Wow this was the easiest iPhone preorder year! I actually forgot to set an alarm, woke up at 3:08 and was able to order 2 Xs Max’s and an Apple Watch 4 for a launch day delivery. Apple.com and AT&T upgrade servers worked perfectly.

Two questions. Can you call Apple and change to pickup if the store still has stock? And, can you call Apple and request a certain shipping courier? We’ve had numerous problems with FedEx at my apartment complex.

First order at 12:22 - first email at 12:29
Second order at 12:39 - No email as of 12:51.

Ordered through AT&T because of the activation fee nonsense.

I ordered two phones on T-Mobile. I selected the "New Phone" option since I did not want to do the Upgrade Program and I paid in full. I assume I just pop the SIM out of my old phones and pop them in the new phones before I turn the new phones on? Is there a fee with this? Will the new phones just work with my old number?

Very odd I placed my order for my phone it didn’t send any confirmation on the order. I than placed an order for a watch and immediately I received a order confirmation email. Of course now I have no idea if my phone was actually ordered or not.
It always seems to have something go wrong with Pre orders. Time to wait and see so I don’t actually order two phones.
This happened to me, too.

Some of the preorders most have had delayed responses.

Using the Apple store app, I logged in around 3:05 as soon as the site went live, changed my preorder from 256GB silver AT&T Max to 512GB silver Max, submitted, and got a screen saying delivers Sep 21. No email, though.

I went on to order my 44mm SG S4 watch and a case for the Max, which took a couple minutes, and got another screen with delivery date of 9/21 for the watch - and an email.

Concerned about my phone order, I checked my Orders in the app, and only saw the watch and case!

Knowing the clock was running, I hurriedly ordered another phone and saw the silver 512 was already pushed to October, so I ordered a 512 gold Max (I was on the fence on the color anyway). I got a 9/21 date for the gold phone via an email, and my Orders in the app showed it right away.

Less than five minutes later, I got an email for the initial silver phone order with 9/21 delivery and an updated order status in the app.

So the initial preorder processing went through but was delayed, and I have two preorders for two colors on 9/21. Guess I have to pick a color!

Had to order via ATT website in order to pay a small balance in order to upgrade early. Apple's website wouldn't let me do that. Ordered 256GB Xs and 256GB Xs Max both Space Gray, delivery on 9/21.

Pretty Sure ATT is showing 9/21 for all models to EVERYONE. Their way of getting Next customers to overpay for a phone they won't get unitil after they would be eligible without paying early on their plan.

shipping has slipped to late Sep. early Oct. for all Max phones atleast for verizon. SIM-Free still shows launch delivery for the lower-teir storage models. I ordered my Max 256GB Space Gray 20mins in, glad I did not wait!

Received my confirmation email promptly, very smooth order.

Incorrect. It specifically states the AT&T at full price is UNLOCKED.

True. I does explicitly say paid in full comes unlocked with AT&T. But, and my memory may fail me on this one, but two years ago when I bought my phone was still locked when I paid in full, something I did not notice until I went to sell it. The unlock request web page processed my request in about two hours, so it was no big deal.

So insert my prepaid sim then turn it on ?
If you paid full price for an ATT SIM SKU, you get an unlocked phone. It will not lock. Don’t listen to these people that don’t know what they’re saying. Look carefully at the Apple site in the Compare options.

This is no longer the case, for a fact. Especially if the phone is bought from Apple. Apple handles the logistics of all the locking. Should you pay full price, at least with AT&T, it will not lock. Period.

Go to a phone, select it under your carrier, and then click on “Compare your payment options.”

Look at the Row called “Unlocked”. Only AT&T Next plans are locked.

Somehow I order 2 Gold iPhone XS Max and 2 Stainless Apple Watch 4. It didn’t look like my 1st orders went through cause I didn’t get a confirmation email so I placed them again and then all the emails came through. Oh well, I’m not gonna worry about it until tomorrow.
