Can't wait to see the horrible burn-in from demo units that are on full blast 24x7.

Will be quite the marketing tool... ..

I'm sure the stores will rotate them out every few days in an effort to snow in customers, making them not realize OLED burn-in is a very real thing. Especially on a $1k+ telephone they will keep for like 4 years..
Apple hasnt specified if they have developed a way to minimize burn in have they? Almost forgot about the burn in myself haha

Here the app switching mechanism looks different from the Keynote demo. In the Keynote demo, Craig simply swiped horizontally across the bottom of the screen. Why is it different here? I like the Keynote demo swiping much better.

It's the same feature, the guy is just using this gesture to match the behavior of the apps while switching. When he posted it on Reddit someone asked him and that's what he said. You can swipe any way you want while switching apps.

People working with the Xcode simulator say that this mechanism from the Keynote is still possible. Maybe they have implemented it in a "forgiving" way so that more interactions are ok?

They said that burn in was one of the main draw backs of OLED. So they for sure have implemented a way to minimize it.

I really don't think Apple will pay Samsung a high premium for them to deliver screens that easily burn in. I assume that they will have implemented some kind of technology, since they mentioned burn ins as one of the main reasons why they waited at the keynote.

Judging from previous preorders...will there be a limit on how many of these beauties can be preordered? Maybe 2 per person? o_O

Lots of wasted space at the top. Content needs to be pushed up there (out of the thumb’s reach) with ALL controls lower and within the thumb’s reach.

This comment and the subsequent advert for pixel 2 made me laugh! Google is reading our messages and targeting ads specifically

This is why I was laughing when people were whining about the awful 3D-touch-the-left-edge gesture finally being removed.
That gesture is so finicky and it interferes with any app that lets you 3D touch something near the left edge of your phone, such as the thumbnail of a post.

This gesture however is perfect and I immediately fell in love with it when Craig demonstrated it on stage!

But it’s back again with 11.1. I like it though.

This looks painful, just tried doing that on my 6S and it seems fiddly and annoying. Hmm these gestures seem tricky to me, the phone is not intuitive to use like the current design.
I think the way Craig did it in the Presentation is more intuitive. And let's be real for a second: When the iPhone was annouced there weren't a lot of people who thought that the homebutton was intuitive.
And what would the other option be? Render a virtual homebutton just for the sake of having one? Seems not very smart either, as we just got rid of the physical one.
Swipping up seems very intuitive to me for closing apps and entering the multistasking view. And the way Craig showed of the feature of quickly switching between apps looks a lot less painful than this.

I wish there was a plus version of this.

It will come next year or in 2019, so a lot of customers will have a good reason to upgrade.
I'm happy with my 8+, same speed, has a dual camera with the same portrait effects and the aspect ratio of the screen is much better.
X is tall, but I want more width so I'll switch to the new design when they'll make a Plus version of it
