Stainless steel band scratching isn't an issue. It can be easily polished out jsut like the watch. The Space Gray one cannot due to the coating.

Space Gray will show deeper scratches more because of the coating being scratched off, but swirl marks won't be visible. I had a Space Gray and am a die hard black iPhone type of guy (every single phone since the first one), but this year the silver one just has this vibe to it...

I would be curious the results of the Silver X bands being polished with the Cape Cod cloth or something else...to see if it actually works as good as many talk about.

Personally I think the silver looks tacky. A black/dark grey phone in a black leather case looks classy in daily life and in the board room. Also gone for 64GB. Why? Because my current 64GB iPhone SE has 35GB free, and I could free up another 10GB if I got rid of the offline Google Music and Photos I don't really need. Cloud storage FTW, and yes, I know Google compresses photos. Given how I'm not going to print my photos out to cover the side of a house, that's not an issue!

I went for the 64 GB Silver. Reason I chose for 64 GB storage is that I just don't need 256 GB. I've had the 128 GB iPhone 7, and I did use just over half of the space, forcing me to set up my iPhone 8 Plus (yes, I actually bought one before ordering the iPhone X) from scratch as the backup was just too big. However, I've had like +300 apps before, most of which I never used. My current 64 GB iPhone 8 Plus holds up more than well, so I just don't need more. 256 GB is simply too much, 128 GB would've been the sweet spot.

And the reason I decided to go for the silver model, especially considering my iPhone 8 Plus, as well as my previous iPhone 7 is/was black/space gray: I love how the white on the back looks, and you still get the black front. That's been the main reason why I didn't like my rose gold iPhone 6s so much. It just doesn't work. And I like black/space gray. But the white back on the iPhone X, is just plain gorgeous. And that's even without having seen the device in person!

Look forward to actually getting the phone in my hands and see for myself how it really looks like.

Cracked open a SG and still MUCH PREFER silver in the wild

SG is very nice tho and don’t fault people for getting it but.

I agree aesthetically Silver wins hands down....what worries me is the polished band. I am curious how it will hold up over time and how well (everyone claims) imperfections can be buffed out. I don't have a SS apple watch which many have said should work similar for removing marks. I guess time will tell.

Even if it gets beat up such is life

Still silver all the way!

I had a black 7Plus and never black agin! always, always was dirty, but that was a darker black, went from the Silver, very happy with it, has that classic look!

I would have bought the silver if it hd the white from still, but unfortunately it doesn't so I went with the 256gb Space Grey.

Space gray is just like a jet black. It was nice at first but then meh, it is like a regular black phone. Silver is a the flagship color this year like jet black last year.

Very happy with my Silver X! I have always had a black phone, but always wished for a silver/white phone with black bezels in front. Apple delivered, and I really love the look. I do have a case, but I now intend on picking up a clear case!

I feel the same as you do. This is my first silver phone and I am very happy to have it. I put the phone inside the clear case: Otterbox Symmetry Clear Case. It looks gorgeous.

My fiance just picked up her silver x, looks too femine and tacky imo. The chrome just makes the phone look cheap.

I’m glad I went with SG.

After spending time with both colors, here's my advice: If you're going to use it without a case, go with Silver. If you're going to use it with a case, get Gray. Here's why.

The Silver: Hides fingerprints on the back glass, and I think it just looks more beautiful. But when you put it in a black case like I do, there's a sliver of the silver bezel peeking through around the front edge of the case that is distracting.
The Gray: Easier to show fingerprints on the back, but this is hidden by a case. Also, especially with a black case, the front appears with a continuous black frame since the bezel is also black(ish). Bonus is that if your case is open on the bottom, the bezel around the lightning port and speaker matches a black case. I'm using the Spigen Thin Fit black case and it's really good.
