Here is a pic of my 7 inside of its silicone case, inside of my X's silicone case.

This !

Seeeeeeee.

You guys are all flipping out for nothing.

It’s bigger than that 4.7 AND slightly thicker.

Is that are coming from. The plus sizes need not to worry.

I think you completely misunderstand the size difference. You think the X is the same width as the plus models? its not.
Its going to be just as narrow as the regular 6/7/8. Its taller, due to bezels being gone, but you will still have all the limitations of the 6/7/8, that is, the increased word wrapping, lack of tabs in safari landscape mode.

The below picture illustrates this, its not my pic, but its from xcode simulator, so you can see the difference in the amount of word wrapping you will experience between the X and the plus screen, due to the narrower width.

Ouch. Very painful on the eyes to read it on the X.

Almost as annoying as reading a wall of text by someone who doesn't use paragraphs.

What?

Jesus some of the complaints on here are bizarre. I get the feeling some people are unable to wake up in the morning unless they carry an iPad Pro in their pocket...

Hahah... I have an iPad Pro too!

What's bizarre about not liking the increased word wrapping you'll get with the X? Look at the pic. I've been using a Plus for 3 years... going to an X would be a decrease in width as many have pointed out in this thread.

Screen size is everything. The X is a downgrade so I got the 8 Plus.

The X Plus next year is definitely something I will consider. Apple figured out once that people like increased screen size... I'm sure they'll do it again next year.

The X is not a downgrade in screen size or anything else. Congrats on your attempts to justify your purchase of the 8 Plus. The rest of us are happy to have that “Plus” screen size in a smaller form factor, without bezels.

I use an SE.

I have literally never, ever said "Oh no, there is more text wrapping here than I can handle"

I can't handle Plus sized phones, I did try with a 6 Plus when they were new but it's just infuriatingly big, doesn't fit in the pocket, for absolutely no gain. It's as easy to read stuff on an SE as it is a 6 Plus. I've pre-ordered an X, so we'll see how it fares. It'll be sold after the novelty runs out I think.

if it makes them feel better. i think lots of those people just need a hug cause they made a mistake and can't accept it

Congrats on your attempts to justify your purchase of the 8 Plus.

Why is that like the most used comeback on this site? "You are attempting to justify your purchase!"

Just because someone posts something you don't agree with doesn't mean they are attempting to justify their purchase. Go back through the 12 pages in this thread that is about SCREEN SIZE.

There are at least 50 comments from people saying they prefer the Plus over the X screen size for a variety of reasons.

I guess we're all attempting to justify our purchase eh?

I bought the 8 Plus because I wanted the 8 Plus. Why?

1) wider screen
2) no ugly af notch
3) Touch ID
4) A11 Bionic (same as in X)
5) 3GB RAM (same as in X)
6) 256 GB storage (same as in X)

But hey, you've got me on dual OIS, OLED and animojis. Grats... enjoy your "flagship" phone.

Nobody here gives af. I'm enjoying the hell out of my 8 Plus. How's that for justification?

I hit a nerve. He’s triggered lol.

He’s not triggered. He’s just not in denial to the fact that the X is is basically a stretched out iPhone 8. If a person only uses portrait mode the X should be fine. But the first time watching a video in landscape and it’ll be a noticeable downgrade from the Plus. Facts are facts. This thread is littered with visual proof.

Thank you. I appreciated the laugh. People with the X will enjoy video on a screen that is basically the same size as those found on the Plus models, but with a far superior OLED screen.

Yes, that is letterboxed on a more narrow screen, that makes the content the same as on a 4.7” screen, but once zoomed, cropped and hidden behind a notch. Now that is what I call improvement lmao.

I think people are missing the fact that while though the previous versions were larger and appeared to offer more viewing area, well not really with that half inch bezel at the top AND bottom of the screen, you know that entire blackened area that serves no purpose?!?! With the X you get More viewing pleasure in a smaller package because the fluff has been removed. The insignificant black area. The significance of the home button has yet to be determined ( come on Face don't fail us )

Who the hell watches a crappy YouTube or FaceBook video (probably at 360p) on a phone screen and goes "Wow, I sure do enjoy the quality of the screen in which I am watching this video on"

Half the time you're in a room with crap lighting anyway

Half the viewing area is usually taken up by stupid banners which say "THIS MADE ME LOL" up top and "TOTALLY ME" down the bottom anyway

FWIW, the X is virtually the same size as the 'Essential Phone' which I imported from Amazon US after the price reduction last week (I'm in UK).

I previously had an Xperia XZ Premium which I think is the same kind of size as a Plus (and also had massive bezels).
I prefer bigger phones, and always used the Plus models for iPhone.

The Essential is the perfect size. It feels fantastic in the hand and can be used one handed (which I couldn't do with the Plus or my XZp) but I do have small hands for a guy! :p

The X will likely be the same. I think most of you who are worried will pick it up and instantly love it.
I know I will!

...I’ll be more focused on UHD content via Netflix, Amazon Instant and my substantial Plex Library.

It’s just shouldn’t be that difficult for some people to grasp. Yes, the X should be a great phone. But if you are coming from a Plus, know what you are getting into. Natively the videos are letterboxed to avoid the notch. On an already narrower screen as shown below. If you zoom, you not only crop the video but your content is hidden behind the notch. The native 16:9 scale on the plus allows the entire screen to properly fit videos. It’s not rocket science. It’s not a conspiracy.

I think people are making too much of this. I've alternated between the plus size and the normal size iPhones over the past few years. Most people who have plus phones have them due to perceived better battery life or camera options. Or they want the more "premium" device. I think the larger screen size is actually a third or fourth concern. If Apple tells most customers that this new size is the new default "premium," most buyers will adopt that.

Hard to say it as fact when it is a fact you don’t have your own personal model to compare yet...

Just picked up my new case from Best Buy in preparation of my iPhone X coming Nov 3rd, and although I saw the picture comparisons, now that I'm holding my iPhone X case next to my iPhone 6s Plus, the iPhone X is small and a little disappointing. I guess I’m wanting an iPhone X Plus with a 6.5 or 7’ screen. This is bothering more than the notch!

One of the dangers of buying something sight unseen just to be one of the first. Kind of like buying shoes online and hope they fit.

Really? So you need to experience everything in life firsthand before confirming as fact? See four posts above. This stuff isn’t new.

The comment you made that I quoted was completely subjective, based on something that would require you to have possession of the product in question to ascertain what you committed as fact to be exactly that.

That being said, since the nature of the comment is based on subjectivity, it cannot be determined as fact for anyone besides yourself, as you will experience the product in a different manner than the person sitting next to you. Subjectivity is such a pain in the rear, isn’t it?
