Oh and they do activate the phone in the box, no switching SIMs. I noticed on mine it said upgrade fee $0.00 so I hope it's that way for everyone. I'm on a Verizon UDP and was given the option to keep the plan, which of course I did.

I'm also currently on contract so I can confirm this plan works no matter what your status is at the carrier in regards to upgrades. Given that this lets me bypass Verizon's systems entirely, and how smoothly today went, I'm going to stick with the AUP going forward.

Same here. I'm up to 640-650 and continuing to work hard to get to 700 land.

I'm curious if mid 600's are approved. I was approved for AT&T Next but I think since I've been a customer for over 15 years that the credit score may not count as much.

My 661 was approved this morning without any issue at all.

It is a hard pull. I was approved with a 780 fico.

That's good news about keeping the Verizon UDP. Obviously you should be able to keep it with the iPhone Upgrade Program, but it's good to get confirmation.

I unfortunately am on a business account, so I'm going to have to fight that battle. I might be able to activate on my wife's account and switch it over.

Anybody do this with a Grandfathered AT&T UDP and have the same ?

Alright, I got declined with a 653 score(just got done with a wedding lol). I did confirm though that you have to use a credit card, not a bank issued Visa branded debit card that can be run as credit. I ended up buying it outright. Don't know about hard vs soft pulls though.

I just double checked my Verizon account, nothing's changed except my new phone is showing as my primary device and my previous 6 Plus is no longer listed on the account. All my lines still show unlimited data and my upgrade date for my primary line hasn't changed. I think it's safe to say that the AUP really does entirely sidestep the carrier's upgrade system.

Haven't read the entire thread but I was a little miffed that I wasn't able to use this program because the address on my driver's license is out of date. Pretty silly as I haven't had that up to date for over 10 years and I've never had a problem with credit anywhere else.

Experience was pretty good. The first month's payment and taxes are due at purchase via a credit card. Discover tried to take it as cash advance. Barclay did it regularly. It was simple.

Mine was activated without replacing the sim in the new phone. I'm with Verizon.

Same here, but with AT&T. No SIM swap, and they say the new IMEI will transmit to AT&T automatically. I didn't even break the seal on the plastic wrap until I got home.

Hey Guys,
Two quick questions.

1. I have a reservation for 8PM tonight (wanted to wait for the wife to get home so we could go together). I want to try going earlier this afternoon. Think it will be a problem?

2. My brother has been all about the upgrade program but just today said that maybe he wants to just buy the phone for full price :). He reserved online. Is he able to just pay full retail if he chooses?

Thanks in advance!!

Yeah I didn't have to switch my sims either. Im wondering if this has a universal sim in it or a regular one.

Print a utility bill with your current address on it.

Why did anyone think it wasn't going to be a hard credit pull? Come on they are issuing you a line of credit. They do the same exact thing for a credit card. I'm for one am not surprised at all.

Mine went off without a hitch. My FICO is 770 and according to Credit Karma, 744 with TransUnion and 728 with Equifax. I used a major credit card in my own name, and activated it on Verizon, but am not the account owner (still on a plan with my parents because cheap, and my husband cannot alter his AT&T plan without losing the grandfathered unlimited data). I needed the Verizon account owner's last 4 digits of SSN, the billing zip, and their PIN they use when calling to speak with a rep (usually 4 or so digits as well).

Husband wasn't so lucky. I believe he fell prey to the Citizens system issue, as his credit score is slightly better than mine, credit history is comparable, etc. I'm trying to stay updated on this, so if they roll out a fix today, he can return to the store and still get his reserved phone.

Oh, and if further proof is needed that it's a hard inquiry:

1.) My wife's reservation was at 8a and mine was 11a. They let me buy at the same time as her without issue.

2.) Yes, they just ask how you want to pay.

Because the cell carriers do a soft pull for their upgrade plans. Because a soft pull is enough.

Yeah, I did AUP. My reservation stated pay in full because I had trouble figuring out how to select the AUP in the madness on the 12th, but I called into Apple later that day and they said it wouldn't be a problem to change the payment method.

My credit score is 775 and got declined. Think it was an issue with the system like people have said. Ended up financing the phone through T-Mobile... should I return the phone and have them try again?
