Was able to get mine at 8 minutes before launch time on the carrier's web site, NOT Apple. I learned from doing it several times before how and when to do it. Got mine confirmed almost instantly via email with arrival date by Nov 3. Got the Silver 256GB model which goes with my Apple 3 watch. 
I'm going to be in Fairbanks next week, no Apple Stores up there so I had to ensure my alarm worked to get a preorder in for shipment.
256/Space Gray- same experience as many others. Tried the app first & got a message that a “reservation was pending “. That didn’t look right so I sauntered over to the My Verizon app & leisurely put in my order, payment details, etc.
Confirmed delivery of 11/15. Very happy with that. I’m sure my current 7 will hold out an extra 2 weeks.

I have Verizon, I should have used their site. Last year their site had issues, so I decided to do the Apple Store App this year, since so many people had success with it this year. However, I heard some of my friends were able to do it on the Verizon website, a few minutes early. The thing that sucks is, when I went through the app. I selected the Monthly Verizon charges, and I just got a $1200 or so charge on my debit card saying I bought it full price, when I know I didn't select that. Anyone else experiencing this?
Sharing as I know others are in the same boat and worried.
Ordered through the IUP programme. Pre-approved the other day, couldn't get into the store app until 0811 (Irish time), but was done in 20 seconds once I could. The confirmation email just came in, as well as the loan approval email.

I had a similar experience. I was able to get on the at&t website at 8 minutes before launch. Then at 2:54am, I checked out with (2) silver, 256gb models for my wife and I. The weird thing is that I was on the Google chrome browser 40 minutes before launch and that browser did not let me in about 20 minutes after launch. The browser that let me in 8 minutes early was Safari. I assume that is how you got in early as well?
That's not very helpful right now...... As there isn't much I can do but try and get this fine phone from them.
Verizon was the first site to let me through, and after a couple minutes I had a Nov. 3rd delivery date. I had planned on using the apple store app, but it wouldn't go through for minutes. Both online store and app were not available for 8 mins.
Then as I was not in the UK the system kept pointing me at German stores!! Great but I am on the upgrade program...
Next it would not take a post code to locate the nearest store or indeed the nearest town did not work. Presumably as it thought I was in Germany - only I was in fact in Austria! Only typing in the actual store worked. In the end of course the initial batch had gone... Now I have two messages both different - on the app it says before 18th November. On the website it says from!!!! Make your mind up Apple - which is it!
It's understandable with so many people accessing the store at once there are going to be issues however it does not need to be this way -- Apple just do this to cause excitement. Quite frankly if I had not been on the upgrade program I would probably have stayed the way I was. The iPhone X has absolutely nothing new to offer compared to other phones out there - except perhaps for a notch!

If it helps anyone who had their BarclayCard declined, I just spoke to BarclayCard and they said the problem is on Apple's end and that transactions won't be fixed until tomorrow, and I should try re-submitting payment then. I really hope this doesn't mean I lose my place in the queue for shipping on 3rd November, especially as it seems to be a problem on Apple's side!
Just weird. I finally got Apple.com order at 315am for November 17-24 64gb model.
Just woke up and att my att app finally working (it was showing 20 min waiting time at 3am). And I just ordered another iPhone x 64gb with November 2-10th ship.
I could have gotten 256gb model myAT&T app with November 3rd delivery. But I don’t want the 256gb model.
