Its not really "major" Its a slight redesign. Its not like they went from an iPhone 3g to an iPhone 4 now...

These are all the exterior design changes. I don't know about you but I'd consider removing the home button alone as a major.

- Removed home button
- Changed Biometric technology, added the notch
- Changed screen size
- Changed aspect ratio
- Changed screen technology
- Reduced bezels on all sides
- Dual camera implemented on a smaller phone
- Changed materials
- Changed size in all dimensions

Releasing it at the same time as the 8 would actually make more business sense than delaying it to build hype, but yes yes we all understand you've got a fake "supply line limitations" narrative to push.
I think staggering the launches makes more sense.

Sell-out the cheapest model first, wait until everyone’s outside of the 14 day return window and then launch the ‘upmarket’ model. Reduces return costs.

It’s probably why Apple’s stockpiling X inventory now, instead of selling it immediately.

Good to hear, but I wasn't expecting any less. There are production issues every year and I always get my iPhone on launch day. Looking forward to this major jump.

Haha seriously, not a redesign? Give me a break. The front of an iPhone has been the same for 10 years now. This is basically the first major redesign in that time period. I am agreeing with you btw, just can't believe the guy you responded to.

So what if Apple created all this as a marketing tactic. They are in the business to make money and if their activities aren't illegal and they work, then good for them. I love Apple quality and groundbreaking technology. I'm so proud that Apple is a company born, raised and still in America.

Exchange might not be possible right away due to the shortage
Valid point. Apple tend to hold extra units for exchanges of faulty units at launch. Of course if numerous phones are faulty, then replacement units will run out. Furthermore, not everyone lives near an Apple store, so heading in to get a replacement right away is not always an option.

Personally I'd wait a couple of months to make sure Apple (and suppliers) have ironed out obvious manufacturing issues.

This is a major redesign. We don't have to be guinea pigs.

or, take advantage of your 14 day returns policy and decent customer service and get it replaced if it has issues.

So if I understand correctly.....the rumors about the rumors about the supply chain were inflated so that people could speculate about more rumors? Building the hype machine! They have figured out how to "make a camped-out line" waiting at home to purchase the newest iPhone while not having a real line camped out at the stores like early iPhone days.
Marketing Genius!

This isn't 2010-2012 anymore. Early-bird eagerness and excitement for launch day iPhones died out years ago.

I don't know, I'm kind of excited. I'm going to be coming form a 6S, so I think this is going to be a big upgrade for me. I'm particular excited about getting the dual cameras without having to carry an iPhone Plus in my pocket.

I’m waiting until the 11 to come out next year hoping for more ram, pro motion, faster wireless charging like most Samsung do (faster then 7.5 w) and a larger phone then the X
You're going to wait a year for things that might never come. Might as well keep waiting forever.

oh, if its digitimes it gotta be correct.
Digitimes are supply chain experts. They’re very good with that stuff. What they’re bad at is interpreting it to mean what kind of products Apple is working on. In the case of iPhone X, I’d put weight on this report.

Good for you

Please everyone follow this example ....... That way i wont have to get up at 3am to pre-order and still get the phone on launch day (and if something is wrong with it, i just exchange it ... But i anyway never had an issue with my launch day phone, and i do this every year)

LOL yes ;-)

So rumors have said they are behind, and now they say they are on track. Next rumor is they are ahead!

the things of interest to me to even consider the X:

- Changed screen size
- Changed screen technology
- Reduced bezels on all sides

The number one and main interest for me (otherwise I would keep my 7plus 256), and let me elaborate on this one. The dual camera with image stabilization on both lenses, and the camera tech on all the phones has better low light tech than my 7Plus. This could let me do more low light pictures and with image stabilization even better I am thinking. I like to play with scenery, sunrise/sunset and think this would improve some of what my do. Your milage and interest on the X for this may vary from me ;-)

- Dual camera implemented on a smaller phone

Come on guys (y’all, from Engadget to MacRumors to Mashable and so on), please stop this meaningless rumor mill, nobody knows a damn thing on chain supply and despite of this everybody seemingly need to follow and forward these “reports” based on a profound lack of veritable informations, all contradictory second by second, nothing concrete, with a generous dose of "reportedly" here and there.

- YESTERDAY: “Apple is doooooooooooomed”

- TODAY: “everything’s fineeeeee”.

Massive improvements from a cataclysmic report THROUGH. A. SINGLE. DAY.

Is ANYBODY really thinking there’s somebody over here (a very broad “here”, not specifically MacRumors) holding his/her [redacted-but-you-know-the-word] on this matter?

This is ridiculous. Really.
Please, stop writing about the nothingness: it's exhausting.

Sometimes it's a sign of quality and professionality to NOT say that "reportedly" happened something. And news outlet like Engadget, The Verge or clickbait-and-ads-in-chief-Mashable are not a guarantee, too. Distinguish yourself, guys.

Thank you and sorry for the rant.

The problem is “What if the reports are right and we don’t cover it” paradox. Cover it and you can claim bad/lying sources later, don’t cover it and it turns out to be true then you get to explain how you missed an important story in the field that you are specifically covering. The ‘bad sources’ fallback is the safe option.
