It’s been said a bunch already but I was also a little surprised when I pulled my case out of the box and held it near my 6s+.

I also saw all the comparison pics etc etc but until I held it in person it didn’t sink in.

I am going to give it a shot and ifmfir some reason I don’t like it my wife will get the 10 and I will buy a 8+ or will wait a year and see if there is a 10s+.

I was skeptical at first coming from the Plus models. However, having nearly the same screen space in a much smaller shell is what I've always wanted. It'll be nice to have a phone that fits nicely in my pocket and cup holders in my car again. If I was losing a ton of screen space I'd be upset but I'm losing a minuscule amount if I have read correctly.

am i missing something here that so many are so confused about this? (not trying to be mean, but.)

Your aren’t missing anything. I think that this is a perspective issue. Because the aspect ratio is different , content on the X , in most cases, displays smaller than than the plus model; making the plus model seem like the “bigger screen”.

If you hold a galaxy s8 (NOT the S8 plus) next to a plus , the display is actually very small even though it is technically bigger.

There is a trade off to be had with the X model for sure. And people, including myself, are trying to figure out if the trade off is worth it.

It’s funny though, I remember having the same kind of talks when we went from the iPhone 4-5, although that change was no where near as drastic I think

What does the size of the phone matter? To me smaller is better anyway. It's the screen size that matters. But I can see that some may think the screen is too narrow because of the aspect ratio. I saw an Samsung S8 in Best Buy. I thought it was pretty narrow as well,

the perception of the relative size of the display is largely a subjective assessment. small to some, fine to others.

If you ordered the iPhone X and are concerned, you have 14 days to try the phone and see if it will be compatible for you. If you didn't order the phone and are on the proverbial fence, wait until it is at the store and try it in person. If still unsure, place and order and make use of the return policy. Not as big a problem as some are making it.

The screen real estate lost on the iPhone X should be compared to the iPhone 7 not the iPhone 6 plus or 7 plus. Apple doesn't martlet the iPhone X as a replacement for the plus models nor has Apple said the screen size is exactly the same. The screen ratio is different than what we have been using. For some, that will be a problem, because they don't like change. For others, it will be a slight adjustment. Same scenario occurred with the release of the plus models.

I think some here prefer to create or live in the iPhone drama, rather than take a step back and realize, that the situation is not as dramatic as some appear to want it to be.

If the new phone doesn't work for you, there are other models. Not complicated unless one wants it to be.

I’m looking forward to it...I’ve been wanting to get away from the plus models but it has always been hard to do when you see the extra battery, better display and camera getting paired with the plus model each time. I can’t wait to shrink my phone down.

And for many people, those are compelling reasons to purchase. If I can get the same build quality and better features from the new phone, that I have enjoyed with my iPhone 7 plus, (which I have liked since day one) I will be happy.

It just looks small because the obese bezels are gone.

I remember the naysayers when the plus coming out, that it would be too big for your hands, too heavy, to easy to scratch... threads of ppl hating the plus size. my how times have changed. haha.

I was just about to post exactly what you were saying.

I remember the folks whining about the 4.7 inch iphone being too big. Now they're complaining about it being too small.

Only thing is you will lose an hr of battery since it’s in between the 7 and 7 plus with battery life

OP don’t worry, there are rumors that the next 2018 iPhone will include a Plus 6.1 inch version of the X.

Everybody who are worried about screen size of X should try regular Galaxy S8, because the experience would be very similar to it.
To me this kind of screen size is way to small. But users who perfer regular iPhone will be more than happy :)

Just picked up my new case from Best Buy in preparation of my iPhone X coming Nov 3rd, and although I saw the picture comparisons, now that I'm holding my iPhone X case next to my iPhone 6s Plus, the iPhone X is small and a little disappointing. I guess I’m wanting an iPhone X Plus with a 6.5 or 7’ screen. This is bothering more than the notch!
That's what happens when you ditch the forehead and chin. The X has always been described as closer in size to the non-Plus models than the Pluses. That's the only reason I upgraded from the SE, which has the best footprint of any current iPhone. If the X had been the Plus size, it wouldn't have been for me. But I suspect that some portion of Plus owners upgrading to the X will be disappointed by the slightly smaller screen.

I have the 7+ now but I’m okay with the X being smaller. I have small hands and holding my 7+ makes them cramp and ache.

I think this thread is too funny to read when most of you got new iPhone X case. Made quickly negative judgement. I just think it is too early to tell since we haven't got new iPhone X. Once you get new iPhone X give your body and mind and time to play with new iPhone X. Try not too think too much negative when you have new iPhone X it won't help you out. We all got try relax and enjoy the product. I hope iPhone X is solid product but not always. I'm getting mine this friday. I wish everyone have fun with it and enjoy it. Cheers :)

No...it isn’t
Seriously how are you in such denial? There have been dozens of threads on this topic that have shown visuals, measurements, graphics, etc that clearly show the difference in width between the X and plus. Particularly when you go into landscape mode and everything is letter-boxed unless you zoom, to which point you crop and lose content behind the notch. This has even been clarified with multiple examples in this thread alone but you seemingly cannot accept it. The Plus may have bezels but it absolutely has more viewable space. Especially when you consider that 5.8” screen is measured from the corner ears.

OMG! Screen Size-Gate... I'm glad I didn't pre-order. I'm waiting for first impression reviews from those that did pre-order. Just yesterday, I was wondering if I should get the 8 Plus If the screen on this X was smaller than expected. I don't know if I can wait another year for an X Plus. Chances are, regardless of what I think of the X screen, I may be owning one once the sim-free is released.

i am not sure what to make of this, but i also think that the size wont really be obvious until you see the phone in the case. here is a side by side

At least the 8 Plus is readily available at any given store if the X doesn't work out.

That’s actually incorrect. The aspect ratio is different on the X which makes the diagonal length similar to the Plus but in reality it’s significantly smaller.
it's a little bit smaller.

about 9mm x 9mm smaller.. if you crammed the display full of icons, the plus could fit one more icon than the X
