iPhone X spotted in public

Apple doesn’t control if an app developer updates their app to support new screen sizes.

Also, in the case of the screen shot with Pokémon Go. The iPhone X is not yet released and therefore the update to Pokemon Go to support the X’s screen ratio cannot go live onto the App Store. It’s the same when for example apps updating for iOS 11 could not go live on the App Store until iOS 11 went live.

You... you think Apple writes all the apps?

Or would have an algorithm that automatically converted aspect ratios of all artwork, 3D models, custom UI work etc in all 3rd party apps?

Oh that’s interesting. Please explain to me how android apps that were designed pixel perfect for 16:9 resolution suddenly jump to fill the screen of the galaxy S8 and Note 8 at 2+:1 without a major stretching and therefor degradation in visual quality?

Ohh no answer? Yeah didn’t think so.
 
Actually, to be fair, I’m 99.9% certain that the S8 has the ability to optimize the apps itself to prevent the black bars.

When I buy a bigger monitor for my Windows or Mac book pro, my apps don't need updating, I just click the maximize button.

I WISH they would have just made a black bar at the top like in the photo hiding the notch. While having the time, cellular there. To me it would have but much better design than the notch. Oh well ... I'm interested to see what optimized apps adapt to it.

That's software fixable by either Apple (unlikely) or App developers, if they choose to have a black header for their Apps*.

*At least I hope they have that freedom to choose - Apple couldn't force App developers to colour their ears on the X a certain colour could they? Last I heard, Apple only suggested they embrace the notch...

Why? Size looks about right. Notch is there. Sides are polished stainless steel.

He’s just using it as normal not flaunting it or “secret early bird pics”. Why would someone go to the trouble of mocking up a fake then sitting in a subway car hoping for some random guy to click his photo ?

Looks real and very very nice. Can’t wait. The silver looks bad ass

China is the worldwide leader in fakes. It's been the case in previous years that fakes get out before the real thing. Especially as the X was announced so long ago and rumours have been around even longer. This is why I wouldn't be surprised if it's a fake running a modified version of android.

In the other photos doing the rounds, one was taken at the apple campus. This would be the real thing.

Peoples lives must be seriously pathetic if they buy a fake iPhone that runs android just to make others think they have an iPhone from a distance. Sheesh. Talk about low self esteem and need for approval from society. Is this really a thing? Totally fake iPhones running android? Just buy a xiaomi (real) and use your os of choice. Design wise they copy iPhone too but at least it’s not a complete fake. I don’t get it.

Looks good in situ....I don't think that notch is going to bother me as much as I thought.
Not desperate to get one on the first day...there'll be plenty to go around soon enough.
