My SG X is scratch free no matter how I look at it under bright light and it is in a case when being used.

I knew this coming in and selecting the SG. The silver frame will scratch even if you take care of it, put it in a case...heck it will scratch even if you’re just wiping to clean it!

Polishing it will possibly remove the scratches but good luck not getting polish inside the holes in the bottom. Besides, this is extra effort to keep my phone prestine, which I don’t want to go through...that’s why I picked the SG.

Silver pickers, you were warned but you chose to bear it.

Yes we did. And I’m happy with my choice.

Honestly, people who freak about minor scratches should put it in a case and never look at it.

I got the silver & this was the first time I'm using an apple case.

I don't have any scratches, but there are 2 small "spots" (scuffs possibly?) that I see if I hold it in the right light...I tried to wipe them away with my finger, but I think they are still there.....(didn't press to hard & now I don't see them, but I'm in a different light)

In a strange way, I feel a bit relived. I was so worried about having an open bottom, & trying to keep it as pristine as possible. But even though I take extra precaution (and will continue to take extra precaution) I also realize there's no way to keep it squeaky 100% blemish free & sparkly clean....

So now, I can relax (a little, lol).....

Some people are clearly encountering stainless steel for the first time. Scratches buff out, folks...

this is what i have observe when testing the iphone in the apple stores... in the silver i can see the micro scratches... with the space grey .... i cant see it.... but fingerprints are there of course more obvious in the space grey...

I been reading so many posts the last few days, and to be honest it’s crazy how the people with silver defend the phone and the space gray people just think they have a bullet proof phone.

Both will scratch, plain and simple.

I went with the silver simply because when it begins to wear or scratch I’d rather it stay the same color rather than see the steel color come through the coating on the space gray, or if it begins to wear exposing the silver underneath.
It’s not going to wear off from normal usage or at least the same as the SG AppleWatch. The silver will surely come through if it’s deeply scratched from a fall, but not from simply rubbing to clean it like on a silver one.

Has anyone the same issue? I got a lot of tiny scratches on my iPhone in the stainless steel frame

that's stainless steel for you. the good news is you can buy a creme polish that will take that right out, but stainless scratches like crazy, ask any apple watch sapphire user (with the stainless case).

I don't have the iPhone X, but I have the 8 plus.
I used to be hyper sensitive about scratches. Now I don't care. I don't even use a case. I have tiny scratches that are only really visible in the direct sunlight.
We use these things every day for hours, they are going to get tiny scratches on them. I've never had a problem selling mine and I get a new phone every year, especially now with all of the upgrade programs. You don't even have to worry about selling them back if you are in an upgrade program. So now I just live worry free and enjoy my device.

If it’s like the SS Apple Watch you could do a polish once a month (or two). It doesn’t take much to get back to “brand new” condition if it’s just the surface hairline type scratches.

Polishing every month seems a bit overkill. Maybe once or twice a year.

Exactly. I have a SS 42mm Apple Watch and it has scratches. Nothing terrible and it’s to be expected. It’s a watch lol. The screen on the other hand is durable as hell. There have been a few times where I thought, yup, that left a mark but nope. Still beautiful.

SS scratches but also buffs out. That’s how it works. Either accept it or get something that doesn’t. I’d rather have a metal than a plastic.

I've found a fullproof way to stop scratches!

Leave it in the box.

I've got about 5 light scratches on the screen already. It's called wear and tear.
I have somehow managed to keep my device free from noticeable scratches, but I always end up getting them.

Honestly, with Qi charging on the iPhone 8, 8+, and X I’m not sure why people who have to keep it perfect don’t just get a “waterproof” case and keep it in there from day 1 and just charge it wirelessly. It shouldn’t get messed up if there isn’t any stuff in the case to rub against the phone. Personally, I like using a caseless phone 99% of the time so I just learn to deal with scratches.

Geez lady, we're not going to take pot scrapers to them.

Except you can polish stainless steel easily and maintain a nice shiny coat. Once SG scratches it's done. Other's have already scratched the SG band and have no option other than deal with it. It appears the PVD coating they used isn't the same as on the SB apple watch (which is very strong). I'm much rather take little scratches that I can buff out occasionally than the other option. Let's see whose phone look better after a year ;)

It's like the old iPods, breathing on them results on scratches.... :)

Does no matter. That is not the point , with SS you can polish scratches out. Any scratch on the space grey cannot be polished out.

Remember the space grey iPhone 5 ..... good example of scratches to stay ...

I wish the space black had SS band actually for that reason

Best thing to do is just let it get more scratched, it'll bother you less that a few scratches because they will no longer stand out, and you'll stop having to worry about things scratching it. You're going to replace the thing in a couple years anyway.
