Is there any reason why Silver is the most popular besides the color?

I’m guessing it’s because it’s the first iPhone (since the 3GS anyway) with a black front that offers a different coloured back. In the past this has only been possible with a white face. And for me personally, the white/silver with the black front combo looks so sleek. Also, I’m bored with just having ‘space grey’ backs. There will also be less visible fingerprints.

I am sure some people have already done this, but i would like to know which option i should not try for during pre order...lol... I know it depends on carrier too but that's just too much work. lol.. You can reply your carrier if you want..

Not really . . . someone asked an open ended question in a thread but not a poll. Someone told them that they should have done a poll though.

last couple years i think space gray was the most popular. The only reason i have got silver the last couple years is i wanted it on launch day and thought space gray would be more sought after

This was always my game plan. I would purchase the least popular color in order to receive it faster. I see colors as a superficial means that wears off anyways, and it comes down to the appreciation for iOS ultimately.

The time has changed. Space grey is the least popular color. On the other hand, silver becomes the most popular option.

Although with the iPhone X, there is only two colors offered, which you really can't determine which would be least popular in that situation.

If they had offered a 128 GB version I would go with that. But since I have 44 GB of data on my iPhone 7+ now I feel that 64 GB might be too small, so I will be forced to go with the 256. In silver of course, as I find black or space gray just too depressing a color.

Keep in mind a lot of data on your phone can now be offloaded to the cloud. I was previously using 47GB on my 7 Plus, but after switching to streaming most of my music with only a small number of songs saved to my phone, offloading my pictures to iCloud, and (when it's released in a future update) will be able to offload Messages to iCloud which brings my used storage amount down to about 25GB.

That means it'll be very easy to make a 64GB X work, especially considering pictures take up half as much space in iOS 11, so they won't fill it up as fast either.

My last few phones have been silver & that's my preferred choice (in iPads as well)

I'm going for the 64. I'd like 128, just because that's what I have now, lol, but honestly I'm under 30 on my current 128 7, so 64 will work for me!

I had the option to move messages to iCloud in beta iOS 11 and I didn’t like it. To have that anywhere else other than my phone is scary. I mean a lot of women trust me with there nudes! Lol
[doublepost=1507051566][/doublepost]Let’s not forget that carrier and sim free make a difference. Only so many of each go to each carrier..

What’s the point of keeping all those photos and videos worth 80GBs stored locally? It’s not like you’re accessing/viewing all those photos and videos regularly. You can keep it on iCloud and let iOS cache frequently accessed photos and videos.

No, I don't access them all regularly, but fairly frequently I will access random bits in there. I miss a lot by not having them local on the device:
  • Instant access to any of them.
  • Don't have to stream videos, especially 4k videos that require a pretty healthy pipe to stream effectively.
  • It doesn't matter if I'm in a area with spotty coverage, I still have it all. The number of times I'm in a place with no (or slow) wifi and/or spotty coverage is not trivial. It would be supremely frustrating to want to find something but am thwarted by crappy network.
  • Choices! Having all of that on the device (and trust me, it's already curated to a certain degree) means I don't have to worry about which stuff is quickly, locally accessible vs. which requires pulling from the 'net.
  • Deep learning on the photos. I am frequently using the search capability in my Photos app on the phone to find pics of all sorts of things. It very quickly narrows my search to a relevant subset. If all these things were in iCloud, I'm not sure I'd retain that ability.
Essentially it comes down to not having to depend on strong network to get the things I want, when I want them. And the price difference to allow me to store huge amounts of stuff on my phone, with room to spare (so I can start recording in 60fps 4k, for example) is easily worth it to me.

What is your usage breakdown like if you don’t mind?

Keep in mind that documents and data take up space. My husbands phone was showing 22gb of documents and data. I went into storage settings and deleted most of that cached crap!

Does anybody have any info about the stainless steel used in the iPhone X? Is it the same as the Apple Watch SS?

I’m still hugely undecided. I have the original space black stainless Apple Watch (still going strong).

My perfect combo would have been silver X with the space grey stainless border. I’m not sure I like the stainless silver border - though I’d imagine it hides scratches better.

Anybody changing their mind after seeing more photos of the X in the wild?

Actually I like the black one now. Was going
for the white, so I’m very much in doubt. Maybe I’ll just get whichever there is available. Preorder both and then cancel the delayed one :p
