digits of the tax id number. I would have to ask for that information since I don't have that. Maybe it'll work. Agreed it seems odd that they will allow you to activate with a paid in full purchase, but not through the upgrade program. My appointment isn't until 7:00 PM eastern time, so I'm hoping some of the issues with the program are ironed out. Verizon business said they should have more information about the program today and maybe they can help me and others. Thanks for your response.
