Wow already on the west coast and didn't go to the hub in memphis!

My experience with fedex is that they always went to memphis before rerouting to sub hubs. I'm excited that it has come close to my hometown Cupertino, CA

Arrived at FedEx location

In fact, I think this is smart on their part, to not hold back the delivery date, and get the pre-orders in hand and activated before the in store reservations and sales...

I'm sure it's a way to avoid mass server loads on the 24th.

Smart!

No. If anything it might be some automated Apple Store thing that is ignorant of the iPhone's special release date.

It would make sense to have essentially a 2-tier launch to not kill the activation servers (as quickly).

What a pleasant surprise by Apple!

Just to clarify for those with questions:

A.) When I ordered it I was told it would deliver by the 24th

B.) My FedEx tracking says 24th by 4:30PM

C.) I received this email which states the 23rd :D

D.) I pre-ordered at around 6PM Central

Did anyone get an email saying it will ship the 23rd when the original email for confirmation said the 24th? Me and my wife got the pre-orders in literally in minutes of each other and the tracking location is exactly the same, but hers says the 24th while mine says the 23rd. Very weird. Anyone in the same situation? Anyways good news! At least got one email....

I got the same thing. Ordered at 6am launch day.

3 of the iPhones I ordered between 4-5PM (PST) are in Oakland right now (I live in SF)

sucks how I traded my thursday shift with a wednesday shift so I could spend all the day with the iPhone =[

I just got this email as well! Sucks I won't be there to receive delivery. Damn being out of town!!! Although I have someone that will accept the delivery and hold it for me until the night of the 24th. :(

I am happy for everyone who did get the e-mail but there are going to be A LOT of unhappy people.

Whatever the saying is, people will think they shouldn't just let SOME people get it earlier than others.

Tons of people got the same email last year with the 3GS only to have it held at the fedex location until the release date. I know this because I have a friend who works for fedex and he told me they got tons of angry calls and people stopping in looking for their package. But they have specific instructions from Apple to not deliver before the store release date..... He said this is common and they do it all the time for big companies. I do however remember him telling me that a few slipped through the cracks and were sent out for delivery.

Just noticed that I got the letter too. :D

I highly doubt Apple would send out a letter with the specific wording that was used, unless they planned on following through. With the amount of activations that are going to take place, this would help distribute the load.

Hopefully FedEx got the memo too! :p

I just received the email too. I ordered at 4:55 PDT on the 15th. My receipt and FedEx both said delivery on the 24th by 4:30.

I am/will be one! Haha. But at least im a nice unhappy person. :)

Well if Apple wants to piss more people off this is a sure way to do it, promise the 23rd only to have it actually be the 24th.

Would be funny.

Woohoo! Got the e-mail as well. I assumed I wouldn't since I wasn't able to get my order in until around 9PM central time, but I got it as well. I work from home so that part isn't a problem, but it is exciting to get it early for sure:D

Just got the email too. Mine has always said 24th though. Maybe apple made a typo. Ugh my friend was gonna be home Wednesday. I guess I'll pick it up at the hub later that day on the 23rd

Just got mine as well. My original ship date was the 24th. This does look like a preemptive measure against the chaos that will occur on in store activations the 24th. Split the amount of activating between 2 days...23rd for those that pre ordered with delivery, and in store activations on the 24th. That way maybe the lines will move faster in store if there are less people activating around the country.

Read the email again...

"This email is to confirm that your delivery will occur on June 23rd. Although Apple and FedEx tracking information may currently indicate a later date, you can check the FedEx website the morning of the June 23rd to track your package to your doorstep."

The whole purpose of the email is to inform you that you will get the iPhone on the 23rd despite what your "current" tracking information says.

Just got the same email. Odd, because even fedex says 24th is my estimated delivery date. Would be an incredibly nice surprise if true though!
