iPhone X Cases May Have Slightly Imperfect Fit on iPhone XS Due to New Camera Bump Dimensions

Again, Speck's cases have a larger camera opening than Apple's. Apple's are near form-fitted which is why this is an issue, hence Apple has discontinued the X cases in favor of the Xs cases; the X does not fit the Xs, whereas the Xs will fit both.

I didn't think this was that hard of a concept. I mean yeah, going forward X users won't have quite the fit that we're all used to around the camera bump but at the same time, how much time do you spend staring at the back of your phone?

I think more the X case was not good design. The Apple X case did not fit that well. I thought was just my case but after seeing lots of pictures it looks like mine. Tight on left side and gap on right side. Just would expect to use the same case with form factor. Would not care if needed new care or wanted change. Just would rather spend $50 on something else.

Mine fit fine, but then again I only buy the silicone ones. I have no desire to wrap my phone in a dead animal.

I have the leather Apple case for the iPhone X. Its very sleek, minimal, and offers quality edge to edge protection even with a screen-down drop. I love how it patinas with use and turns darker with the oils from my hands and scratches from nails.
 
You know, Jony Ive did this on purpose to generate more sales. It’s all part of the plan for Tim Cook and company.

Wish the forest green came in silicone too. It’s such a nice case, just not a fan of the leather.

There is a topic about every aspect of the phone, even about not 100% matching cases, on the other side, the lineup of macs is in flames.

It is like a newspaper reporting about the fur color of a cat, that was saved by firefighters from a tree while ignoring, that the whole old town district went on fire two days ago...

What about that “October Mac event“? Will it now be in December? Will Apple stop building macs at all? Will the company become consumer hostile? Or should You rethink the buyers guide and tell people, that they should buy everything now because these computers won’t be around any longer? Has Apple pulled out all engineers from the MacOS team?

There are so many elephants in the room but macrumors seems not to care about any of them...

I really like the leather. I wish it were closed on the bottom, but whatever. It has nice little touches like the matching chamfered aluminum buttons. I had an early version on my iPhone 6 Plus and then stopped using it for a few years but got the Cosmos Blue for my iPhone X and the quality of both the feel and the patina seems to be improved. If you haven't checked it out in a long time it's worth another look. I tried it in the store before buying again because I wasn't much of a fan of the one I had on my 6 Plus.

I think the way this article is phrased is wrong... I think an iPhone X will have an imperfect fit in a iPhone XS case HOWEVER a iPhone XS may not even be able to FIT into a iPhone X case because of the changes.

The camera bump has moved and is LARGER in the iPhone XS so a tightly well made case for the iPhone X will likely not fit properly around the camera bump and may cover part of the bump and not even sit flush.

Hundreds of professional reviews of the Xs online and not a single mention of Apple iPhone X Case compatibility. SMH.

Can’t recall if it was the 6+ to 7+ or which one it was but there was a very slight change in size causing Apple and case manufacturers to not recommend using the older case. I had a Lifeproof and it fit the new phone just fine. Just a little tighter to close it up. I wasn’t gonna pay another $70+ on a case with a .5 mm larger housing. That’s just stupid.

The iPhone X cases might not fit the Xs properly, but the Xs cases should fit the X just fine, with just a slight gap around the bump.
