My wife pre-ordered the first Friday it was possible through AT&T. We live on the East Coast so she didn’t get up in the middle of the night and instead did it at about 2 PM in the afternoon through the AT&T app. The original shipping date was reported to be December 4th through the 11th. She just received an email a few hours ago that it shipped. They must be ramping up production quicker than the analysts predicted. She didn’t receive any notifications that the expected ship date would change prior to the message this evening that it shipped. If people preordered from a cell provider like she did I’d stick with it. It may ship faster than your being told.

So back to my original comment. Pickup a Tmobile variant which is good for all GSM. The only problem would be if you have a GSM carrier, but want your phone to be CDMA compatible "just in case".
Yes. Or an AT&T variant. I think the person asking about the SIM-Free doesn’t have Verizon or Sprint right now but wants the flexibility to switch later.

Ordered mine in the first ten minutes when it was possible. Via the Apple Store App here in Austria.

Apple sent me an email then with "estimated delivery 22–27 Nov". Nothing changed. Yesterday a text message arrived: Will be delivered TODAY!!! :) One week early!

Mine went from estimated shipping date of the 12th of January 2018 to getting delivered today... only problem is I’m in Asia till tomorrow...... I hope the phone is still on my desk at work when I get back.

3 to 4 weeks nothing- I got my iPhone X less than a week after I placed the order w/T-Mobile! (64GB Silver)
I don’t know if I was lucky, or if Apple is inflating the numbers, but based on my experience there’s PLENTY of them available!

Gotta hand it to them imo they handled this release quite well

Ymmv big time but

The screenshot in the article clearly shows British Pound. The rate is 1.32 (Pound to USD), which gives us $1320 for the base model. I paid for the same model $1087 after tax in the US, so it's a $233 difference. I would not call it "roughly the same", it's a big difference. The 256GB model is $1516 doing the same math. That's insane. Frankly speaking.

Finally someone who understands and doesn't say "Tax and currency make up the numbers" when it clearly doesn't.

I preordered on the 27th around 10am ET. First delivery window showed late December... A week later it updated to "between Nov 16 - 24" and surprisingly enough I got home today and my phone was here! Loving everything about the iPhone X. Reminds me of how I felt on launch day of the original iPhone.

Still waiting on my X still shows it's in China.....

Ordered mine mid afternoon at ATT store 10/27 and was given an estimated ship of 12/11-12/18/17. Just got an email this morning with tracking saying it will be delivered this Friday. Whole month earlier than expected. Pretty great..

I said it last year and say it again this year: Intel vs Qualcomm completely overblown

Unless you have cdma needs

Absolutely on target. This “must have the Qualcomm Modem” mind set is less relevant now than ever with the 8 and X. Intell’s Modem in the new phones is a big improvement over the 7. This trend will continue. :apple:

Came here to say the exact same thing. I'm hopeful we'll get the option to order them before Thanksgiving.

Sim-free usually comes before Christmas, but after Thanksgiving. Before Christmas because of all holiday shopping and tourists.

My X order went from December 18 to December 8 to shipping now- again, Apple under promises and outperforms. Excellent.

I live in Mexico, pre ordered the X on Oct 27th. Was supposed to arrive on Dec 14 to 21.

Then got a second email on Nov 2nd with improved delivery dates: Dec 6 to 13th.

5 min ago got a new email saying it has been shipped and ups should deliver on Nov 29th.

Let’s see if it arrives before the 29th

If you plan on staying att model is fine

No model really matters if buying unlocked , unless if u care about being on Verizon or sprint

If I bought directly from Apple, would I automatically get an unlocked phone? I wasn't planning on buying on installment at AT&T, so I believe I can request it be unlocked. Not sure what other distinctions matter.

“Shipping estimates for the iPhone X have improved to 2 to 3 weeks across Europe, suggesting Apple's efforts to ramp up supply and production are starting to see some success.”

Either this or a simple fact that many people in Europe are not willing to shell out over a 1000 € or £ for a smartphone, Apple or not, that will still be outdated in two years time?

Yeah if u got from Apple should be unlocked afaik

Especially if you bought it outright without payment plans it’s definitely unlocked

Haven't ordered from anybody yet, but I will have to make a decision soon. Maybe I should just buy directly from Apple. It should come with an Apple SIM in that case.

No it will come w a SIM of the carrier version you buy.

For sim free when that comes out, will come without a sim of course -- hence sim free

Actually, it's the opposite, with Euro the price difference is not as steep: it's 1.18 rate for Euro vs 1.32 rate for British Pound. So buying the X in the UK is the worst deal price wise.
Nope, since the iPhone X with 64gb costs 1.149€ (including taxes) in Germany for example, that's about $1.339.

You‘ve got to be kidding me! I ordered 40 minutes after the preorders went live and I still have a delivery estimate of mid-december!!!
