It no longer matters to me. I decided to get an 8 Plus. I am sure I would have loved the X but I don't really care for the "notch"; I think the edge to edge is underwhelming in it's design/aesthetics; and I am ambivalent towards Face ID/3 D cameras.
Plus, I wanted an unlocked phone and I doubt it will be easy to find an unlocked device anytime in the near future.
FWIW, I am very pleased with the 8 Plus coming from an iPhone 6. The 8 should last me 3 to 4 years if I need it to assuming no physical damage.
Artificially created crisis To hype Iphone X
Personally I'd wait a couple of months to make sure Apple (and suppliers) have ironed out obvious manufacturing issues.
This is a major redesign. We don't have to be guinea pigs.
Aw come on! I bought the 8+ so that you could test the X out for me!Personally I'd wait a couple of months to make sure Apple (and suppliers) have ironed out obvious manufacturing issues.

Definitely not aiming to be a downer here, but with all the hype and expectations for this highly anticipated device, sometimes I can't help but wonder how long it will take before Apple will hit a major QC snag like Samsung did with the Note7. And not necessarily a discontinuation, but a super-expensive and confidence-eroding recall campaign?Bring on the iPhone X![]()
This happens during every iphone release. Apple puts out fake news that supplies are low to drive up the demand.
There's probably millions of iphone stockpiles sitting in a warehouse some where.
Yes they make people who have paid deliberately wait for no reason while the stock just 'sits in a warehouse' somewhere

People want what they can't have. Saying that stocks are low make people want to buy the iPhone x more.
Why do you assume that if Apple got into the chip fabrication business they would be better at it than TSMC? or could produce camera modules better than Sony? The companies that produce iPhone components have long standing and experience in their respective areas; Apple has none.Definitely not aiming to be a downer here, but with all the hype and expectations for this highly anticipated device, sometimes I can't help but wonder how long it will take before Apple will hit a major QC snag like Samsung did with the Note7. No matter how meticulously designed your products are, as long as one has to rely on a multitude of third parties for various components, not to mention fabricating your final product, permanently and completely avoiding such a major QC, not to mention PR, headache seems an almost impossible feat to accomplish.

Man, the around the pre-ordering of the iPhone X, looks like a lot of people will be missing sleep that day. Usually how many units do they have for pre-ordering before the delivery deadlines start slipping to more than 3-4 weeks ?
"proMotion" is just a faancy name for 120hz or frames per second, where the "standard" is 60hz/fps. You have "ProMotion" even on CRT monitors that could output more than 60-75hz.Pro Motion on the iPad uses a LCD screen; what makes you think Pro Motion would work on an OLED screen or if such a screen needs/benefits from it?
I did neither state, nor imply that I think Apple should get into the chip-fabrication or camera module manufacturing business, or for that matter, do everything in-house, but I was merely musing about statistical probabilities. Why do you assume that if Apple got into the chip fabrication business they would be better at it than TSMC? or could produce camera modules better than Sony? Good for you
Please everyone follow this example ....... That way i wont have to get up at 3am to pre-order and still get the phone on launch day (and if something is wrong with it, i just exchange it ... But i anyway never had an issue with my launch day phone, and i do this every year)
Come on guys (y’all, from Engadget to MacRumors to Mashable and so on), please stop this meaningless rumor mill, nobody knows a damn thing on chain supply and despite of this everybody seemingly need to follow and forward these “reports” based on a profound lack of veritable informations, all contradictory second by second, nothing concrete, with a generous dose of "reportedly" here and there.
- YESTERDAY: “Apple is doooooooooooomed”
- TODAY: “everything’s fineeeeee”.
Massive improvements from a cataclysmic report THROUGH. A. SINGLE. DAY.
Is ANYBODY really thinking there’s somebody over here (a very broad “here”, not specifically MacRumors) holding his/her [redacted-but-you-know-the-word] on this matter?
This is ridiculous. Really.
Please, stop writing about the nothingness: it's exhausting.
Sometimes it's a sign of quality and professionality to NOT say that "reportedly" happened something. And news outlet like Engadget, The Verge or clickbait-and-ads-in-chief-Mashable are not a guarantee, too. Distinguish yourself, guys.
Thank you and sorry for the rant.
