If you can wait, people should wait until December or January when Apple releases the true unlocked world phone that's sim free. Get that with the upgrade program or buy it full price. If you travel the world like I do then that is the best option.

Verizon is having a problem with the phones working internationally. Maybe it will be fixed with the 6S. But the real world iPhone 6S won't be released until December or January.

Yes, but that band is in limited rollout right now, and the Verizon model has better resale potential since it can be sold to both GSM and Verizon customers.
So can a AT&T 6. I can activate it with Verizon if I want. An that band may be limited now but in a year when people sell the 6S, it could be working fine.

Does Apple Upgrade program using third party loan/bank charge interest ? Has that been calculated into the amount we pay each month if so ?

But in your scenario....you are paying twice for that line on AT&T. Once for the 2 year contract ($40?)....then another fee from Apple for the new iPhone 6s. the amount varies depending on which iphone and what size you get but roughly another $40.

I'd be paying AT&T for the service, and Apple for the phone itself. I own my current phone - it is NOT leased, so I'll be selling it.

I'll get the Verizon then. I'll borrow my sisters SIM card to show I have Verizon. I'm just worried the Verizon 6s is locked internationally. The one I had was and I replaced it at apple and sold it. Buyer emailed me a week later saying it was locked in Japan.

When you make your reservation online it might not necessarily be for september 25th. For example is you r apple store has been alotted 500 iphones for release day and you are the 600th person to do a reservation at that store your reservation would probably be for the date of their next shipment I think that is what was meant when they said when you make your reservation it will tell you what date the reservation is far. Every reservation made will not be for the 25th but when you make the reservation you will know then if it is for a date after release place so you could probably cancel and get the phone another way if you wanted it on release day.

T-Mobile seems like the way to go for me. Buy the phone outright and get on their $30 plan. Done. And if I get to a point to where I want to go to Verizon, LTE will be even more widespread at that point, negating the need for EV-DO bands. I'm in NYC anyway, so none of this is a big deal.

Also with T-Mobile the hassle won't be as large if choosing to travel abroad.

Am I the only one who gets absolutely horrible service on Verizon with an iPhone 6? I'm going back to AT&T.

Hoping someone with experience or knowledge about switching carriers at upgrade / new release time can provide some insight for me.

My current situation is I'm on AT&T family plan and we are trying to transition over to Verizon. My AT&T contract ends 9/20/15. I'd like to port my number over to keep the same one. How would I be able to pre-order (or even make a reservation for the upgrade program) where the carrier info is concerned? Thoughts?

For those of you who had an idea of buying the entire phone outright to own it (including myself):

A big thing that NOBODY here has mentioned that should be pointed out is supply vs. demand.

Let's say you go ahead and just pay full price for your iPhone. Well... as time goes by there are going to be less amounts of people buying used iPhones because they will be signing up for these monthly plans. People won't want to pay $200-$300 for a used two year old iPhone. I think the value of the older iPhones is going to drop very quickly which is kind of brillant on Apple's part.

In the past I've been happy just getting a new iPhone every two years and selling my old one for the same price I paid for it. Not going to happen anymore.

man, great point. I have been selling my old phones on eBay since day one to pay for the upgrade. I might be safer on Apple's system come next fall.

So you could make the appt on 9/12...show up on the 25th for your appt only to have apple tell you the phone is sold out? Doesn't sound right.

I think the APPTs are starting this weekend. So when you go in, they will check inventory levels online and let you know how soon it will ship. All depends on how popular the model is you want.

The safest way of assuring a Day 1 phone is preordering when it becomes avaliable, methinks

This is going to turn out like the applewathc. You will make a reservation to do the upgrade plan, get to the store, and they direct you to buy the phone online, and it is sold out.

"You can make a reservation online, starting at 12:01 a.m. PDT on September 12, to buy in store. We’ll help you get set up with the iPhone Upgrade Program."

If you've ever made an iPhone in-store reservation in the past, they actually have you indicate what model/color/size you're goign to purchase in advance. So that they have it in stock for you.

There have never been supply constraints like those of the Apple Watch when it comes to iPhone.

It depends on how you consider AppleCare+. If you were already planning on buying AppleCare+ ($129), then it's 0% interest loan for 24 months. If you had absolutely no intention of getting AppleCare+ and consider that portion as "interest", then it's 7-10% per year.

Ok I just wanna pay the $399 and sign a two year contract, can I do that through Apple's website tomorrow, I don't want the installment plan.

I was just told by an Apple Specialist that with Apple's Upgrade program, one could pay off the phone after 6 months in the program and own it outright.

this is only available at the store correct?

That’s correct! You make the reservation online, however the process has to be completed in the Apple Retail Store.

gotcha

And that reservation process starts on the 12th.

what if I payy off the phone early?

That’s a really great question! Right now we don’t have information regarding paying off the phone early. What I recommend is checking back after the launch to see how that’s going to work.

Interesting. One hand doesn't seem to know what the other hand is doing. My info is very recent, however.
