i also got that email. It looks like apple wants to split activation between two days. Makes sense seeing as they got 600k preorders.

me thinks this is apple's nice gesture for the preorder mess

I'm one of the ones that got this, but I'm assuming its an automated email that's simply using the date in their system. And the date in the system for many of us has always been the 23rd, but we also know Apple tells Fedex to hold it until the 24th. I have a feeling this is an unfortunate mistake that Apple will apologize for soon.

Just got the email! And FedEx tracking is showing the package is at the Memphis hub, so it's entirely possible. Heck, they could get it here tomorrow if they tried.

Mine is still on its way, left Alaska this afternoon. Probably get there some time tonight. It's always been a little bit behind everyone else's for some reason.

damn, should have ordered for delivery instead of in store pickup...my plans of getting it MUCH earlier than my fedex guy would come are FOILED! damn you apple

I got the same email. Here it is again just to show everyone how legit this is.

I pre-ordered that afternoon and at one point something (I think Apple) showed the 23rd but I ignored it and eventually I got the FedEx thing which now still says the 24th at 4:30pm but this is awesome.

The email is pretty insistent that you ignore other stated dates. Makes me hopeful.

I just got the email too and I also tracked my package and it's in Oakland, CA which is very close to me :) I'm in the bay area.

Hmm, I live just outside San Francisco and my tracking still shows my package as "In Transit" from Alaska. I don't understand how my phone could be on a different flight?

For the record, I still don't believe these emails people are getting. They sound very "unofficial" and un-Apple like. The emails have no Apple logo in the header or anything. I don't doubt they may be from Apple, but perhaps somebody is toying with us... Only time will tell...

I am sure FedEx and Apple keep in touch. Would be easy to say start going to people's homes on the 23rd...etc....

I changed my Apple email the day after I ordered the phone because it was an old one. Maybe it messed things up? But likely not since I got an email from Apple to both my addresses confirming the change. Whaaaaatever.
