Add the fact iOS11 needs to get ironed out even more and iPhone X will come with it out of the box.

This has tick model (4/5/6 Plus) -gate issues written all over it. But a $1000-$1200+ iPhone just to be first to own a potentially laggy af, only 3gb RAM, iPhone flagship could be worth it enough for some buyers.

I knew the limited supply talk is just to help the lackluster 8 sales. And perhaps the X really won't sell that well and only YouTubers and sites like this are the ones magnifying the X hype.

This isn't 2010-2012 anymore. Early-bird eagerness and excitement for launch day iPhones died out years ago.

I have never not had a new iPhone on launch day...and I've never had a problem with a single one. Can guarantee you that eagerness and excitement is still alive and well.

Exchange might not be possible right away due to the shortage

Unlikely, there is reserve stock for this purpose.

I think staggering the launches makes more sense.

Sell-out the cheapest model first, wait until everyone’s outside of the 14 day return window and then launch the ‘upmarket’ model. Reduces return costs.

It’s probably why Apple’s stockpiling X inventory now, instead of selling it immediately.
Another reason for staggering the launch was that at the time of the Keynote and also when they launched the iPhone 8 models, Apple didn't have FCC Approval to sell the iPhone X. I think part of the thinking behind the end of October pre-order date was to allow enough time (including float) to get FCC Approval and also stockpile the phones so that there will be enough to meet the demand.

With all of these rumors on issue with parts and suppliers and being the first iPhone with FaceID will any of you just wait until January or later in the hopes of giving them more time to get the production right and with no problems?

in my opinion it sounds more like a fake news for people buy the iPhone 8 (which has trouble because of the release of the iPhone X).

Come on guys (y’all, from Engadget to MacRumors to Mashable and so on), please stop this meaningless rumor mill, nobody knows a damn thing on chain supply and despite of this everybody seemingly need to follow and forward these “reports” based on a profound lack of veritable informations, all contradictory second by second, nothing concrete, with a generous dose of "reportedly" here and there.

- YESTERDAY: “Apple is doooooooooooomed”

- TODAY: “everything’s fineeeeee”.

Massive improvements from a cataclysmic report THROUGH. A. SINGLE. DAY.

Is ANYBODY really thinking there’s somebody over here (a very broad “here”, not specifically MacRumors) holding his/her [redacted-but-you-know-the-word] on this matter?

This is ridiculous. Really.
Please, stop writing about the nothingness: it's exhausting.

Sometimes it's a sign of quality and professionality to NOT say that "reportedly" happened something. And news outlet like Engadget, The Verge or clickbait-and-ads-in-chief-Mashable are not a guarantee, too. Distinguish yourself, guys.

Thank you and sorry for the rant.
You can retreat in the face of seemingly contradictory information, throw up your arms and proclaim that it is impossible to know anything about anything. Or you can try to chart a trend line through all data points and find a fairly smooth if broad line.

For example, rumours have overwhelmingly and consistently over a long time predicted iPhone X shortages and most likely a late launch. And what did we get: A late launch. Look, this really isn't rocket science.

No not even vaguely likely. Apple knows how to design phones to pass FCC approval, they have the equipment in-house to test them to the most exacting standards they know will pass, test them throughout the production process and as soon as they have a production-ready device they can get it certified in the minimum amount of time it takes to get anything certified, which isn't long.

FCC approval is a total non-factor in Apple's rollout timetable.

Artificially created crisis To hype Iphone X

I was waiting for this. The iPhone X features components that Apple hasn't used before. The components have to be packed into a limited amount of space. Low yields on components and supply constraints are bound to happen. Go ahead and carry on though with your thinking that this is all one big marketing scheme.

There are some suggestions that iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus sales have been lower than expected, as the public bides their time until the more feature-rich iPhone X hits stores, although with no actual sales figures at hand, this is still purely speculation.
Here's the source of that information:

So, Foxconn has shipped its first UPS 747 full of X’s 16 days prior to the start of deliveries. Each aircraft can hold 150,000 phones if really pushed.

Yup. Gonna be tens of millions ready on 11-3.

Good for you

Please everyone follow this example ....... That way i wont have to get up at 3am to pre-order and still get the phone on launch day (and if something is wrong with it, i just exchange it ... But i anyway never had an issue with my launch day phone, and i do this every year)
Good for you.
My launch day 6s has been plagued by the battery issue where it would shut down at 30%-ish. And the 6s is not a complete new design.

I hope this is true, this is the first iPhone i've been excited about since the iPhone 5. Can't wait to get one.

So true. UPS owns only a single plane... and flies it just once a day from China.

But that is helpful to any armchair inventory estimator doing the math.

it's going to be hard to get any in the first few weeks if you don't order within minutes anyway

Well larger version is coming probably and rest seem logical since pro motion is in the iPad already
Pro Motion on the iPad uses a LCD screen; what makes you think Pro Motion would work on an OLED screen or if such a screen needs/benefits from it?
