I've got 4 total. Plan to sell them all. Maybe I'll keep one. I picked up two today at the store where I live. About 30 people in line ahead of me when I arrived at 7:45. Everyone got a phone it seems. Or more than one. I also have two being delivered on Nov 17 or so.

Someone please tell me if there is an accessibility option to turn off swipe to go to home screen. I’m very doubtful but I want to see it confirmed!

Wake > look > home screen :)

Yeah, this seems incredibly counter-intuitive. They get rid of Touch ID so you don't actually need your thumb to unlock your phone - yet, you still need it to actually get to the home screen after unlocking.

Also...am I the only one who would love an even smaller foot print? While I know this has about the foot print of the 8, I still think the bigger screen will just be too big for my hands. Yes, I do prefer using my phone with one hand as much as possible. It's a phone, not a tablet. Never got the craziness over the Plus versions...

Really like the form factor but it's a LOT smaller than I imagined and seems to be the same size as my 6s.

I hate scalpers like you.

Things get pretty complicated without your "Home button"

It may be a new iPhone, but its also new learning curve for how things we were always used to..

So, once again Apple disrupts the order of universe

Rolling your face around at start up for setting up FaceID and the cool "sniper" type detection is awesome. :D One thing I would add would be a cross-hair so users can line their face up...

Nope there is no setting like that. I looked , this would be good in the future for sure
No it won’t. Touch ID gets a pass for this setting because your thumb needs to actually rest on home button to get to the home screen.
People will flip out if they find that they can’t check the time, notifications, or just take their camera out without completely opening up their phones.

I don't like the fact there isn't a display zoom on the X, at least from what I can tell....

Really? on my 6s it's located in settings>Display & Brightness then it's under View. I like this feature. It's not the same for the X?

It’s actually annoyingly tricky to just point at someone else’s face and have it open. My wife has tried quite a few times, each time ended requiring a passcode.
Thanks for that. That is positive. Im quite worried about that potential here. Since a person only has 1 face but 10 fingers

Theirs nothing counter intuitive about it at all. They didn't make Face ID so that people don't have to use their thumb to unlock the phone, that would be stupid since every gesture requires touching the phone with your thumb. They got rid of Touch ID, because its less secure, and it takes up huge amount of space that is now used for more screen. The goal is to have a bigger screen with a smaller phone, which makes it a lot easier to reach different areas of the screen.

The reason why the Plus model of the iPhone was so popular was, because of the bigger screen and bigger battery. Clearly you don't like the large size of the plus model, because you cant reach all areas of the screen. What I don't get, is why your complaining when apple is making huge changes to solve that problem and yet your still unhappy.

I miss the battery percentage on top right of the display :(

Once your phones battery icon turns red, just pull down the control centre and you can see it there. Hopefully they will come up with some way to add it back though. I mean, there is enough room on top of the battery icon to add the % there.

People will flip out if there’s an option added to do this? For those who’d like it to work that way?

Many lives have been fully realized today.

And do many more have been crushed the past 2 days. For too much good news regarding Apple.

It only works that way *for them* because they got use to it... There will be a percentage who can

Any new thing will instantly be praised as 'good' to most users, until the month of solitude sets in and long time using will start to cringe of the older models which have the convince of a physical button, if they can't get used to it 100% of the time

Too bad. If you're sporting a watch, like me, using the phone for that purpose is completely unnecessary.

I'm confused with this post. I can see time etc. from the lock screen. What do you mean?

Did he have to repeat the gestures at 1:30 and 4:50? In other words, did his first attempt at the gesture fail?

Why is the keyboard so high up when typing. It’s like more than half the screen is wasted at the bottom. If the keyboard would slide down a could few centimeters, the larger screen would be more useful. Is it a setting?
Because in one-handed-use, that’s where your thumb points to. Any lower would be uncomfortable.

What are you going to do with the phone unlocked that doesn’t require touching? The swipe up puts your finger over the screen and ready to hit your next target. The original swipe to unlock moved your finger off the screen, so this is more fluid.

“Hey Siri” lets you to unlock it, and operate it hands free.

I’m not sure what the problem is...

Tap on the screen while locked for any of those.

The iPhone X is here! Apple Stores around the world opened up at 8:00 a.m. local time on November 3 and deliveries kicked off around the same time, getting the iPhone X into the hands of millions of customers today.

We got our hands on an iPhone X this morning and spent the day testing it out to get acquainted with all of the new features. Check out the video below to see a walkthrough of the unboxing process and Face ID setup.

Our video also covers the new Studio Lighting feature available on the iPhone X, plus it goes through all of the new gestures you're going to need to learn to navigate through the iOS 11 operating system. Without a Home button, there's a whole new workflow to learn that can take a couple of days to get used to. Once you've got it down, though, it seems to be a more intuitive navigation experience.

Face ID takes under 30 seconds to set up, so getting the iPhone X up, running, and ready to recognize your face is incredibly fast. Face ID also seems to work quite reliably, and the new Animoji feature that comes alongside Face ID is fun to use.

We're going to be taking a much closer look at the iPhone X and going over every new feature in detail both on MacRumors.com and on YouTube, so stay tuned and make sure to follow our YouTube channel if you don't already.

What is the name of the lamp you have hanging on the wall behind you :)

Can someone who has purchased iPhone X confirm and share which one will hold up well, Silver or Space Gray band? I really don’t want to put up a case, and might choose a colour more likely to hold up the day to day wear and tear down to a minimal. Thanks! (The Verge guy said he got scratches and dings on Silver in just few days and that's got me worried)

I'm watching few drop tests and teardown, and Silver shows micro abrasions? Or am I crazy? I'd really appreciate any input.

I guess I need to head to the Apple store as I just cant decide between a finger print magnet Space Gray, or abrasions on Silver that'd drive me mad.

Took me no time at all to get used to the new gestures. Perfectly natural. Goodbye home button.

One shortcut I just discovered myself to close apps: after swiping half way up, and then holding down to make the red minus sign appear, you can then swipe up to close apps.

:)

As someone who uses my iPhone both with and without glasses, I’m curious whether Face ID will work either way. Also, is there a way to quickly bypass Face ID and get to the passcode screen? I know there will be times when my spouse (who knows my passcode) would need to use my phone, and it would be a hassle if I had to unlock it with Face ID first.

I set up mine this morning without glasses and afrocious hair. I then got a haircut later in the day. FaceID works flawlessly with and without glasses, with hat and haircut.

It was so disheartening trying this phone yesterday to realise it’s just too unwieldy to hold for me.

I still hold out hope for an SE size version. Maybe next year.

My guess is there will be a plus size, not a smaller one.

Only hope for SE is to stay the same with updated internals focusing on the low end of Apple’s fan base—those who are willing to live with fewer features but want to stay with iOS. A number of my colleagues all say they like the form factor of my SE, yet all of them have bigger phones. My point is — people with money that go for small phones is a very small part of the market.
