Still not tempted by iPhone "Notch" @ parity with USA $999 = UK £999 with exchange rate currently at £1.00 = $1.33
price should be £752.44p NOT £999.00

A grand for a phone, you've gotta be kidding.

The US price is missing tax though. So really with VAT added (not sure if theres any other levies applied to apple for importing) it should cost a little over 900 pounds.

How come the Iphone X still has a lower screen to body ratio than the S8? The side and bottom bezel must be quite substantial.

Kdarling wrote in another post that he thinks the FaceID was Apple's backup plan because the technology for TouchID embedded in the screen wasn't ready.
If that's so I would expect they've abandoned TouchID for screen entirely. There's no way they're adding it to the X after touting how great FaceID is, and I doubt they're designing a lower-end screen-to-edge design with TouchID for screen.

This is likely the last year of an iPhone with a home button or bezel. There won't be a 9 or 9 Plus. Next year we will see the return to 2 phones. The next generation X and a X Plus to compete with the Samsung S9 and Note.

Why is the front camera of IPX so low spec? 7MP f/2.2

Android flagships at least 8MP and f/1.7.

That ought to come in handy while in the operating room.

Interesting how someone with common sense is called a peasant. What do you call people who can't actually afford the phone but finance it for 3 plus years?

A moron?

I'm sorry but that top bezel is is too distracting. At $1000 they could have made it more attractive. 10 years on and they Apple still has ugly bezels.

In Europe (converted from Euro to US dollar) the iPhone X 64GB is approx $1400 and 256GB $1600 without AppleCare but with taxes included. What I find very strange is the fact that Samsung Galaxy S8+ is approximately $950. Apparently Galaxy S8+ has better screen and that's hardly surprising since they manufacture both Galaxy S8 and iPhone X screens. So, why on earth is iPhone X $450-650 more expensive than a Samsung S8+ which apparently has better hardware? I accept the higher price of iPhone 8 but that should have been iPhone X and Apple should have just skipped the iPhone 8 altogether.

maybe I'll finally jump ship. the problem is I just don't like Android. And i have never been able to figure how to get my music off iTunes onto Android. Google Play Music and Amazon music doesn't work well at all. Sure it uploaded my music but it's all a mess (largely because iTunes destroyed it all in the first place).

Is it Vat that causes the price hike?

Why do tech companies have an aversion to the number 9? Microsoft did this too.

I know about 4 being an unlucky number in China but am not sure what's up with 9.

It does look a very nice phone despite my scepticism over FaceID (too passive compared to TouchID for my liking - can we at least have something like "shake your head = phone requires passcode"). We'll see how well it works - the fail in the keynote didn't bode well. I'll possibly be interested once the XI (or X 10.1? Pumaphone?) comes out next year if the pricing comes down a bit. I'd also like to see iOS 12 drop the "ears" and just have the notification area permanently black - it looks really daft with the cutout in the middle of videos and games.

The Fanboyism here is garishly disturbing. The FACE ID failed in the demo and yet everyone is applauding it.

This will not be easy to use in the car while driving at all. Nobody is even mentioning that.

thats cause you shouldnt be using your phone in the car while driving. all phones should be disabled as soon as you start your vehicle

So are you telling me that an OLED panel, Face ID and Animojis, make spending 300 dollars more on a phone worth it?

)

Yes! Not only is an oled screen, but it's a brand new design that cuts off the top and bottom bezels and makes the screen have rounded borders, a lot of challenges have been overcomed in materializing this new design and that costs money especially for the first iteration. The great thing for people who don't deem it worth it is that they have cheaper and less innovative iPhones to buy from.

I find it fascinating that many (not all) of the people who were defending Apple for not offering a 128GB iPhone (because Apple was supposedly pushing people to iCloud) are now moaning that the entry level is "only" 64GB and that there is no 512GB option.

True, in white, it's as jarring as a giant thigh gap in tight white pants.

People seem to overwhelmingly think that the status sections should be black to match the sensor section.

So I'd sure like to know who at Apple likes the white. Heh. Probably whoever came up with the idea in the first place :D

'Striking' Display and 'Sensational-Looking' Design Make High Price Worth It”

For $1000 I think not (Jerry Seinfeld voice)..... lol

If you are upgrading to a new phone from a 6 or a 7 perhaps, the choice isn't $0 vs. $1,000.00. I have a 6 plus, if I upgrade to the 8 plus, I'm looking at $800.00. So really the choice is $800 vs. $1,000 (so for $200 more I could potentially get the X). $200 is not a huge gap in my mind. So for people saying $1,000 for a phone is too much, that's sort of silly, as your choice isn't $0 vs. $1,000 its $700 or $800 vs. $1,000.

WTF is this abomination??

I love all of the people moaning about the iPhone X on here.

The more people moan the easier it will be for me to pre-order this iconic new product. Can't wait.

Again, everyone wanted it to look like this:

Instead we get a hindrance on screen ****ing come on.. this is your anniversary phone. It would've been flawless that way.

Although I agree, I'm not all that worried about it to be honest. In fact, the blacked out notch is present, as seen on the home app screen (see picture where the person it holding it). I blame Apple's insistence on a white UI throughout iOS. There really needs to be a black / dark mode UI now more than ever. It'll likely be an iterative thing.

5.8 inch display, bezel less design but in landscape the phone renders webpages with huge white bars around the content which defeats the object of there being no bezel.

Unbelievable :D

I imagine Apple could easily add a software option to disable the notch, but that it doesn't show off the extra size as well so they've disabled it on the demo phone.
Wouldn’t disabling the notch area (top bar) mean you’re not watching video at the native resolution of the screen? Would that impact battery life? Would it make app development more difficult? I don’t know, but I doubt Apple kept the notch just to piss people off.
