I thin I am going to have to wait and feel / see in hand. Right now I have far too many concerns and questions. On the other hand the 8 looks like a solid device.
Is the "X" worth it ... o_O

Worth it is ultimately decided by who chooses to buy it. Doesn't seem worth it but potential buyers buy on emotion and not necessarily needs or logic.

The actual reason for the "disturbing gap"!

iPrint :apple:
;):D

Thats because you should NEVER use your phone in the car while driving. It's the number one reason for young people to die. Glad they introduce Do Not Disturb While Driving in iOS 11.
Actually, I ALWAYS use my phone while driving on a highway. Don't forget that now you can buy a car which drives itself on a highway. It can maintain the lane and the speed automatically.

Such a comment warrants a very late response.

You shouldn't *use your iPhone while driving......Period.

*=not using it except for looking at the screen for navigation purposes.
exactly. People who use their phone while driving and if caught won't even have a driving licence anybody here.

Well you are very lucky to still have your licence then...If caught you would be banned. Certainly in the UK

The Fanboyism here is garishly disturbing. The FACE ID failed in the demo and yet everyone is applauding it.

This will not be easy to use in the car while driving at all. Nobody is even mentioning that.
Huh? Did you see the same conference? The faceid worked just fine. You always have to type in your I'd when you reboot an iPhone....even with touchID. Not sure why it's a big deal when faceID mimmicks the same behavior. I think you may be just trolling the issue. Its not like FaceID can be unlocked with a photo like some other $1000 dollar phones that won't be mentioned.

Anybody else disappointed it doesn’t have a 120Hz “ProMotion” display like the iPad Pro? Also, still no Apple Pencil support?

I think I’ll wait for v2. I expect that version will ship in September like normal, so it’s only a 10 month wait.

My complaint about Face ID is the unnecessary extra swipe upward required to unlock and show the home screen.

As much as I want it, I just can't justify $23,499 MXN on a phone :(
For me in the US, it's be $1,349 plus tax.

I just cannot justify that for a phone I'll exchange in 1-1.5 years and still feel like a responsible adult. No judgement to those who do, but I would just feel so guilty.

Certain laws are not enforceable or not enforced. Besides, I can argue, that I am not really driving while using the phone. My car is driving on autopilot.

Again, everyone wanted it to look like this:

Instead we get a hindrance on screen ****ing come on.. this is your anniversary phone. It would've been flawless that way.
Who knows. That is a software decision so they could possibly do that in an update.

I think it could be fixed with an update as well, just put a virtual horizontal line just under the notch that extends both sides and have any content under that line.

Yah i think that will be fixed, there is no reason to swipe after Face ID unlocks the phone, there will probably be an option to go to which ever screen or app you want it to go to, or as a default it should go to the home screen and then an option could be added if users want to go to a different screen or app straight away after unlocking.

This is what he was referring to:

As you implied, it wasn't an issue with Face ID, but it appeared that way to the audience. It was not a great way to introduce everyone to the new tech...that's for sure. ;)

I like the X but won't buy it as I'm cheated out of 250 EU as compared to US price.

I am very worried that Face ID will not work for Siamese Twins. I thought Apple was all in on inclusion.

Wow you're an idiot. I hope you crash (without hurting anyone else) just so you learn your lesson.

It doesn't go straight to the home screen?

I prefer it doesn’t. It’s like picking my current iPhone now and not putting my finger on Touch ID. Sometimes I just want to quickly glance at the screen to see notifications. With what you both are suggesting, that would be impossible.

Yes but i already do that when i press the power button once, it shows the locked screen with any notifications without unlocking or using Touch ID, when i use TouchID it automatically goes to the home screen, which should be the same with Face ID as well, or there should be an option of where it goes for someone who prefers like you want for example.

I kind of agree. Sometimes I just want to see the notification screen when I pick up my phone and face I'd would go straight to the apps
