My God you guys, what are you talking about??

The iPhone X has a different aspect ratio (19.5:9 with notch and 18.5:9 without the notch) than the 8/8+ (16:9) so yeah, the 5.5 and 5.8 is not comparable, I did this pictures a few days just to get an idea of the new X screen size.

It is longer but not as wide like the Plus, I'm coming from a Plus model, so I'm pretty sure it will feel more like a 8 Plus more than a 8 normal.

Looks like the x pictures could almost be mistaken as starbucks coffee cup...venti mode. LOL :D

Pick up a 6,7 or 8 and a plus model, open up the same web page and look at the difference in scale, that’s what you will get on the X. It’s not a big deal unless you are used to the wider viewport on the plus. Then it might take a bit of getting used to, that and more sites displaying in mobile mode rather than desktop mode as they do on the plus. The main difference is smaller fonts but you can adjust that in settings if it’s an issue.

The iPhone X is going to make my 8+ look like a toy.

I love to see the technology push forward.

I am coming from the 6s Plus and I'll admit I was a little hesitant at first to get the X due to the slight downgrade in screen width. While I love the large screen of the Plus, I decided to preorder the iPhone X anyway and look forward to the change. My 6s Plus stays in my front pocket most of the day so I will welcome the smaller form factor based on that alone. I also have smaller hands and find myself using reachability quite often since I have trouble using it with one hand. I will keep my 6s Plus as a backup device (which still works great).

Just picked up my new case from Best Buy in preparation of my iPhone X coming Nov 3rd, and although I saw the picture comparisons, now that I'm holding my iPhone X case next to my iPhone 6s Plus, the iPhone X is small and a little disappointing. I guess I’m wanting an iPhone X Plus with a 6.5 or 7’ screen. This is bothering more than the notch!

There are dozens of photos showing the size difference between the iPhone 6/7/8, iPhone Plus 6/7/8 and the iPhone X. The iPhone X's screen is the same as the Plus models, only the the form factor is smaller. There is no stating claiming the screen size on the X is larger than the screen size on the Plus models.

Here is a pic of my 7 inside of its silicone case, inside of my X's silicone case.

I'm a little nervous about the change in size but think it will be more comfortable to use. I can use my plus one-handed for the most part but it does wobble and make me almost drop it once in a while.
Judging from the case I have, you will still be balancing your X to use it one-handed. I'm 6'5" with huge hands and i can't reach the opposite side of the case with my thumb without readjusting the phone first.

I am honestly glad it's smaller, as I've become tired of carting the plus around. I gave it a fair shot for two iterations (6S+ and the 7 Plus), but for me it is just too big to use comfortably.

Had the X not been released, I would have downsized to the regular 8.

Agree. Personally, was getting tired of lugging the + around. I’m super pumped to have a phone that fits in cup holders again.

Guys don’t worry.

The phone isn’t as small as you think it is. It’s a tad bit bigger than the regular 4.7 and a tad bit smaller and skinnier than the plus.

It’s literally the sweet spot.

My girl has a 4.7 iPhone 7. I was using it the other day for a few hours and I was surprised at how comfortable it is to use it while moving around. I barely felt it in my pocket. Taking it out was effortless. Wity my 7plus, I sometimes have to finesse it out or wrestle with it to come out of my pocket.

Sure the 6/7/8 feel good to handle but once I wake the screen on my girlfriends 4.7" 6S I immediately miss my Plus.

I'm Coming from and iphone 5S so I'm kinda a holdout for large screens, and I like the fact that it's going to be big, but not as big as the plus models themselves, cause after holding a plus model I just don't want to deal with a phone that size.

Here's the best test if you have a Plus on you.

Pull up your Plus keyboard and where the Q starts (left edge of the letter Q itself) and P ends (right edge of the letter P itself) is where it cuts off on the X screen protecter exactly.

That's all you're losing horizontally, but taller. Maybe 1/8 inch each side?

That is actually a really interesting way to look at it and made me less worried about the new screen size after trying it

And this is why I’m so excited for the iPhone X. Don’t like those fat plus size models.

I want the 4.7 iPhone size with a bigger screen an that’s what the iPhone X gives me.

I’m sooo happy :)

It’s coming on launch day pre ordered with my carrier Silver version :)

I also think those who like plus size phones should just stick to plus size models.

Here’s a thought. Hold & look at the bloody phone first , before ordering !

I’ve had 6s Plus , (skipped 7 Plus) & currently have 8 Plus.

I’d love the new X , & tbh my wife & kids are amazed & in shock that I didn’t order last Friday , just so I could’ve either had it o launch day , or in 5-6 weeks time.

My reasoning ? Well I love the Plus size , always have & always will. I refuse to part with either £999 or £1199 on something I have not seen inthe flesh , & more important ....actually held. If I’d never had a Plus size , or the X was a Plus , it would be a no brainer for me , however I’m not buying until I’ve satisfied myself that it’s what I like & comfortable in my hands.

So next Saturday when I’m in the city , I shall work my way through the Apple store crowds , & look at the demo model. I shall hold it , swipe the screen , look at both colours etc etc , & then make a sensible adult decision based on my findings. If I believe I won’t be happy , as in i wont be 100% satisfied with size & feel , then I’ll skip it & see what next year brings. If I love it , & want it & am satisfied that the slightly smaller form factor is something that will not bother me , then Apple can take my money.

I’m aware that I’ll have to wait 5-6 weeks , but that makes no odds to me at all. I’ve never had this phone before , so another month or so makes no difference to me. After all , all my cars have been different , & I never changed them before looking at them & going for a test drive first.

Cheers.

...the screen on the X is basically the same size as your 6s Plus. You didn't lose anything other than useless bezels.

The screen on the 7plus,6splus etc is bigger. Just like a ipad pro 12.9 screen is bigger than a 13 macbook. Its the screen area, not just diagional.
The iphone plus is much wider.

The iphone x is almost the same width as the iphone 8. In portrait mode the viewable area of the x and the 8 is almost the same. your going to see a huge difference is landscape mode.
