got screwed by apples website on launch day. Didn't open for 15 mins and my delivery is now in December. Order went in 20mins after official opening time. Annoying thing is if I ordered today i would get it quicker. People ordered the same phone as me after me are already getting deliveries. If I don't get better news by Monday on my delivery prediction im cancelling my order. Sick of Apple at this point.
Sorry to hear that. You really need to look at your options vs your initial negative emotions. getting upset will not bring about a positive change - and you're getting upset at an in-animate object you have yet to own. Place an order with your local store for pickup. cancel the one Apple has online. no harm no foul and you'll have your iPhone X in hand! The bonus is you'll confirm successful activation and quality of the device in your hand and working.
FaceID guy reminds me of Happy Mac.
Definitely intentional and reminiscent ... I love it.
I order phones for my work and got 6 ATT model iPhone X's today. Pulled one out meant for our QA team for testing and I must say I'm not a fan. I come from the plus line of phones and I wasn't impressed by the device. Here are the reasons why...
Harder to hold because of bezel less design.
When using the keyboard it felt small and what is with the massive space under it? Drove me nuts.
Usable screen is smaller then Plus models.
Some of the gestures felt janky and didn't work a few times while trying them.
The lack of home button has made usability more complicated. Things that used to take a single step now take 2-3. For example closing a hanging app takes 3 steps instead of 2 now. Reachability, which I used, takes a weird gesture to trigger.
Using Apple pay has to be intentionally triggered via the power button.
Many apps not optimized for this display yet. Big black top and bottom borders if they are not. Look like standard iPhone app sizes.
There are a few other things here and there but at least there's the iPhone 8 plus if I want an iPhone. This is a gen 1 of a product redesign and I was expecting a few shortcomings. I'm still a bit surprised by how positive the reviews have been.
I cancelled my order on Verizon. I hope that pushed someone else up on the list. It was suppose to deliver by 11/15 but I'm no longer interested, I will wait for next one. Might get an 8 plus to replace my 6s Plus and keep using this pixel 2 XL in the meantime. Yes, I'm a 2 phone person.
God you're one of THOSE users I support at work. Always complaining unsatisfied EVEN if the solution works (not a work-around a true solution). You're complaining and you're NOT even one of the QA team since you stated it was for them.
Harder to hold because of bezel less design.
- Same curved hardware design as the 6/6S/7 and 8. Glass back allows for better grip than those supposedly from what I can tell from several reviews vs yours. Opinions are valid though.
When using the keyboard it felt small and what is with the massive space under it? Drove me nuts.
- um ... keyboard should be the same size of your iPhone 6S. Space under it is for accurate navigation of the home screen and application switching. This is set and advised by Apple to developers as part of WWDC2017 update videos.
Usable screen is smaller then Plus models.
- physical screensize yes. Display of content differs based on application chosen. You needed days to review before coming forth with this opinon, but yours matters. Macrumors did show content viewable with Safari several days back.
Some of the gestures felt janky and didn't work a few times while trying them.
- janky? could be based on touch sensitivity or recognition. I say this as over time my fingers arent recognized on touch screens as accurately as before (worn ridges in my fingers). It's possible familiarity in the gestures or your preference for the Pixel/Google Android.
The lack of home button has made usability more complicated. Things that used to take a single step now take 2-3. For example closing a hanging app takes 3 steps instead of 2 now. Reachability, which I used, takes a weird gesture to trigger.
- So closing an application (iPhone 7: Double Tap Home Button, Select Application you wish to close (if not already in direct view), Swipe running application up. iPhone X: Swipe up & pause/swip up & right, select application you wish to close (if not already in direct view), press red close button. Seems like the same 3 steps for each yet iPhone X makes if a LOT more fluid and faster - I have a hunch much is the same on the Pixel you have so I don't understand why you're not seeing this.
Reachabilty I had been curious about and nobody has reviewed that yet so I'm VERY interested how this can be used.
Using Apple pay has to be intentionally triggered via the power button.
- Really? Seriously you're picking on this? It's the same with using an iPhone previously except you have to do 2 steps: Lock the phone, then double press home button. I'm sure it's faster on iPhone X. Heck you have to press the action button on Apple Watch for Apple pay. Seems you're just looking for things to complain about with this topic.
Many apps not optimized for this display yet. Big black top and bottom borders if they are not. Look like standard iPhone app sizes.
- same thing occured with iPhone 6 Plus too when it debuted. Give it some time before you make a final decision.
PS: Why is the QA team at your office reviewing first before the I.T. team? Do you have internally managed security protocols for intranet site, file servers, and email??
Either way ... consider The Pessimists mug ... you choose how you view things.
Cheers.
