How could it not be done deliberately? These things are custom manufactured to ridiculously small tolerances. Fractions of a mm. They knew what they were doing.

There are people in this thread that believe that Apple deliberately made the camera bump larger and/or rearranged magnets in order to make customers buy new cases.

I wonder why they didn’t use that same strategy on the watch? Just think of all the money they would have made if everyone had to buy new bands!

Conspiracy theories aside, perhaps it would be a good idea to wait until you get the phone in hand. A look back through the thread to see that others have posted that the X cases have the same very slight gap would be a good idea as well.

Never used a case.
I pay over 1000$ for design I don't want to hide.

"I just spent a grand on the new iPhone, but I'm saving loads by reusing the same $50 case!"
—Nobody Ever

One of the most idiotic and ignorant posts I've seen for a long time on these forums.
Please enlighten me, what sense does it make to make fun of people who want to reuse their case? Who want to reuse things in general? Who maybe have a problem with all the use-and-throw products in our world? And with companies that rub their pretended eco-friendliness in while producing things that get obsolete after 10 months of use? Your condescensing, completely braindead statement disgusts me in more ways you could imagine.

Hello Tim, how you doing? ;)

That's it exactly. Why stop now? You just bought a $1000+ phone, whether outright or on contract. Is this really the place to cut the budget?

Apple has been a chronic sufferer of revenue deficiency syndrome. Together we can find a cure.

I was immediately impelled to reply with a snarky comment to what I believe is an extremely disproportionate response, but the more I've thought about it, the more I realize how backwards this is. I think you'll agree.

Let's say somebody bought an iPX and now wants to upgrade to an iPXs and keep their case. They're free to do that; as this article explains, the fit is only "slightly imperfect." The people I'm making fun of are those that would sink two grand into two phones and then complain because they have to pay another $50 for a perfect fit.

The butt of my joke the kind of person who's complaining about a first world problem—a case that works fine but is slightly askew near the camera.

Your condescensing, completely braindead statement disgusts me in more ways you could imagine.
Agreed; I'm having trouble imagining even one way you're disgusted enough to post such an overreaction. :p

Here is my old V new black leather Apple case on the XS. It’s a bit smushed on the old case. I’d live with it, but the new case just FEELS so much nicer and newer without a years wear and tear so I’m keeping for that reason.

That wouldn’t bother me. But, I don’t like the Apple iPhone cases because they leave the bottom edge of the phone exposed. I prefer to have a case where, if I dropped the phone, all edges are protected.

The Incipio DualPro case (I have the DualPro Pure) should not be an issue with the iPhone XS. This is because the cutout for the camera "bump" is not tightly fitted around it.
